Worth every penny that you spent on your academics
Tips: Choose the course that best suits you and make sure you read all the course modules before you make your final decision. Don't really worry about scholarships, as they are awarded automatically, and you don't have to apply individually. Most importantly, don't really have the idea of paying back your loan with a part-time job, because it's going to stress you a lot.
Likes (Value for money): The university experience and the friendships you make during your time there will make the money you spend worthwhile, and you can learn a lot from the new experiences and exposure. The events that take place on campus are really good, and you can find a lot of pubs and bars in the city with more vibes.
Dislikes (Part time work): Lancaster is a small town, and it's really hard to find a part-time job, university part-time jobs are more competitive. If you are looking for part-time jobs, it's better to apply from the very start so that it increases your chances of getting one within 6 months.

A fun time at Lancaster University
Tips: I liked living in the UK I plan on going back to get the most out of my degree. The biggest shift for me was adjusting to the weather, if you come from a tropical country like me it can be brutal. Apart from that the online culture is mostly the same so it wasn't hard connection with people my age. Got to meet lots of people from all over the world, very eye-opening.
Likes (Safety): The city and campus always felt safe. Never once did I feel threatened by anything or anyone. It's mostly just students all around the town too so it made the whole place feel more friendly. Students roam the city and campus during all hours of the day so I can't imagine it ever feeling unsafe if you know where you're going.
Dislikes (Part time work): Applying for jobs on campus feels like a total lottery system. There really needs to be a simpler way to do it because finding a part-time gig here is a massive headache. Honestly, a lot of my international friends and I noticed a pretty clear bias toward local UK applicants in the job market, which makes the whole hunt even more frustrating when you're trying to compete.

Most of the companies don't hire for internships for master's students.
Tips: There are very good scholarships available. Please check if you are eligible and make sure you apply for those as early as possible. Get more connections, this will also help you secure a job and build your network, be open minded and make as many friends as you can, after all, this is college life. There are many forums that support careers and academic writing, enrol on them as that will help with assignments.
Likes (Safety): Lancaster University and the city are both very safe; the security here is very high. The people here are very friendly. I even used to come home late at night when I was working part time at a restaurant. There are police all the time on the streets. If you feel unsafe or scared, they will help you.
Dislikes (Internships): For the Master's program, internships are very hard, as the course itself is 1 year. We will be having a project in the last semester which is similar to an internship. In my last semester, I worked with my group on a real project which helped me understand how a real world project can be managed. In our last semester, we will have two options to select from: one is a real project and the other is research. I have selected a real-time project as it is similar to an internship.
Apart from this, most of the companies don't hire for internships for master's students.

Great learning and research experience.
Tips: I did experience a cultural shift as my university was located in the countryside and everything closes at around 5 pm. It gets very quiet and lonely at times. The people are sweet and friendly here however, they are a bit reserved so making long term relations is a bit difficult.
I received 2 scholarships. This made a huge impact on my decision as the scholarships brought down the tuition fees to half. I did not have to apply separately for these, as you are directly considered for this and the evaluation is based on the academic scores.
My university experience has been good but the part that nobody tells you is that the UK follows a skill based hiring. So if you don’t have experience, it is going to be very difficult to enter any industry. Although my course was great and I learnt a lot of important things, the master's degree doesn’t hold much of a value.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK immigration rules are strict now. Hence, it is very difficult to get a sponsored job or find a settlement option. Given an option I would love to immigrate as the work culture and pay are good. And the experience I’ve had so far has been great.

The best campus with strong academics and global exposure.
Tips: Before joining Lancaster University students should be aware that it is a campus based university located slightly outside the city so planning transport, accommodation and daily expenses in advance is important; the academic environment is rigorous with a strong emphasis on independent study, critical thinking and continuous assessment which may differ from more exam centric systems.
Likes (Part time work): There are worthwhile opportunities but the availability can be less due to competition and the size of the local job market. On campus roles are accessible through the university's Employment & Recruitment Service (ERS) and student job portals offering flexible and friendly positions such as library or IT support, student ambassadors, catering or retail work, administrative or research assistant tasks and occasional casual remote roles; these typically allow around 10-20 hours per week and are advertised regularly each term.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is no concept of campus recruitment in UK universities. International students need to find their own ways to secure a job. Recently, sponsored jobs have been rarely offered because of the UK Home Office restrictions on visa rules. I cannot directly state the number of companies offering sponsorship. Those are really less in number. Job roles vary based on your interest and salary packages differ sector to sector, function to function. Usually, after MBA many students work in consulting firms.

