Master of Science in Computing and Big Data Analytics - Batch of 2023
4.3
Good learning experience with room to improve.
Tips: Students should know that the college has good learning opportunities but requires self-effort for internships and career growth. After coming here I adapted well but did experience some cultural differences especially in communication and teaching style. I did apply for a scholarship, and it helped cover part of my tuition fees and living costs. I am satisfied with the university, my course and living in this country, as it offers good exposure and learning experiences.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of opportunities both on campus and off campus. On-campus jobs are easily available in libraries cafeterias administrative offices and other departments. Off-campus offers many options like retail stores restaurants and customer service roles. The work is usually flexible so it's manageable along with academics. Most jobs pay a decent hourly wage often enough to cover basic expenses.
Dislikes (Internships): Only a few resources or structured support systems are provided. The available internships are not always directly aligned with my field of study which makes it challenging to gain relevant practical experience.

Practical learning and warm community at ATU Donegal.
Tips: Students should know the college is practical, community-focused, and weather can be challenging. Transitioning here, I experienced a lower pace and more independence in study, which was a cultural shift. I am satisfied with ATU Donegal, the course structure, and the welcoming environment in Ireland.
Likes (Safety): Donegal is a calm, friendly place with a low crime rate, making it feel safe even at night. Apart from campus security, the college provides emergency contacts, mental health support, and community Garda visits to ensure student safety. People here are helpful, and I have felt safe walking back from late classes. A good experience was when a local kindly guided me when I missed the bus, showing the community's helpful nature.
Dislikes (Internships): While some opportunities are available, they are limited in a small town like Donegal. Guidance is available through career services and lecturers, but you need to actively search and apply yourself. Some internships align with the field of study, but many require relation or remote work to find something relevant. Overall, you get support, but you need to take initiative to secure a good internship here.

Adjusting to the weather took a great deal of time.
Tips: Shifting was definitely a big thing. Adjusting to the weather took a great deal of time because it always seemed to be raining, but I got used to layering up within a few months. The pace of things here was noticeable at first, but I also noticed that the Irish people I met were very polite, welcoming, and respectful. The internship I received from the college covered my living allowances. I’m pretty happy with my experiences here so far.
Likes (Student Life): My day at college starts with classes or labs on cybersecurity topics. I usually spend days in the library between classes catching up with assignments, and the professors are approachable. The college organises job fairs so students can look into companies and talk to them.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The campus is situated in the centre of the city. There is no concept of public transportation in Letterkenny. But if you manage to get accommodation within the city centre, then you won't need any public transportation. Also, if you are to travel to nearby places, there are local link buses available, and all transportation services have a 50% student discount all over Ireland.

A smooth transition with strong academic and financial support.
Tips: The transition was smooth though adjusting to new cultural norms and academic expectations took some time. Orientation programs and support from peers made the process easier. I received a merit based scholarship through an online application which covered part of the tuition and provided a small monthly stipend. The application required academic records and a personal statement.
Likes (Part time work): On-campus part time jobs are fairly available in libraries, cafeterias and administrative offices. Off-campus roles include retail, food services and internships in nearby businesses. Students usually manage part-time work well with academics due to flexible hours. Time management becomes key especially during exam period. The average payout ranges from 10 to 15 dollars per hour depending on the job.
Dislikes (Internships): There is strong guidance available for internships through career services, faculty and dedicated workshops. Regular sessions on resume building and interview prep are conducted. The university also collaborates with companies to offer internship opportunities. Most internships are highly relevant to the students' academic fields.

An exciting and enriching journey that offers both academic excellence and personal growth.
Tips: The transition has been smooth although I experienced a shift in cultural norms especially in social interactions and daily routine. I received a meritbased scholarship that covered part of my tuition and provided a living allowance.
Likes (Post study jobs): I enjoy the vibrant campus life and the chance to meet people from diverse backgrounds. There are various student clubs including those for sports technology and volunteering offering ample opportunities for involvement.
Dislikes (Internships): The teaching methodology is interactive which makes learning engaging. The faculty is quite diverse with professors from various nationalities bringing different perspectives to the curriculum.

The college offers decent help for internships, though you still need to take initiatives.
Tips: Coming here is a very big change, especially in communication and the independent learning lectures. It took me a month or so to adjust. I was awarded a merit-based scholarship after submitting strong merit-based records. This college is very good for master's students. Many of the internships are closely tied to what we are studying – mine was in digital marketing skills. The college offers decent help when it comes to internships, though you still need to take initiative. Staff will guide you on how to write applications and prepare for interviews. On campus part-time jobs at ATU Donegal are limited but available in different roles, student services and the ambassador programme.

