Canterbury Christ Church University History
Canterbury Christ Church University started in the 1960s as a teacher-training college. Particularly, in 1962, Christ Church opened its doors. Then, in 1995, it was awarded the power to grant degrees for taught courses. Also, in 1995, the name was changed to Canterbury Christ Church University College. Then, in 2005, Canterbury Christ Church University got its full university title by the Privy Council. In 2022, the university is celebrating a Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years of making a positive difference in people’s lives through its education, innovation, and research.