If you’re passionate about learning and studying data science, it’s worth it.
Tips: It is important to know that the course is intensive and designed to give you knowledge and experience both through projects and coursework. Written skills are tested in sync with your technical skills and since it is a one-year course it might get a bit stressful around certain months. It is also important to note that even though it is stressful if you are really passionate about what you're studying then this won't be a problem for you in any way. It is actually enjoyable after the initial period of transition from the Indian education system to the UK one. Good experiences.
Likes (Value for money): I think the quality of education and guidance offered is beyond amazing. Resources offered not just on your career but your health and mindfulness made it a fun and enjoyable experience. Extra-curricular, a beautiful and walkable campus, good professors and very good accommodation on campus made the experience worthwhile to me.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Given that the job market in the UK is bad right now, it is affecting every student from every university, and mine is no exception. There are no campus placements in my course so the general market is the job market and it is equally fierce right now. Lancaster University has good 1:1 resources and workshops to help you tailor your resume and prepare for interviews, so I think while on campus, these should be used as much as possible.

Tips: Lancaster is a very small city, frequently travel to nearby cities like Preston or Manchester to get better things. Nightlife is safe and most clubs are friendly and open to all. If you choose your course wisely, you will have an opportunity of a lifetime. Make sure to knock on every door and you will get a part time job for sure and after university, use the alumni network to get a good job.
Likes (Safety): Best campus experience. The campus even after being large and open always felt secure. The marshals and officers are always on duty to help and assist you with everything. People around and on campus are active 24/7 you would not be in danger of any sort.
Dislikes (Indian Food): We have got limited number of non-European restaurants but we can go to nearby cities like Preston. Cooking for yourself can be a struggle but you will eventually learn it and make sure to keep a check on your diet to not fall sick. All major delivery partners would anyway be active.

A great place to grow and learn.
Tips: Lancaster University is ranked among the top 10 universities in the Complete University Guide 2025. The Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) Accounting and Finance programme is also ranked 7th in the Guardian University Guide 2025. The professors in my course were especially encouraging and always gave me the space to ask and clarify my questions. I am proud to be a scholarship recipient, having received awards from both the university and the management school. Lancaster University is the best choice for those who want to focus on both career development and academic excellence.
Likes (Public transportation): Every 10 minutes, you can catch a bus to the city centre or nearby areas from the university underpass. The buses also serve all on-campus locations, running from the underpass to the Graduate College. Students can get a student term pass to save some money on travel.
Dislikes (Internships): The M.Sc. Finance programme can be quite hectic and demanding, leaving little time for internships. Students are usually fully occupied with coursework, lectures, and tests.

Intense course at Lancaster University.
Tips: The course is excellent but the faculty doesn't meet the expected standards. Each term is three months long, but they cover the material in just two. Classes are six hours a day plus assignments and frequent tests. All major exams are handwritten, with two 50 mark questions on the final and grading is very strict. Around 30% of students fail. You have to manage your health diet and the climate. It is a challenging environment not easy at all. They expect dissertation quality at a Ph.D. level.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of part time jobs available catering to various interests and skills. As international students, we are limited to 20 hours per week, and Lancaster University offers sufficient opportunities to meet this visa requirement.
Dislikes (Internships): Firstly, the university provides insufficient support for internships in the M.Sc. in Accounting and Financial Management program. While there are career fairs they are not tailored for accounting students and undergraduate students seem to be prioritised over Master's students.

