Indian students can choose from 6 American Film Institute courses. These courses are only available at PG level and are named as MFA. Students will need a good GPA in their accredited UG degree, transcripts, proof that confirms the English language proficiency etc. are some of the AFI admission requirements they are required to meet.

Postgraduate level courses like MFA in Directing, MFA in Cinematography, MFA in Screenwriting, MFA in Production Design, MFA in Editing, MFA in Producing are the only and the most popular at this Film institute.
International students in general need to meet the eligibility criteria to get in like having a UG degree. English language proficiency and the ability to build a strong narrative. The students are also required to shoot a video introduction of theirs and submit it on the portal.

American Film Institute Visa Requirements for International Students 2026
International students will need an F1 visa to study at the American Film Institute Conservatory. To get this visa, these students need to fill the visa application along with all the documents and submit it at the USA embassy. To apply, this institute needs to issue an I-20 Form confirming acceptance.
