BSc in Business Informatics - Business Data Science - Batch of 2027
3.5
Totally study oriented, good teachers with very good course curriculum.
Tips: Tuition fees are 1665; there is not much part-time work without the German language. Public transportation is not good; it's a very rural area inside the Black Forest but very beautiful. The language barrier is very intense here. There are no scholarships I got. I love this university; I just hate the Ausländerbehörde in this area.
Likes (Safety): It's totally safe to go around even at night. No specific facilities I have seen, but also I didn't see any incident that I can say was unsafe. The total area is full of students, so mostly you will meet students and very few local people. People are friendly with international students.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I like to cook myself because there is no Indian food shop nearby. The nearest Indian restaurants are in Villingen and Freiburg. Nearby most restaurants are German and Turkish kebab shops. Also, 2/3 of Vietnamese restaurants cost 10-20 euro for a basic meal.

BSc in International Business Information Systems (International Business Information Systems, Double Degree) - Batch of 2029
4.0
A peaceful campus in small town - Great for focused students.
Tips: The transition to Germany and HFU was quite smooth for me overall. The people here are welcoming, and the campus environment is calm and focused. The life here is much more independent—you manage everything on your own, groceries, paperwork, etc. I did not avail myself of any scholarship. So be prepared to manage your expenses on your own, and do that wisely. The university and course are okay for me. The course is structured, and international exposure is valuable. But this is a small town, so if you enjoy the big-city life, that might take some adjustment. Overall it is a good stepping stone if you are clear about your goals.
Likes (Safety): As for me, I have not faced any bad experiences here regarding safety. Germany is known for its strict safety standards, and as a girl, I feel very safe here, even at nights. So if you want a late-night break or late-night library study session, you can definitely have them without any hesitations.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Living up here in Furtwangen is a massive adjustment because the town is honestly tiny. If you're craving proper food from back home, you can completely forget about finding it anywhere nearby—you literally have to make a whole trip out to bigger cities like Freiburg or Stuttgart just to hit up a decent international grocery store.
Because of that, pretty much everyone on campus defaults to cooking their own meals, which is honestly a lifesaver for your budget anyway. You can grab all your basic, everyday ingredients from the local supermarkets in town but for anything specialized, you just learn to get creative or wait until your next city trip.

stay in a small village, practice german and studies .The courses are well made
Tips: It could be a little difficult to come here for the first time, but you can always contact any and all students already studying here or me if I am still here, and I could help in any way possible. Scholarships do exist from DAAD, so they need to be applied for. I am happy with my course. Some teaching methods were different from what was in India, but I liked the labs and am satisfied with the course.
Likes (Public transportation): The connections are good. You have a bus every hour. You can buy a student ticket for 45 euros and travel everywhere with the public transport. Buses come until 12, which is good if you are working somewhere close by, as you can easily travel back after your shift.
Dislikes (Internships): This course does not have a compulsory internship, so you have to do it voluntarily. You do have a job fair every sem, and many require German, so learning German and coming would be a good choice. Any other position will also be put up on the wall, from which it can be applied.

One amazing journey that ever happened in my life.
Tips: Umm, I’d say yes, there are few cultural differences. But you’ll get adjusted to it. No scholarship. Very much satisfied with the course, university, lectures, and professors. Students across this university are also friendly. I’m happy and would give it 5/5.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Changes are good and nice, as long as you satisfy the requirements. I’m not sure if I’ll obtain the PR or not. Too soon to comment on that. Again, how fast you get your PR or any other status depends on that local city foreign office. Overall, the process is slow but good.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Well, the city is quite small, around 12k people. The city just has buses to travel around. There are no trains and S/U-bahns. However, the buses are frequent and punctual. Affordable - when you buy the Deutschland ticket. No trains after 11 PM at night.

Parties, fest and job fair.
Tips: They should know their motive first and choose the course that is in their best interest. There are scholarship options available. I am satisfied with the course as it MET my objective. Most of the students are from other countries, so it's good to get some international exposure. The teaching and professors are high class with great knowledge. So it would be the best experience for anyone if they chose their course rightly.
Likes (Value for money): The course is totally worth the money since it has good value and content. Back in India we won't get this at this price. Since this university is affiliated with SAP, you will get to play along in the SAP software and learn from the firsthand experience from the very people who were working with SAP.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are no nearby groceries or Indian restaurants available. The nearest one is 1.5 hrs from Furtwangen. The Indian restaurants are highly priced here. It can take up to a minimum of 30 to 35 euro for one-time meals; again, it depends on the restaurant you go to. I eat outside once a week or month, as cooking is the more sustainable option for any student.

Nice university with best faculty.
Tips: Learn the German language it's very important. No part time if we don't know the basics. The university faculty members are nice and friendly. But the academics are stressful with a lot of assignments and tasks. Hardly a few subjects have a written exam but they are tough as the university expects a different style of answering and no spoon feeding is done. Just a PPT and you need to figure out your academics. There will be presentations done by students, which are also part of your exam syllabus so you need to catch up on that as well.
Likes (Safety): Even at 12 in the night, it's safe to walk. People party till 3 am in the morning and reach their accommodation safely. The citizens here respect each other. There is no need for security in the university as well as the citizens are well behaved and mind their own business.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I have still not graduated, so no idea. But few of my seniors are struggling to get post study job due to a language barrier and the job market. It's difficult to get into any kind of job and after you apply to 1000 applications only you will only be landing one.