Tips: The Lancaster University Bailrigg Centre is a vibrant campus with a large sports centre and five colleges, some for postgraduate and others for undergraduate students. Be energetic and excited to visit; the fun lasts a long time.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Student life at Lancaster University's Bailrigg Centre is amazing, with numerous cafes on campus. The campus life is very pleasant; students can take walks to breathe fresh air in the mornings and evenings, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The faculty is excellent, providing support at every stage. They offer personal drop-in sessions to help students concentrate on their studies and achieve good grades. They are also very interested in getting to know their students.

Tips: It is very important to get information about travel routes at the time of first arrival in the UK. A student must know how to take a train from Manchester to Lancaster. Walk for a few minutes from Lancaster railway station to Common Garden Street. Take a bus from Common Garden Street to Lancaster University, only buses numbers 100/1A/41/42. Arrive at the Underpass or Management school bus stop, then it's a walkable distance to their college porters. I got a scholarship of 5000. Lancaster University will automatically apply the scholarship if the grades are eligible. Overall, I am very satisfied with my course and university. It is a very intense course. I learned a lot; however, when it comes to placement, I am neutral.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation, like buses and trains, is very accessible here. There's a bus app, Stagecoach, where you can track live buses, bus numbers, timings, and duration. Also, if your bus or train is stuck due to a technical issue, the team takes responsibility to drop passengers to their location by arranging another mode of transportation. In the case of trains, sometimes, due to delays and issues, the ticket price is fully refunded, even after they drop you off.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK has quite limited options of getting permanent settlement compared to other countries. It is mandatory required first to get sponsored job then there are chances of applying for Indefinite leave to remain. Yes, if the right career opportunity comes I will surely apply for permanent residence here.

Tips: Before joining this college, students should know that academic expectations are high and independent learning is strongly encouraged. Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty of our department is highly knowledgeable and experienced. They also bring strong academic and industry perspectives to the classroom. They are generally approachable and are very responsive to student queries via office hours or emails. The faculty are fairly diverse.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): If needed I believe I could work towards meeting the necessary requirements for permanent settlements especially through skilled employment pathways. The process can be competitive and dependent on Visa eligibility I would be confident in building a strong profile over time.

The current job market is horrible here in the UK.
Tips: I have upskilled myself in my field. Recently, our team won 2 consecutive CTF events in UK Lancashire and Yorkshire CTF events. I was also part of the team. Once you decide to move to any place, you should be ready to embrace cultural changes, sometimes it might be a shock but again it's us who opted for it. There are multiple scholarships, but if you have decent academics, you can avail 10,000 pounds scholarship easily.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I am in the School of Computing Science and Technology Department. The faculty of this department are very knowledgeable and have multiple research papers; some of them are pioneers in their field like CNN, Derpfake and Data Mining. The best part about this university is that they give you ample time to complete your assignments, and you can always reach out to professors with your doubts. The faculty is quite diverse, with teachers from India, Russia, Greece, Britain, Middle Eastern countries and other Southeast Asian countries.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The current job market is horrible here in the UK. Lancaster is a very small place, and no tech jobs are available here. However, there are plenty of jobs available for marketing and core software development, but you need patience and good skills to land a job. The new tax rules and the high cost of living are going to make it very hard for a middle-class income stream to survive in the UK. There are hidden taxes as well like water tax, society tax, council tax which makes it hard to save any penny. Based on my experience, the UK is good for a few years, but I would opt out myself from setting down here.

Tips: I took some time to adjust due to massive changes in weather as well as culture. I did receive a scholarship from my state government for the program. I was fairly satisfied with my course and university. The faculty members are really helpful and ready to help.
Likes (Value for money): The faculty and resources are worth the money spent. The course is very intense and will not give to time to sit and relax. Apart from curriculum, it does teach you a lot of things. The one-year program helps in developing your soft skills. Also, the career team is also really helpful.
Dislikes (Internships): As it is just a 1-year master's program, you don’t get enough time to do an internship. Also, the department does not allow due to time constraints. Some programs do provide a chance to work on industrial projects instead of research projects but that varies from program to program.

