All-rounder, good crowd, fun and exciting.
Tips: It's the best place to be in. If you're a party person it's the best city you can beat. We have got several societies if you're into curricular, you name it, we've got it. I love how we have multiple diversities studying on one campus. Love meeting people from new places and I don't see a room for discrimination.
Likes (Student Life): Newcastle is the best city to have a good student life. It has two main universities Newcastle and Northumbria. It makes a lot of students from around the world to come and settle in. The good part about the city is that it is fun when you want it to be fun. Good experiences.
Dislikes (Part time work): I haven't gotten any yet and I don't see the university helping me with part time roles. University doesn't play a major role in helping you find a part time; honestly, you'll have to figure that out on your own. I did a lot of walk-ins to end up getting some response.

Fun, engaging and vibrant social life.
Tips: One of the best universities and it will teach you more about life. Honesty, things here are not that easy but hard work and not giving up will definitely lead you towards sponsored jobs, part time roles and so on. Academically, sports, other societies, everything is good.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is really good here. They won't stress you up. You get enough time to put together your learnings and apply them meaningfully. Also, the city is nice and the university is within a 20 minute walk from the city areas so less travelling. You'll also enjoy the nightlife.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Because it doesn't fully depend on the university and job market but also on the individual. I see students hustling more than others and they secure jobs because of the hard work they do. There are plenty of opportunities here and you will explore more job fields than your field of study.

Tips: This place is awesome. The opportunities are great. It's a great place to study the environment is chill and they have awesome libraries. Living here is affordable and everything's set up well. Everything is close by shops, bookstores even the university printers. The transportation is good and easy to use. I totally recommend this place; the country is great, friendly and welcoming. Great faculty and interactive classes.
Tips: Be punctual and proactive. You should always stay active in the classes and listen to the teaching from the professor, as that will help you in your dissertation. I am very much satisfied with the faculty and the NUBS Team because they are very supportive.
Likes (Value for money): Ambience and education level are excellent, as well as teaching staff is very supportive. Every professor is very much interested in our doubts and queries. If you have any doubt related to studies, then you can directly email the professor and they will shortly answer you don't.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Dakwala restaurant is 20 per person. And this is too expensive for a one time meal for an international student coming from India. There are no such monthly tiffin options here for Indian food but when you come here then you'll automatically learn how to cook.

4.3
A supportive and career focused university experience in a student-friendly city.
Tips: The transition was smooth but there were some cultural adjustments. Teaching style is more self-directed and independent study is expected. People are friendly but social interaction and communication style differ from India. Weather can be a surprise with shorter winter days and colder climate.
Likes (Public transportation): Newcastle has one of the most convenient, reliable and affordable transport systems for students. Newcastle University is extremely central. The campus is within walking distance of the city centre. Well connected by metro, buses, trains and even e-scooters.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The job market in the UK especially for data-related roles, is promising, but securing a sponsored role still requires effort, networking, and strong skills. A good number of mid-size to large companies in the UK Sponsor Skilled worker visas. In the data space, these commonly include: Major consulting firms, Tech Companies, Financial institutions.

Newcastle is a vibrant student city.
Tips: Newcastle is a student city. It is vibrant alive and thrilling. But prepare yourself for the cold, walking at least 10,000 steps a day and cooking your own food. Start looking for part-time jobs from the day you move in particularly during the vacation period. At university, make friends, participate in activities and events. Also ensure you're attending lectures because this is where you build an academic network. Newcastle is a fun and absolutely safe city.

A good all rounder university for students.
Tips: I availed a scholarship of 7000 pounds and it is easy to get for Indian students and the transition was smooth. While starting university, we had a big welcome week to get us accustomed to here. I feel you can quickly get accustomed here. I'm satisfied with my university course and the city is also quite small and easily accessible.
Likes (Value for money): It is justified that you get study, lecture, seminar and computer cluster while also helping in getting jobs, CV and helping in mental health well being. Altogether you get worth of what you pay for. First thing they give you is free things like freebies, fair. You go to different activities and volunteer here.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Immigration and post work visa options are not very good in the UK, while a riot is also going on in this country. I wouldn't stay after my course. If you can get a job in this market you will already have proved yourself. Just be ready to give many interviews and job applications.

