- To be eligible for admission to Master of Civil Engineering Advanced, a student must hold:
- a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent three year or four year Civil Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)

- OR a Bachelor Honours degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent four year Civil Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)

- OR a Graduate Certificate in Civil Engineering.
- Students admitted to the program with a Bachelor Honours degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent four year Engineering undergraduate degree or a Graduate Certificate in Civil Engineering will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the program. The following degrees are considered to be equivalent to a Bachelor honours degree in Engineering:
- four year Engineering undergraduate degree that includes a significant final year research project component (i.e. one semester thesis) from an Australian university
- four year Engineering undergraduate degree that includes a significant final year research project component (i.e. one semester thesis) from a NOOSR Section 1 University.
- Applicant must have 50% in their undergraduate degree