My time at Lancaster University was a transformative chapter of learning and self-discovery.
Tips: In the first few days, there were definitely things to adapt to, but presumably not on cultural aspects. In fact, we definitely enjoyed mixing in the cosmopolitan environment in and outside of the campus. We were surprised how people even outside the campus were so friendly and accommodating. I got a good scholarship that helped me with my budget and financing my entire education term. I am more than 100% satisfied with the university and wish to come back if given a chance.
Likes (Internships): While not actually an internship, the final MBA module gave an opportunity to work with Network Rail through the consulting case challenge. For this, the career team helped us a lot and guided us throughout the process, and it was also easier to find opportunities in the field of domain I belonged to.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): While jobs were definitely there, and I have landed quite a few interviews as well, the problem of not getting hired was certainly related to work visas. Although this was not explicitly mentioned any time, it was quite clear of the same. However, considering the change in post-study work visas, things have definitely improved.

Wholesome experience with opportunities for loads of new learning
Tips: If you're eyeing Lancaster the first thing you need to know is that it’s not about dealing with some crazy cultural shock and it’s honestly just about diving into a massive mix of diversity. There is a ton to take in and figure out when you first get here. Because the campus is absolutely massive, you’re not just stuck doing schoolwork all day; they throw a ridiculous amount of extra stuff and societies at you alongside the actual degrees. Plus, the setting is pretty unique. It feels like a proper piece of England with these incredible, wide-open views of the actual British countryside right on your doorstep. But at the same time, you're still right in the middle of a huge international student community.

Tips: Don't miss the freshers' week; you will get to know the university and make friends at that point. After that, everyone will be busy with their work. Don't forget to join societies you like. make sure you get a library card and inquire about different activities; you will find many.
Likes (Student Life): The campus is huge, and there is a lot of activity to do. I have seen other universities in London; the campuses are split into small campuses at different locations. The student union is active; there are different colleges. Before choosing one, I would recommend visiting. I am talking about Pendle, etc.
Dislikes (Safety): The city's locals had assaulted my friend and tried to rob him at night. The university didn't take any action, nor did the local authorities; they simply registered a complaint. At nighttime, avoid waking in a dark alley or parking lot. On campus is no problem; I am talking about the city.

Excellent faculty, great campus and a welcome change to your regular life
Tips: For the MBA course, it is geared towards folks with some business experience and acumen. Don't expect the MBA to create unique opportunities, as an MBA in these places is a wrapper to your core skill. Hence, consider your financial leverage as well, but if everything falls into place, make the shift. You will like it, and it gives you room to expand your thinking.
Likes (Student Life): Very relaxed and easy going campus Decent food options on campus The city center was just 3 km away and buzzing each day and night. Overall I liked the small little town of Lancaster and had very little to complain about. Preston, which was a 45 min ride away from Lancaster, had much wider options for shopping and entertainment, and Manchester is a large city...you get a good mix in that sense.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): This goes beyond the university, as immigration rules are governed by the laws, but economic opportunities in the UK are reducing each year, and hence the rating. The quality of education is absolutely commendable, and one is exposed to a way of thinking that one may not have seen before.

Friendly peers and amazing faculty.
Tips: One should be open minded when going to study abroad, it opened my thought process like never before.
I availed a scholarship and was satisfied with my university, course and country. Given the current dynamics of war, I would probably choose somewhere else, but the UK will always be the place I can go.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty was knowledgeable and very approachable. They are still approachable and assist whenever it is needed for me. They are always ready to help. The teaching faculty at my time was very diverse and so was the cohort; we had people from all around the globe.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The public transportation of Lancaster is good, but it's not the best, as there is only public bus services and it was from the underpass only which was far from the accommodation and is at the centre of campus. The public transportation is fairly affordable.

Great university and definitely value for money.
Tips: It might require some months to get used to the culture and accent. Exams were similar to India. Kind of satisfied with the university as the campus was very big and had shops and food places also a huge number of international students, so it was a good experience.
Likes (Public transportation): Stagecoach bus is available till midnight every half hour so coming from the university to the City Centre was not an issue. You can take a bus pass, which is a term bus pass and it’s going to cost you around 150 to 160 for a term and it's good value for money.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Only a few restaurants are available in the city, considering that if someone is vegetarian, they will have to mostly cook the food on their own. There are a lot of grocery stores available around the city, but most of them are quite expensive for Indian foods. There are a few Indian shops in the city.

