Northeastern University History
Northeastern University was founded in 1898 by the Boston Young Men’s Christian Association as a male institution before being incorporated as Northeastern College in 1916. It later gained University status in 1922. Northeastern is known to be the largest university in Massachusetts, with more than 38,000 students. In 1898, the School of Law at the institute was founded with an advisory of a committee that included the dean of Harvard Law School and the dean of Boston University School of Law.
