Brescia University College: Courses, Admission, Cost

Affiliated with the Western University (UWO), Brescia University College is a highly-ranked institution of higher education for women in the London city of Ontario, Canada. It was established in the year 1919 as the Ursuline College by the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham. The institution is the only women's university in Canada and began its functions in an old converted house in downtown. Over the years, the college adapted various academic and structural changes before finally transforming into Brescia College in the year 1963. The institution took up its current name in 2001. It has affiliations from the Association of Commonwealth Universities, International Association of Universities and the Council of Ontario Universities. Apart from this, BUC is a member of the Universities in Canada and the Women's College Coalition.

Brescia University College has a small campus placed in a beautiful setting that is convenient for students in every way. The campus features several buildings, pathways, green spaces and parking areas. Mother St. James memorial building, which was built in the year 1963, is the main building of the institution. It houses all the major classroom spaces, administrative offices and several student services. Apart from this, it has the business office, The Hive, Mother St. James Memorial Auditorium and a computer lab. The Beryl Ivey Library is also located in the same building. It holds a collection of unique and rare resources in the printed and digital form, which are accessible by both faculty and the students for teaching, learning and research.

Ursuline Hall has smart classrooms, high-tech food laboratories and administrative offices. The Hall was the former main building of the College that housed student residences and several academic facilities. In the year 2013, Clare Hall with a housing facility and a dining pavilion was inaugurated on the campus. It accommodates more than 300 students in its well-maintained rooms equipped with all the basic furniture and bedding linen. The building also has an eatery called the Mercato that serves various delicious cuisines and beverages. Apart from this, the students have access to the sports and recreation facilities of UWO.

Brescia University College offers undergraduate programmes in management and organisational studies, arts and science, and a postgraduate degree in foods and nutritional sciences. It offers the Honours Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition approved by Dietitians of Canada. Besides, it extends a range of certificate courses and preparatory programmes. Currently, Brescia has about 1550 students from various parts of the world, out of which 1350 students are pursuing full-time and 200 are part-time learners. It has 46 highly-learned and experienced academic affiliates.

Brescia University College has about 8,000 alumni living across the globe. The institution maintains a record of its alumni and takes pride in celebrating their achievements, for which it organises various events. The alumni list includes the names of highly-successful graduates. Many of the graduates of Brescia have gained recognition for their contribution to respective fields of profession. Margaret Chan Fung Fu-Chun (Popular Chinese Physician who served as the World Health Organisation's Director-General) and Beryl Ivey (Philanthropist) are some of the notable names in the alumni list of the College.