An Ancient, Wonderful University; The University of Glasgow
Tips: You should be completely certain about what you want to do before applying to this university. If you are looking for a job in the UK, I would advise you to study a vocational degree. Do not study Computer Engineering/Science. Due to recent trends and the development of GenAI/Agentic AI, the need for junior developers has decreased. For people who have studied Computer Science, I would advise you to study Data Science/Analysis/Cloud Computing. AI companies are constantly in need of Data Scientists, and there certainly is a great demand for it. If you have a good grip on programming languages, a few years of work experience from India, and perhaps a few courses on AI from Coursera or IBM, you would look highly employable. For those who have done a B.BA/B. Comm, I would recommend getting into specialized degrees. If you choose to do an MBA, that's great, but degrees that are a bit more specific, like Human Resource Management, International Business Relations, Finance, Supply Chain Management, etc. Would be great too. But make sure that you have work experience before coming to the UK because there are lots of people with MBAs, so there is more supply than demand. As for people from my own field, the Humanities, I would encourage you not to study degrees that look nice on paper. I know it feels good to study the subject you are good at, and believe me, I did it too, but there is not a large amount of opportunity for work in fields like these. For you, I would recommend studying Journalism, Marketing, and Media because these are vocational degrees which will increase your chances of getting a job. If you studied a degree like English Literature in your undergraduate studies, it will be easy for you to get a job as a content writer, Editor, marketing specialist, or Copywriter in India. You can use the work experience you obtained there along with a degree that directly supplements the skills. The most employable of these fields would be in marketing, so keep that in min
Likes (Public transportation): I rated it 5/5 because, like most cities in the UK, transportation is quite good in Glasgow. There is a brilliant subway system (the Clockwork Orange) connect most of Central Glasgow to the University, and there are plenty of bus routes available as well. If you happen to be under 22 at the time you are coming to Scotland (not the UK, just Scotland), you can apply for a Young Scot Card, allowing you to travel on the bus for free until you turn 22. There is also ScotRail (the national railway), which has local stops all over the city, and the beautiful thing is, it connects other Scottish cities and British cities too!
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I rated it 2/5 because of how difficult it has currently become for international students to stay in the UK and work there. Essentially, it has become difficult to obtain a Skilled Worker visa and, consequently, the Indefinite Leave to Remain status. After finishing your degree, the UK does provide you with the option to apply for a Graduate Visa (Post Study Work visa), but that is the easiest of the Next hurdles you will have to face in order to get a proper job. Before anything, you must understand that a Graduate Visa is an investment of at least u00a33,000 (Rs. 3,87,666), not including rent, food, transport, etc. This visa provides a graduate some time to look for a job that sponsors you to stay. This is ESPECIALLY difficult for a candidate with no work experience. The company that provides a Skilled Worker visa to a graduate has to pay a sum of money every year to the government, and this is difficult for them to justify in the case of a person with no work experience. My advice to you is that you should pursue your undergraduate degree in India, get a job, and work there for 2-3 years before planning an educational trip to the UK. This will also give you some time to think about which line of work you actually want to do before making such a heavy investment in your education (it is about u00a335,000 for a year in a Master's degree). If you come to the UK with 1 undergraduate degree and 2-3 years of work experience under your belt, it will make you a far more attractive candidate for employers and heighten your chances of landing a sponsored job.

