Master of Financial Mathematics - Batch of 2026
4.3
Great value-for-money program.
Tips: One of the best courses with a strong curriculum and excellent career support. The Financial Mathematics programme at NC State offers a well-structured and rigorous curriculum. The career services are outstanding and very supportive with good industry exposure and guidance. Tuition is reasonable compared to similar programs and there are multiple scholarship opportunities available. Additionally, there are plenty of on-campus part-time jobs available for students. A great value-for-money programme.
Likes (Value for money): It is one of the best courses with a strong curriculum, excellent career services and reasonable tuition. Being rigorous academically and having excellent career guidance along with great industry exposure with hands-on projects makes this a great value-for-money programme.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Mostly American food options are available at a reasonable price. Indian grocery and food options are not very accessible. I prefer cooking for myself which reduces living expenses by a considerable amount. There is a Feed the Pack free grocery service which you can avail for basic groceries.

Very fulfilling experience.
Tips: The university here is very diverse, and there is plenty of representation on campus. Once you're settled, things move much smoothly and the bus services are free to help you get around. There is an Indian restaurant available, although not as authentic as you might like, but there are plenty of options nearby. I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

MS Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.5
Great university for aerospace and Indian students.
Tips: Cultural shock might initially be challenging but the large Indian student population at NC State makes it easy to make friends, which can help ease homesickness. Securing Resident Assistant (RA) or Teaching Assistant (TA) positions is quite competitive so plan accordingly. Finding part-time work is relatively easy; dining jobs offer $10 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week, which can cover living expenses if you share a room and budget carefully. Over time you may be able to move into a higher grade or departmental position which is less demanding and offers better pay. Scholarships for Indian nationals are scarce. The university is excellent with a good faculty, well structured coursework and strong research opportunities. Be prepared to dedicate yourself to your studies. The academic approach here differs significantly from Indian universities; cramming won't suffice for good grades. Plan your studies thoroughly

Been a wonderful experience with great academics and faculty.
Tips: Living in NCSU has been an adventure in a lot of senses. You will be expected to bring out the best of your potential in the classrooms while being an active part of the community as well so all in all, you will be pretty busy. The city has a lot of interesting spots to explore but avoid eating out if you are planning on saving some cash. Overall, I am very satisfied with the course, college and the country.

Learning and growing every day at North Carolina State University.
Tips: I have transitioned well since coming to North Carolina State University. Before arriving I had visited the States a few times and was somewhat familiar with the customs. That probably helped me avoid any major culture shock. Take advantage of your leaves and explore the diversity of the city and other parts of the country if possible. There are so many things to see and do and you will be amazed at what you discover.

North Carolina State University has been an ideal place for me to learn and grown significantly.
Tips: What I have realised so far is that while the coursework here is challenging, it can also be rewarding. I've learnt to manage my academic commitments with extra curriculums and truly enjoy the experience offered here at NCSU. Students should use a planner or a digital calendar to help them out with their deadlines and planning. The exam patterns here are very different from those in India so it might take some time to adjust our faculty are helpful and you can reach out to them without any hesitation. There are numerous events and seminars held to help students so you should participate in them.

Tips: After spending a decent amount of time here, I can see that NCSU has made a significant amount of progress in promoting diversity and inclusion which is seen through the multicultural celebrations around campus and representation in the student body as well. I did not receive any scholarships but there are a number of resources available for underprivileged and underrepresented students so speak with your guidance counsellors. North Carolina State University provides a great learning environment.
Tips: I have become much more adaptable and understanding after spending some time in this environment. I would say that people here are more independent and more private in terms of lifestyles and boundaries so you ought to keep that in mind. Aside from this, the research programs have given me opportunities to work on projects I am passionate about and with faculty who are experts in their fields.

Tips: I have been undergoing constant transformation in my personality ever since I joined NCSU and most of it has benefitted me overall. Tips: I have seen a lot of personal transformation and developments within my personality after coming here. There was a phase initially where I found things to be quite familiar but NCSU has a truly helpful student community and services to make things simpler. Overwhelming but worthwhile.
Tips: Everything here moves at a fast pace, and the feeling of the East Coast is entirely different from the West Coast. Be fully prepared before joining, as professors expect you to be more independent.
Tips: I had a great time here and that's largely because I was mentally prepared and came with a decent scholarship. Otherwise expenses can really add up. The people here are individualistic, and professors expect you to be more independent, which was something I struggled with. I recommend being open to collaborations and projects as they stand out more than your GPA.

There's a hackathon almost every other week to keep our skills sharp.
Tips: There are tons of events on campus, and there's a hackathon almost every other week to keep my skills sharp. It's easy to make connections with people from other majors because of these events, and it's a great way to make friends, too. Of course, not everything is perfect. One of the first things that really hit me was the weather and how cold it can get, so you'd better come prepared. Plus, the campus Wi-Fi is a bit unreliable, so make sure you're ahead of your work so you don't get caught when it inevitably goes out.

UMass is a fun university
Tips: I think students should know how to communicate because it's the most important thing that I came across. I didn't know anything about scholarships but Shiksha helped me with that. On a scale 1 to 10, I'll rate 8 for the university, course and country I'll rate 6 because of their health care system.
Likes (Indian Food): There are several Indian restaurants in Boston. But I prefer cooking at home as it is healthy and pocket-friendly. There are lots of Indian grocery stores, where we mostly get all the Indian vegetables as most vegetarian students that I know have no issue finding the food/vegetarian food they like.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Few of the professors are not from United States, therefore it becomes difficult to understand their accents. Otherwise, their experience in the particular field is what a student gets the most help from. We have post discussion every week, an assignment exam every 2 weeks, then weekly presentations and group presentations. And a mid term and final exam.

It is just fine, not worth the amount of money I am paying. But just okay.
Tips: I have had a massive change in my personality. There is not a big cultural shift as all the masters' students are Indians, so you feel at home and don’t rely on getting international exposure a lot until you meet different people. I got a total of 4k off my tuition in terms of scholarship. Overall, the college and course is just fine.
Likes (Internships): Internships are not a lot, you can always make connections and talk to career services. You can also talk to alumni or your professors.
There is, but there is a lot of fight seeing how bad the market is right now and how competitive the market is. All you can do is keep applying.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I usually go with what is the cheapest. Usually Uber eats have a lot deals on a daily basis where you can get buy1 get 1 and I am a non vegetarian so I have a lot of options for myself. For vegetarians, you might have options, but it would be less.
Usually cooking by myself, but sometimes you can cheat