Many large firms offer work visa sponsorship, especially in tech and business analytics.
Tips: I did receive a scholarship, and I am very happy with my decision to study here. There was definitely a culture shift, especially with how informal and approachable lecturers are; it was refreshing initially. But I still felt out of place until I realised that the university community is warm and very helpful to the students. The food scene in Letterkenny is surprisingly diverse, and within a short walk, you'll find Indian, Thai, Mediterranean, and Irish restaurants. Casual meals run about €10-€15. Mid-range restaurants will run you €25-€30 for a full course.
Dislikes (Safety): The college prioritises student safety with more than just security personnel. On-campus medical health insurance, mental health resources, and support staff contribute a lot to the secure feeling here. I had a minor bike accident once, and people nearby rushed to help.

Quality learning in a peaceful environment.
Tips: Setting into life in Ireland took some adjusting, especially the colder weather and the very punctual lifestyle. The classroom environment here is much more interactive than what I was used to. The university has a portal where I applied for a scholarship, and it made a big difference to get that €1500. I really appreciate it. In Ireland, many large firms offer work visa sponsorship, especially in tech and business analytics. It helps that the university provides monitored accommodation, has access to health services, and regularly organises student safety awareness events. They even offer self-defence workshops every so often.

ATU Donegal provides solid guidance when it comes to internships.
Tips: It took time to adjust to the pace of life, the accents, and the independent study style, but the support system here made it easier. I was lucky to receive a merit-based scholarship that helped me financially.
Likes (Internships): ATU Donegal provides solid guidance when it comes to internships. I found my internship through one of their career fairs, and it was directly related to my field. The career services team regularly shares opportunities via email and hosts CV workshops and prep sessions.
Dislikes (Safety): The university doesn't just rely on security guards for safety. They also have security cameras, well lit walkways and a clear code of conduct. Letterkenny is a small and friendly town that is easy to get around which makes it a great place to understand Irish culture.

Affordable, supportive and rewarding.
Tips: At first, it was a bit of a cultural shock because everything from the food to the communication style felt new. Within a few weeks, though, I had adapted. I also get a scholarship, but I still think the education here is worth the investment. The university is very supportive.
Likes (Indian Food):
My typical day at college involves a mix of lectures, lab sessions, and lab work, as well. With breaks spent hanging out in the college lounge or grabbing coffee. What I enjoy most is the relaxed atmosphere. They also have several clubs for sports, gaming, etc.
Dislikes (Value for money): The faculty in my department is very approachable and supportive. They are always open to questions and make time for one-on-one discussions when needed. They work on real-world projects, which really enhances the learning of the students. This brings a variety of perspectives into the classroom.

ATU Donegal has provided students with very good security, secure and safe accommodations.
Tips: The shift went smoother than I expected, and there was definitely a cultural difference, like classroom discussion and less rigid. I did get a scholarship from the university's international office approximately 1100 euros, which is deducted from my fees.
Likes (Indian Food): Letterkenny offers a wide range of restaurants, everything from fast food chains like McDonald's and Domino's to Indian and Chinese to Irish pubs and Italian eateries. Prices are reasonable, but I personally prefer cooking at home most of the time.
Dislikes (Safety): Besides having a secure campus, ATU Donegal ensure very good safety as well as very good security, secure and safe accommodations, 24/7 active response services, and mental health support services. You will definitely feel safe walking around campus, even late in the evening.

The course is well structured, modern labs, experienced faculty, and plenty of hands-on experience.
Tips: Moving to ATU Donegal came with its challenges, especially getting used to the weather as well as different dynamics, but I adjusted quite smoothly, thanks to the supportive environment. I received a scholarship as well because my marks were very good in my graduation.
Likes (Value for money):
The tuition fee is fair for what we receive. The course is well structured with access to modern labs, experienced faculty, and plenty of hands-on learning opportunities. Compared to other institutions in Ireland, ATU Donegal gives quality education.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time jobs are available, but they can be competitive, especially during exam season. On-campus jobs are limited, mostly in the library or student services, but there are some opportunities at retail stores or restaurants in Letterkenny.