Tips: Newcastle University has been a smooth transition. Friendly professors, approachable staff and a welcoming culture. No major cultural shift, great support, and very satisfied with my course and the university environment. My course is research oriented and so I have less theoretical classes.
Dislikes (Safety): Faculty here is highly knowledgeable supportive and very approachable. Their teaching blends theory with real-world examples making learning engaging. The department is also quite diverse with staff from multiple nationalities.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are good job opportunities, and many companies are open to hiring international graduates. Some roles also offer visa sponsorship. Especially in growing fields. The market is positive through competition. Realistic for dedicated students.

Good faculty and friendly people.
Tips: Start applying for jobs as soon as you arrive and attend all the seminars. There are 7000 pound scholarships available and numerous scholarships are also available for Indian students but you have to apply for them separately. Groceries and costs are cheaper in Newcastle compared to other cities and there are plenty of part-time job opportunities.
Likes (Value for money): The various events are held almost all week, attend all the job fair and career fair, they are very important and you will also get certain exemptions from ACCA paper so know this and merit student will get CFA scholarship, I think which is very nice.
Dislikes (Internships): Everything is very nice and especially the career cell of Newcastle University is fab and the city is very chill and cool. People here are very friendly. You will have access to your Newcastle portals through which you will get all the material you want.

Affordable city, quality education and respectful people.
Tips: The transition was smooth though there's a clear cultural shift. Classes are interactive and self-study is key. I didn't take any scholarships but there are several if you apply early. I'm very satisfied with the university, course and city. Newcastle is affordable, supportive and great for both academic and personal growth.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation in Newcastle is extremely convenient and reliable. Most essential places are within walking distance from the campus which already makes daily travel easy. On top of that, the city has frequent buses that run on time, and students get discounted fares when using the Pop card. The city is well connected, affordable and very student friendly.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time jobs in Newcastle are available but not easy to secure especially when you first arrive. On-campus roles are limited and usually competitive so most students rely on off-campus opportunities in retail, hospitality or restaurants. By the time Christmas season arrives, hiring increases and most students manage to find something. Balancing part-time work with academics is manageable as long as you sick to 15 to 20 hours a week. The coursework requires consistent self-study so time management becomes important. The average payout for part-time work range from minimum wage to slightly higher depending on the role.

MSc in Renewable Energy, Enterprise and Management (REEM) - Batch of 2026
4.3
A supportive university with strong academics and global exposure.
Tips: Before joining this college students should know that the academic environment is quite independent and research-oriented, so good time management, self-study, and proactive communication with lecturers are essential. The assessment style focuses more on assignments, projects, and critical thinking rather than wrote learning. My transition was smooth though there was an initial cultural shift in terms of teaching style, punctuality, and communication. People are generally polite and professional, and adapting to independent living and academic expectations took some time but became comfortable gradually. I did not avail of a scholarship, but the university provides guidance on external funding options, early-payment discounts, and part-time work opportunities to support students financially. I am satisfied with the university, the course structure, and the country, as they offer good academic quality, international exposure, and a safe, welcoming environment for international students.
Dislikes (Student Life): It's better nice to be here and participate in everything. I am at social club in university. Meeting new friends and sharing knowledge is best. The campus offers a good balance between academics and social activities, though participation depends largely on individual involvement. I enjoy being part of the social club as meeting new people and sharing knowledge makes college life more engaging and enjoyable. The university regularly organizes cultural festivals, workshops, career events, sports activities and society meet-ups. I try to participate whenever possible, especially in social and networking events. There are various student clubs and communities such as social clubs, cultural societies, sports teams, academic groups and volunteering communities, which create a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Vibrant student life.
Tips: Be prepared for the climate change and windy weather, it could also get yourself a nice windbreaker and coats, also get yourself comfortable fair or shoes. But everything is awesome and you're going to love it here, places to go around which feel like dreamland, castles, beaches and lovely people.
Likes (Part time work): 12.21 pounds per hour if you are over 21, but for under minimum wage is around 10 which I am not very sure of. But you can sometimes get more than minimum pay in on-campus jobs as they also pay more to students. If you are coming in September, I will try to start the job hunt as soon as possible.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Currently threshold is very high and very low chances of getting a sponsorship visa. Also, the post-study work visa is reduced to 18 months, which is gonna impact the job searches. But if you have the required skills, you can land a sponsorship role, but it's always best to make connections.

