Good balance of personal growth and learning.
Tips: Moving to Canada was honestly a huge reality check for me. One minute I'm fine and the next I’m suddenly having to juggle rent, bills and the constant grocery runs and not to mention trying to cook for myself while holding down a part-time job. It was a massive amount to handle all at once, to be fair. I definitely noticed the culture shock too, especially how direct people are here and how much they value punctuality and personal space. I didn't actually have any scholarships, so I’ve been paying my own way, but I’m honestly so happy with my college and the course. The way they teach is super practical and actually prepares you for a career. It was tough finding my feet at first, but it’s honestly made me way more confident and capable than I ever was. Moving to Canada was honestly such a massive reality check. I went from having everything handled to suddenly dealing with rent, bills, and grocery shopping while trying to hold down a part-time job—it was a total juggle. The culture shock hit me pretty hard, honestly—people here are just so much more direct, and getting used to the whole punctuality and personal space thing was a process. I’m paying for it all out of my own pocket since scholarships weren't an option, but I’m genuinely glad I stuck with this college and course. The teaching is super hands-on and actually feels like stuff you'd use in a real job.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I gave the faculty a full 5 stars because the lecturers really know their stuff and have a ton of experience. They’re super easy to talk to as well—you can just go up to them with a question or a confusing point and they’re always happy to clear things up. I also love how diverse the department is; it’s great having professors from all over the place because you get so many different perspectives in one classroom. It honestly makes the whole learning experience feel a lot more global.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I’m permanently settled in Canada now, but looking at how things have shifted lately, it’s a completely different ball game for newcomers. The immigration rules have changed so much in just the last few years that students, especially, are really struggling to see a clear path to PR. Don't get me wrong, it’s still doable, but you can't just 'wing it' anymore—you have to be incredibly strategic to actually meet the new requirements. It’s definitely gotten a lot more stressful for anyone trying to make the move now.
