History
TU Berlin was founded in 1770. Then, in 1879, the Royal Technical Academy of Berlin came into being through a merger of the Royal Trade and Building Academies. Then, in the year 1916, the Royal Mining Academic was incorporated into the Königlich Technische Hochschule. Finally, in 1946, the name Technische Universität was chosen. In 1950, the Humanities Faculty was established. In 1956, the legislation made TU Berlin an independent legal entity.