The Journey to the University of Glasgow
Tips: Upon arriving in Glasgow, I definitely took some time to acclimatise to the culture and traditions around here. But it didn't take much time to adapt and settle down after getting a sense of life here. The most asked question is the monthly budget apart from tuition fees, and I'd say it depends on how deep your pockets are. You can definitely penny-pinch to live in accommodation for lower rent and survive on the bare minimum, or do the opposite, but a good range would be around 1000-2000 pounds a month for your rent, shopping, travel, etc. As far as the university and the course, it's a wonderful Uni with a great history and heritage we are privileged to be a part of. A wonderful city filled with wonders and culture in every street.
Likes (Indian Food): Every other street in Glasgow has an Indian restaurant. And the quality of food in many of them resembles home food, leaving you nostalgic. Additionally, there are now restaurants that cater specifically to various cuisines within India and offer specialised food as well. Though I prefer to cook at home, I also enjoy occasionally splurging on a good Indian meal every now and then.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Although there could be a lot of opportunities for you after your master's degree, the competition is very high. Moreover, as an international student, you are facing some additional challenges while searching for jobs with visa sponsorship. Now, very few organizations are willing to fund students' education to get them into entry-level jobs. It might be worth it if you are going to take a master's course, but I cannot understand why you want to turn it into a job here.

All in all, embracing independence despite the initial loneliness is an exciting experience.
Likes (Student Life): In light of the wonderful neo-Gothic architecture, such as the building of Hogwarts Castle and the activities surrounding the university, the University of Glasgow features many cultural associations, which include Indian and Tamil associations. Not only do they study, but the students can also go to interesting places such as Byres Road, or they could even immerse themselves in the Scotch and Scottish pub culture. In the end, making an adventure out of it all makes life romantic.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Ultimately, success is dependent on the state of mind of the person involved. People who are committed to establishing a future for themselves in the country will go out of their way to try to stay in the country. It is, however, clear that a lot of luck comes into play, and immigration laws have become much stricter in recent times. In a very uncertain environment, those who manage to get their sponsorship will prove their worth.

Tips: The city of Glasgow is a good place for studies, although, like any other place, it has both merits and demerits. The main merit of the city is that one can learn a lot from it and create many memorable moments, although on the other hand, it becomes very overwhelming to start with because one learns about the level of commitment required.
Likes (Student Life): Student life there is fantastic, you make lots of friends, companions for life, plus you learn about a different side of yourself that you never knew existed. Student life is easygoing apart from assignments, there are loads of offers one can use and redeem as a student to help save money as well.

Challenges and benefits of student life University of Glasgow ( quantum technology course)
Tips: Scottish people are really friendly, so it should be fine. Main thing I need to say that focus on studies because it's a prestigious university and have lot of classes and assignments are there for the course, those who tried to do part time have mostly had failure issues in their courses. So best course is to survive with loan money and then look for anything after course finishes. Case otherwise we close the aim what we came here. If it solely for part time it would be hard for you. Course is really good to be honest, but it's mostly related to hardware rather than quantum computing software side. But also you won't have much time to relax mostly we will be library and research. I applied for international scholarship which give 10000 pound discount on student feels which I got but please apply early as possible because it is limited.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty is really good for my course, but do not expect teaching strategy will be similar to India and understanding of teaching is mid, because mostly it will be like professors show and teach current research we ourselves have to put effort on it to understand exactly what it is there. Also you will get opportunities to access lot of sources required for course which is enough.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): PR is currently really hard in UK as visa rules are getting tighter and tighter. Also even for job opportunities it's a tight situation. But if you are planning for Ph.D. research funding is mostly towards home students, still options are there. All these being said, opportunities are there but it requires experience .