MSc in Renewable Energy, Enterprise and Management (REEM) - Batch of 2026
4.5
Best university for students with low budget.
Tips: As of now, it's very different from what I had thought of. I loved the way of teaching. There are lots of chances in my social and professional life. I regret that while I say this, the civic sense of the people in the UK is far better than our home country, India. I got the Vice Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship, which covers 7000 against the tuition fee. This is based on earlier grades and experiences and is awarded on a "first-come, first-served" basis. I am very much satisfied with the university, the course and the country. I love them all.
Likes (Student Life): In general, very welcoming and friendly people. The city is peaceful and beautiful. Teachers and neighbours are very helpful. Classes are very much interactive and learning is based on two-way communication. A lot of support is provided to the international students; you just need to grab it. All kinds of sports and cultural events are being organised on campus. And we often have chances to win prizes and events, also support freebies for students, so that's a plus point. There are clubs for dance music and all the sports one can think of. So don't worry, students have enough chances to showcase their skills and talents.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Visa rules are being changed and there is very less scope for international students to get settled. For PhD and jobs also, as per the government guidelines, companies and universities focus more on home students than international ones. ILR entry pathways have been extended to 10 years from the earlier 5 years. My chances of getting a permanent settlement are at a moderate level. Although I have an engineering background but job market is quite competitive for experienced people. And as a renewable energy engineer with 2 years of experience, it's comparatively easier for me than other study backgrounds. Given a chance, then of course I would like to permanently immigrate to this not because of job or money, but because of civic sense and work-life balance.

A welcoming, high quality university with vibrant city.
Tips: Vibrant city with good nightlife. Before joining Newcastle, students should know that it's a research intensive, academically demanding institution with a friendly campus culture, a relatively affordable cost of living compared to southern UK cities.
Dislikes (Part time work): I have not been able to secure one and it's been 3 months since I came. There are jobs available on campus as well but difficult to get one in the engineering domain; mostly are for research and sports. Getting a part time is highly competitive, and often they are filled too quickly.

Suryansh Singh
BSc Honours in Computer Science - Batch of 2026
4.4
Supportive, relaxed and student focused.
Tips: Make sure you are aware of the annual increase in the academic fees. When I joined I didn't know my fees would increase every year by 2000 GBP so make sure you contact the university and confirm this for your course. First year in the university was quite depressing since I felt very homesick but I made a lot of good friends so when you join the university, please make sure you arrive a week before the induction because in early weeks you will make most of your friends, and socialize as much as possible, explore the city with friends, do activities with them, etc. I received a Vice Chancellor International Scholarship from the university for all 3 years of the course which was around 4000 GBP per year. I also received a student sponsorship scholarship from my placement year company due to my good performance. I am very well satisfied with my university, the fees are a bit high. The course has been average, I haven't been taught a lot of complex topics, mostly simple computer Science topics. The country has also been good, people are really nice. I didn't face any racism since I am here but the government looks a bit strict towards immigrants, so make sure you are aware of the policies and stuff before coming here.
Likes (Internships): The university provides various on campus short term internships. Since I've started my course I've completed 4-5 such internships related to my course which has helped my profile a lot. The university also has a very active careers site where they list various summer internships, placement internships.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I mostly prefer to order takeout food from Indian restaurants. There are a decent number of Indian restaurants in Newcastle like My New Delhi, Diwaan, etc. The food quality in these are 7.5/10. I didn't rate it 5 stars because there are a lot of bad indian restaurants as where the taste or quantity is not accurate and sometimes the food is not exactly how it is meant to be.

