The eligibility requirements at Surrey University vary as per the course levels. The University of Surrey requirements for international students are given below:
Undergraduate Courses: For admission to University of Surrey courses at the undergraduate level, students must have completed Class 12. However, the minimum percentage required overall as well as per the subjects varies as per the boards. Indian students can check the university’s website to know more.
Postgraduate Courses
- To apply to any of Surrey University’s postgraduate courses that require a UK 2:1, students must have an average of 60% or 65% overall in their undergraduate study, depending on the institution where students have completed their degree
- For any postgraduate courses of Surrey University that require a UK 2:2, students are required to achieve an overall average of 55% or 60% in their undergraduate study, depending on the institute where students have completed their degree
- The postgraduate courses that require UK first-class degree in order to be eligible for a scholarship, students must have an overall average of 65% or 70% in their undergraduate study, depending on the institute where they have completed their degree
University of Surrey Entrance Exams
Surrey University is accepting IELTS / Duolingo / TOEFL iBT Special Home edition by international students seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses for 2023. Usually, the University of Surrey does not require IELTS in order to pursue any undergraduate or postgraduate taught course. The university is able to accept 70% in Class 12 board exam English from CBSE / ISC boards and 80% in Class 12 board exam English from the majority of Indian state boards.
(Note: The above rule does not apply to every Indian state board and the university reserves a right to ask for IELTS or any other SELT wherever required).

The details of some of the University of Surrey scholarships for international students are given below:
- International Excellence Award (Postgraduate): This scholarship is open to self-funded international fee-paying students regardless of domicile or nationality. International Excellence Award (Postgraduate) is awarded as a £5,000 fee waiver. To avail this scholarship, students must hold an offer to study a full-time master’s program (Excluding MBA)
- International Excellence Award (Undergraduate): This scholarship is also open to self-funded international fee-paying students irrespective of their nationality or domicile. This scholarship is awarded as a £5,000 fee waiver in the first year of studies. To get this scholarship, students must have the offer to study a bachelor’s degree program full-time at FHEQ level 4 (first-year entry)
- Women in Leadership Scholarship: International students at the University of Surrey are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is open to female candidates who can show their contribution to business and have a drive to support other female candidates in the future. Students joining either the full-time or Executive MBA course can avail this scholarship. Also, note that this is a partial scholarship that covers 10% – 50% of the tuition fee and is awarded on a rolling basis. In other words, the candidates who apply early in the admissions round will eventually have a greater chance of receiving this scholarship