Country side life in German university is peaceful.
Tips: Since the town is almost located in the countryside, there are many cultural differences compared to the city side. One thing is German language, we will get the opportunity to learn quickly.
I did not avail of any scholarships because I did not do any research on those things due to a lack of time management.
I am almost very satisfied with the university, course and the country.
Likes (Quality of faculty): All the faculties from the smart systems are very helpful in the entire course of study. I have no complaints when it comes to this topic. The faculties are approachable to any level to understand the topics they teach.
The unique methodology that I found interesting was the assignments given by different professors. All the assignments were unique and interesting to solve. The assignments were posted online to complete sometimes and even the questions were different for all the students given by some professors.
Dislikes (Part time work): The on campus part time jobs are not a problem for students who are interested in HiWi jobs under any professors. But the off-campus jobs are highly impossible to get in this town. You need to travel at least 30 minutes or sometimes 90 minutes (to the nearest big city) depending on the job location. But as per my experience, I suggest the students do jobs under professors.

Wonderful college with friendly professors
Tips: For me, except for the language barrier everything was nice. There was no cultural shift that I experienced because if you have a strong cultural background then you cannot be changed. There are not many scholarships available that the university provides. I'm fairly satisfied with my university.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fee for the course offered by my university is not too high from my perspective since I'm studying in a government-aided university but the living expenses are somewhat high. The private university tuition fee is more when compared with government-aided one.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are no restaurants that offer food from our country in my residence, but we can get the ingredients and cook ourselves. If we want to have food from our country then we can visit nearby big cities which offer food from different countries.

Nice small town university
Tips: It's a small university town. A lot fewer people than the big city university has. It is good; courses are challenging compared to India's, and you have to work hard. Tuition fees are lower, and you have the Deutschland ticket, so you can travel in public transport for free in all of Germany. Plus, small towns have less expensive accommodation; it is cheap, with lots of Indian students and diverse students. Lots of activities to do. Culture is really good.

Dislikes (Part time work): It's a very small town, so part-time jobs are fewer. Plus, you need basic German language knowledge to get a part-time job. You can also travel 1 hour to the nearby city of Erfurt for a part-time job; there you also need basic German language knowledge. And traveling is hectic.

My 4.6-Year Life at TU Ilmenau.
Tips: German language basics greatly help. Self-time management is very important. Getting and processing information in an orderly and active way is most important. Although there are various international organizations to help students, one should always take the initiative to get self-info.
Likes (Value for money): TU Ilmenau is a public university that offers studies almost free of charge. There is only a small amount of semester contribution needed, which also gives almost as much return as public transport, library usage, and various study-related software usage. Again, the city also provides cheap living costs, compared to big cities.
Dislikes (Part time work): Ilmenau is a small city. It is also a university city, where a large part of the population is students. So, it is hard to get a part-time job. Students need to go to nearby cities to get a job. There are options such as labor works, but they affect study a lot.

Great , Quite to learn grow and build your career
Tips: Students should be prepared for a peaceful and nonchaotic environment. Ilmenau is a very small town and full of greenery. But you get almost everything here in this small town. TU Ilmenau is very research-oriented. The international community are very active, and they have multiple clubs and organizations.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): After graduation from a German university, the pathway is clear for international students who want to live here. You will get up to 18 months on a job seeker visa, and then after landing a job and crossing a certain threshold in salary, you are eligible for a blue card, and then you can apply for PR after a few months.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I rated it 4/5 because I believe Germany has very good opportunities for international students, and yes, language plays a very important factor. Learning German makes things easy. Many people get full-time jobs after graduation, but effort is needed in every field, as the market is very competitive.

A good place to study, learn and grow.
Tips: I have transitioned after coming here; the way I was back in India is completely different from the version of me. I have actually experienced a lot of cultural differences between India and Germany. No, I did not have any scholarships; normally if you have a stellar profile, you will land a scholarship easily. I am very much satisfied with TU Ilmenau.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The academic staff here are all highly knowledgeable, and I find them extremely helpful regarding the explanation of topics, and also they are extremely friendly and humble. If a student has any doubt, they can contact the professor during academic hours or take an appointment to resolve their doubts.
Dislikes (Part time work): I rated part-time work low because Ilmenau is a tiny university town, so local job options are extremely limited compared to bigger cities. Unless you get lucky with a HiWi research position on campus, finding an off-campus student job without fluent German is nearly impossible. Pay is fine when you do land something, but expect months of waiting and heavy competition for the few open spots in town.

Nice university international friendly.
Tips: It's a nice university with many options for degrees. It has a very international crowd, especially Asian. But it is very small; there is not much to do here, and getting jobs (part-time, full-time) is difficult. If students want to come to study, then it's a nice place, but if they are thinking the learnings would be like Canada and Australia, then it's not the right place to come.
Likes (Safety): Ilmenau is a very safe and peaceful town, unlike big cities such as Berlin. Because it's a small town with an international crowd, it's quite safe. This town is not very crowded, and mostly old people live in East Germany, so it's part of that. And also the town is quite pretty.
Dislikes (Part time work): Because of many factors. To get a part-time job, you need German, and it is not always available. As the location is a town and a big city, jobs are quite difficult to find. If someone wants to come just for study, then it's good. But many students end up taking loans, which are difficult to pay back while living here.

TU Ilmenau-One of the Best german University
Tips: Like there are many cultural differences that are present in Germany, and you will get acclimatized to them once you start living here. I didn't get any external scholarship. I am satisfied with my university and data science course and Germany. This is what I will say.
Likes (Student Life): Apart from all other colleges I have known from my friends living in Germany, TU Ilmenau is a vibrant place where there are many clubs and societies that can help you attain knowledge beyond classwork. There are many clubs in filmmaking, arts, and vehicle racing.
Dislikes (Part time work): Like, there are very limited part-time opportunities in Ilmenau, and it is hard to land a role if you don't speak German. It is very difficult to manage part-time while studying parallelly because the examination structure here is different in comparison to India.