Great education and modest tuition fee.
Tips: Transitioning to Ireland was both exciting and a little overwhelming at first. The cultural shift was noticeable, especially in how laid-back and friendly people are here compared to where I’m from. I did receive a partial scholarship based on my academic record, though.
Likes (Post study jobs): Several companies in Ireland offer visa sponsorship in the IT, Hospitality, and engineering fields. Although ATU Donegal doesn't directly place students in jobs, the school's career services do help students connect with potential employers.
Dislikes (Safety): ATU Donegal takes student safety seriously, beyond just campus security. The university also has excellent lighting around the campus, emergency contact stations, and regular safety briefings. If you have any concerns, the student union is also very helpful and approachable.

ATU Donegal offers a well-rounded college experience with strong academics.
Tips: Initially adapting to the quieter lifestyle self service culture and local accents was a cultural shift but I adjusted quickly. I did not avail myself of a scholarship as my programme did not offer one at the time but I explored funding options through the university website and support services. I'm very satisfied with my university and the course is industry-relevant and well-structured.
Likes (Indian Food): Letterkenny offers a variety of restaurants, including Indian e.g. Chandpur Taste of India Chinese Italian American style diners and Irish pubs. Pricing is moderate with meals typically ranging from 10 -20 dollars per person depending on the place and dish. Fast food options like McDonald's or Supermac's are more affordable for quick meals. I prefer cooking at home as it is cost-effective healthier and allows me to maintain my dietary preferences. I occasionally enjoy dining out to explore local cuisines and socialise with friends especially during weekends or special occasions. It offers a nice break from routine cooking.
Dislikes (Part time work): On campus jobs at ATU Letterkenny may include roles in the library admin offices IT labs or student support services though they are limited and competitive. Off campus opportunities in Letterkenny are more accessible especially in local businesses such as hotels restaurants cafes supermarkets and retail shops. Students at ATU typically manage part-time work well especially with clear communication and planning as the town has a good balance of study and work life rhythm. The average hourly wage in Letterkenny aligns with the national minimum wage of around 11.30-13.50/hour depending on the job and experience.

A well-rounded college experience with strong academics.
Tips: Students should know that the college is academically demanding. Time management is key and getting involved in campus life helps balance the work load. Take advantage of resources and to stay active. Student life at my university is vibrant and inclusive. There are plenty of clubs, events and activities that make it easy to connect with others. The campus has great facilities and there's always something going on, making it a fun and engaging place to be every day.
Dislikes (Safety): My university offers good quality education with knowledgeable professors and a structured curriculum. The campus is equipped with modern facilities. Part time jobs are not available at this university.
Tips: There are a lot of people from different backgrounds here so it’s easy to fit in with people. There are also a lot of opportunities for you to grow as an individual. I'm enjoying the classes and the teaching here. We have different classes and the schedule is not at all stressful. The exams are also not too tough, so I'm not feeling stressed or overwhelmed. The classrooms and the teaching are both perfect. The school has put together a syllabus that is very thorough and explains the topics very well. I am completely satisfied with the course and syllabus, the professors are friendly and warm, and the workload isn’t heavy.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time jobs are not available at this university and the university does not provide much support or guidance. Previous intake students have already taken all available jobs and the pay for the few that are still open is too low for the work. You need to get references from your seniors, but that process usually takes 2-3 months.

I did not avail myself of a scholarship as my program did not offer one at the time but I explored funding options through the university website and support services. I’m very satisfied with ATU. Personally I prefer cooking at home as it is cost-effective healthier and allows me to maintain my dietary preferences.
Dislikes (Indian Food): On campus part time jobs are moderately available in Irish universities and institutes. Off-campus international students can find part-time work in hospitality retail and food services such as restaurants hotels and supermarkets especially in towns with active commercial zones. Balancing part-time work with academics is generally manageable provided students plan their schedules well. It’s a safe place for students to study and work.
Tips: Students must know the current ongoing scenario concerning job offers and the country being flexible towards students working part-time. The toastmasters programme would help students connect with faculty members.
Likes (Safety): Considering Singapore’s strong rule and safety. The country makes it a safe place for students to study and work as well. A strong department in the country that checks even the students' passports on the go makes it completely safe and avoids illegal entry. Strong economic policies.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent migration is quite a challenge unless there is strong support and a reference in the study country due to opposing government policies in migrants working in their country. The country was quite tough on migrants setting up during 2012. The salary structure is quite low compared to other countries.

JCU is a university that rewards you for what you put into it.
Tips: You can get a lot of scholarships/bond to lower the cost of tuition fees at JCU. I think I'm pretty adaptable, so transitioning to living in Singapore was not a problem at all, and while there have been highs and low lows, all in all, I'm quite happy with my university life. The faculty is very diverse and quite friendly. The course material taught is a great balance between practical and theoretical knowledge.
