OPT Details
Post-OPT is a work opportunity to get some off-campus work experience and is required to be attained after the completion of a degree program. F1 students are eligible for 12-month OPT per degree level. Those 12 months can be used while earning the degree (Pre-OPT), after getting the degree (Post-OPT), or a combination of both (Pre-and Post-OPT).
With the approval as per the academic unit, full-time or part-time internships are allowed in Spring, Fall, and Summer. Academic justification is required for full-time internships during the Fall or Spring semesters. For UG students, part-time internships are recommended in the Spring and Fall semesters. The internships are allowed for international students at ASU as given below:
- Undergraduate: At least 1 credit hour per internship experience in addition to or included as part of degree requirements
- Graduate: At least 1 credit hour per experience in addition to or included as part of degree requirements