MSc in Data Science - Batch of 2025

If you’re passionate about learning and studying data science, it’s worth it.
Tips: It is important to know that the course is intensive and designed to give you knowledge and experience both through projects and coursework. Written skills are tested in sync with your technical skills and since it is a one-year course it might get a bit stressful around certain months. It is also important to note that even though it is stressful if you are really passionate about what you're studying then this won't be a problem for you in any way. It is actually enjoyable after the initial period of transition from the Indian education system to the UK one. Good experiences.
Likes (Value for money): I think the quality of education and guidance offered is beyond amazing. Resources offered not just on your career but your health and mindfulness made it a fun and enjoyable experience. Extra-curricular, a beautiful and walkable campus, good professors and very good accommodation on campus made the experience worthwhile to me.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Given that the job market in the UK is bad right now, it is affecting every student from every university, and mine is no exception. There are no campus placements in my course so the general market is the job market and it is equally fierce right now. Lancaster University has good 1:1 resources and workshops to help you tailor your resume and prepare for interviews, so I think while on campus, these should be used as much as possible.

Amazing experience and very proud to make the decision to study here.
Tips: Lancaster is a very small city, frequently travel to nearby cities like Preston or Manchester to get better things. Nightlife is safe and most clubs are friendly and open to all. If you choose your course wisely, you will have an opportunity of a lifetime. Make sure to knock on every door and you will get a part time job for sure and after university, use the alumni network to get a good job.
Likes (Safety): Best campus experience. The campus even after being large and open always felt secure. The marshals and officers are always on duty to help and assist you with everything. People around and on campus are active 24/7 you would not be in danger of any sort.
Dislikes (Indian Food): We have got limited number of non-European restaurants but we can go to nearby cities like Preston. Cooking for yourself can be a struggle but you will eventually learn it and make sure to keep a check on your diet to not fall sick. All major delivery partners would anyway be active.

A great place to grow and learn.
Tips: Lancaster University is ranked among the top 10 universities in the Complete University Guide 2025. The Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) Accounting and Finance programme is also ranked 7th in the Guardian University Guide 2025. The professors in my course were especially encouraging and always gave me the space to ask and clarify my questions. I am proud to be a scholarship recipient, having received awards from both the university and the management school. Lancaster University is the best choice for those who want to focus on both career development and academic excellence.
Likes (Public transportation): Every 10 minutes, you can catch a bus to the city centre or nearby areas from the university underpass. The buses also serve all on-campus locations, running from the underpass to the Graduate College. Students can get a student term pass to save some money on travel.
Dislikes (Internships): The M.Sc. Finance programme can be quite hectic and demanding, leaving little time for internships. Students are usually fully occupied with coursework, lectures, and tests.

Intense course at Lancaster University.
Tips: The course is excellent but the faculty doesn't meet the expected standards. Each term is three months long, but they cover the material in just two. Classes are six hours a day plus assignments and frequent tests. All major exams are handwritten, with two 50 mark questions on the final and grading is very strict. Around 30% of students fail. You have to manage your health diet and the climate. It is a challenging environment not easy at all. They expect dissertation quality at a Ph.D. level.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of part time jobs available catering to various interests and skills. As international students, we are limited to 20 hours per week, and Lancaster University offers sufficient opportunities to meet this visa requirement.
Dislikes (Internships): Firstly, the university provides insufficient support for internships in the M.Sc. in Accounting and Financial Management program. While there are career fairs they are not tailored for accounting students and undergraduate students seem to be prioritised over Master's students.