It was quite an easy adjustment, even though it took some time to adapt to the weather conditions, new food and an overall different lifestyle. Glasgow is a multicultural city, so it was very easy to meet people from other countries. Do you have any scholarship? If yes, how did you get it and what is the stipend? I do not have any scholarship. How satisfied are you with your university, course and country? In general, I am quite satisfied with the University of Glasgow, the Data Science course and staying in the UK.
Likes (Part time work): Why have you rated 5 for Student Life? I have rated it 5 because something is happening outside the classrooms at all times. The campus is active, and there are many ways to make contacts and hang out with your mates. What do you do in the course of your day in college? What do you like most? Most of my time is devoted to attending lessons and working on assignments. In addition to that, I spend my time hanging out with friends, visiting the library, and exploring the campus. I like the social aspect of studying in university most. What kinds of events do they organise at your university? How often do you attend them? There are many different events held during the year, such as social, society, talks, sports and cultural events. I participate whenever I have an opportunity, especially in social and student events. What student clubs and communities are there on your campus? There are many societies and clubs devoted to sports, culture, music, games, technology, academic studies and many other things.
Dislikes (Internships): Why did you rate 5 on Quality of faculty? The faculty are knowledgeable and explain things clearly. They are also supportive and have good subject knowledge. How accessible and approachable is the faculty in your department? They are easy to approach and usually respond to questions. We can contact them through email or speak to them after classes. Share details about the teaching methodology that you find unique in your department. There is a good mix of lectures, practical work and coursework. We get to work with real datasets and apply what we learn instead of only studying theory. How diverse is the teaching faculty in terms of nationality? The faculty is quite diverse, with staff from different countries and backgrounds. This also gives the department a good international feel.

Tips: The university doesn't provide any help regarding jobs; if you fail any subject, they don't even help you in resits. The University professors are busier with the undergraduates than they are invested in Postgraduate students. Try not to come to University of Glasgow.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transport is well connected in the city and the outskirts too. You can go to any place you want, as we travelled to a lot of places and liked them. The scenic views are beautiful around Glasgow; the only thing you will love about the city is its views.
Dislikes (Internships): University of Glasgow doesn't support students in finding jobs and even restrict to apply for Internships. I had an internship, and the University denied me access, saying that in a Master's course you can't do any internship unless it is given by my University.

Tips: For someone from South Asia, it can be a massive cultural shock. Also, the Glaswegian accent is difficult to understand in your early days. I received the Chevening Scholarship, and I applied for it through their online portal. Overall, I would say it was a wholesome experience. The course, the university, and the city of Glasgow gave me the best memories.
Likes (Student Life): Apart from attending the usual classes, there are many seminars/workshops that you can attend to boost your network. Also, the library is awesome, students spend a lot of time there, especially during their research. There are different academic clubs, sports/adventure clubs, arts clubs, international communities, students support communities.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): As I returned to my country, I didn't really look for any options for permanent settlement there. However, there are a few friends who have had some decent opportunities to settle there. I personally would not permanently immigrate to this country, but would love to visit it often.

The college campus is beautiful, and courses are structured according to your convenience (you get to choose your optional classes and timings). The city itself is beautiful. The university also has a lot of clubs you can be a part of. There are a lot of events organised by the student committee. Research your course carefully. Understand the course structure (which will be provided on the university website). There's a lot of help available from faculty and student committees. Don't hesitate to contact them. Contact alumni from your course to know better.
Likes (Internships): My course had a compulsory subject called 'Work Placement'. This course is an excellent addition to the degree and helped us gain field experience related to what we studied. The faculty would provide us with a list of companies/ngos that were in need of student interns, and we did the internship for a course of 4 months.
Dislikes (Value for money): I think if you're planning to do this course, an engineering or architecture background would be more helpful. The course was very well structured, and I have no complaints about it. But the job opportunities for the future would definitely require you to be from a technical background, rather than a non-technical one, which I am from. This is a personal opinion since I am not from an engineering background. For a student with a teaching background who wishes to learn towards sustainability or building public space, this is surely an amazing degree.

Glasgow is about its people
Tips: Glasgow is very friendly and quite open to people of all cultures. The University also offers scholarships for Indian students (like the Merit one and a few others). You can always apply for a lot of funding opportunities during your course as well. I was quite satisfied. I focused on the coursework during the year without any part-time hassle and ended up with a Distinction. I must say that the coursework during the year is highly technical and stressful, especially if you are in STEM. The quality of education and the requirement of independent study and work are vastly different compared to India. You will not be spoon-fed, and you will be expected to have punctuality, effort, and time management all on your own while taking care of personal life as well.
Likes (Internships): The careers portals designed for students and graduates of UoG are pretty helpful, they also run a lot of events, consulting, and all-round help towards applications. A lot of the time, you can graduate and find academic work within the department itself as well, or a role in one of the admin/support teams of the college as well.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are plenty of on-campus part-time jobs, but there are also other students, and in a one-year M.Sc. course you are competing for some jobs that people here are experienced in. If it's a niche role in your subject, quite possible. I would suggest not doing a lot of part-time work during your studies if you want a really good grade. If you only care about passing your degree, then you can afford 10-15 hours of part-time work per week. You are allowed to work up to 20 hours as a student per week, and you get the NI pay, which is about a bit over u00a312 per hour.

