TSU History
Named after John Tarleton, an American settler & rancher, Tarleton State first opened its doors in 1899, thanks to the USD 85,000 (INR 72.5 L), he left in his will for the development of higher learning institutions in the region.
In 1917, the institute became part of the Texas A&M University System, & the institute continued its expansion over the 20th century, also going global, by offering courses in online format from the year 2009.