Tips: Scholarships are possible for international students, especially from India. The usual scholarship amount is £5,000; the maximum is £10,000. The university is good for exposure. Cultural shifts exist because there are not a lot of Indian communities in Glasgow as compared to England, especially London. Overall, the course and university are good for international students. They are welcoming.
Likes (Indian Food): Glasgow, as a city, offers a lot of choices across restaurants, across every cuisine. There are plenty of Indian restaurants to order from. Also, there are Indian shops as well for groceries where you can buy a lot of ready-to-eat food items from Haldiram and other brands, which makes cooking easier as well. These Indian grocery shops basically provide you everything essential for cooking as well.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Not a lot of options are available for international students; no direct university placements are happening as well. Based on the government guidelines, it’s very difficult for the forms for our intern students; even if they are doing that, they have to pay a minimum of £35,000 annually, and they are only allowed to work for one and a half years post-education, which makes it challenging to find a job.

UofG - The university that helped me discover myself
Tips: There was a big cultural shift. A lot of diversity is something that stood out to me. It was a wonderful experience interacting with people across the world and learning about their culture. I did not find any scholarship. I am extremely satisfied with the university. The course curriculum was also incredible detailed. The professors were extremely helpful in aiding my transition from engineering to physics research.
Likes (Indian Food): Food options were great, honestly. Lots of Indian restaurants all around. Lots of places to try a lot of cuisines. You can source prices and a lot of Indian spices as well. I did pack some spices myself from home, but there are also spices available to buy at local stores.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Chances of permanent settlement in the country are a bit of a problem right now due to stricter anti-migration laws. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful place to settle. Personally, I wouldn't settle in the UK. But that's just me XD. Although I can definitely see why it's a very attractive option. Beautiful place, wonderful people, and amazing weather (I love cold places).

Tips: The campus is humongous and the city is very vibrant. I personally felt welcome and it's not like you will feel alone. There are so many societies in the University that you can join and meet people. I applied through a consultancy before coming here, you can do it alone as well but it makes the process easier. I received the India Merit Award which was based on my Undergrad marks. Check the University and the coursework you are applying to thoroughly. Check the job opportunities and be prepared.
Likes (Safety): The city is very safe, you can walk in the area at night, especially Glasgow West End and you won't feel anything. Students always have an app provided by the university that they can use whenever they run into any kind of problem that requires immediate attention. It's like a 24x7 service available over the call, irrespective of you being on campus or not. Luckily, I hadn't had any such experience. Glasgow is a very vibrant city full of diversity and amazing people.
Dislikes (Internships): You will have plenty of opportunities for an internship but the competition is fierce; you need to keep an eye out for internships as there are only a few spots. You might not get an internship if you are in your Master's as most of them are looking for undergrad students and if you are able to find some, it might not be in your relevant field of study. The university does offer a lot of internships for which you can apply. They are both paid and unpaid.

I appreciate the low-stress environment, the helpful staff, and the numerous student support platforms, along with the campus's overall beauty. The college organises many events, such as Holi parties, Garba nights, Halloween events, summer barbecues, and industrial visits, and I participate in around 1-5 of them. There are also various communities for different religions and nationalities, such as Indian student clubs, student welfare groups, and mental well-being initiatives.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking for myself. Local restaurants mostly serve non-vegetarian food, and as a vegetarian, I've noticed many use beef oil. Additionally, Indian restaurants here don't taste authentic; the food is often overly sweet, and the prices are high compared to the quality and quantity.