Leaving your comfort zone to experience the beautiful journey.
Tips: It is very important to get information about travel routes at the time of first arrival in the UK. A student must know how to take a train from Manchester to Lancaster. Walk for a few minutes from Lancaster railway station to Common Garden Street. Take a bus from Common Garden Street to Lancaster University, only buses numbers 100/1A/41/42. Arrive at the Underpass or Management school bus stop, then it's a walkable distance to their college porters. I got a scholarship of 5000. Lancaster University will automatically apply the scholarship if the grades are eligible. Overall, I am very satisfied with my course and university. It is a very intense course. I learned a lot; however, when it comes to placement, I am neutral.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation, like buses and trains, is very accessible here. There's a bus app, Stagecoach, where you can track live buses, bus numbers, timings, and duration. Also, if your bus or train is stuck due to a technical issue, the team takes responsibility to drop passengers to their location by arranging another mode of transportation. In the case of trains, sometimes, due to delays and issues, the ticket price is fully refunded, even after they drop you off.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK has quite limited options of getting permanent settlement compared to other countries. It is mandatory required first to get sponsored job then there are chances of applying for Indefinite leave to remain. Yes, if the right career opportunity comes I will surely apply for permanent residence here.

MSc Logistics & Supply Chain Management - Batch of 2025
Offered by Lancaster University

My experience at the university has been both academically rigorous and personally rewarding.
Tips: Before joining this college, students should know that academic expectations are high and independent learning is strongly encouraged. The transition can be challenging initially, especially when adapting to a new culture and its cultural norms, but a supportive environment makes it more manageable. The university is quite diverse and is very student-friendly.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty of our department is highly knowledgeable and experienced. They also bring strong academic and industry perspectives to the classroom. They are generally approachable and are very responsive to student queries via office hours or emails. The faculty are fairly diverse.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): If needed I believe I could work towards meeting the necessary requirements for permanent settlements especially through skilled employment pathways. The process can be competitive and dependent on Visa eligibility I would be confident in building a strong profile over time.

The current job market is horrible here in the UK.
Tips: I have upskilled myself in my field. Recently, our team won 2 consecutive CTF events in UK Lancashire and Yorkshire CTF events. I was also part of the team. Once you decide to move to any place, you should be ready to embrace cultural changes, sometimes it might be a shock but again it's us who opted for it. There are multiple scholarships, but if you have decent academics, you can avail 10,000 pounds scholarship easily.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I am in the School of Computing Science and Technology Department. The faculty of this department are very knowledgeable and have multiple research papers; some of them are pioneers in their field like CNN, Derpfake and Data Mining. The best part about this university is that they give you ample time to complete your assignments, and you can always reach out to professors with your doubts. The faculty is quite diverse, with teachers from India, Russia, Greece, Britain, Middle Eastern countries and other Southeast Asian countries.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The current job market is horrible here in the UK. Lancaster is a very small place, and no tech jobs are available here. However, there are plenty of jobs available for marketing and core software development, but you need patience and good skills to land a job. The new tax rules and the high cost of living are going to make it very hard for a middle-class income stream to survive in the UK. There are hidden taxes as well like water tax, society tax, council tax which makes it hard to save any penny. Based on my experience, the UK is good for a few years, but I would opt out myself from setting down here.

Samir’s experience at Lancaster.
Tips: I took some time to adjust due to massive changes in weather as well as culture. I did receive a scholarship from my state government for the program. I was fairly satisfied with my course and university. The faculty members are really helpful and ready to help.
Likes (Value for money): The faculty and resources are worth the money spent. The course is very intense and will not give to time to sit and relax. Apart from curriculum, it does teach you a lot of things. The one-year program helps in developing your soft skills. Also, the career team is also really helpful.
Dislikes (Internships): As it is just a 1-year master's program, you don’t get enough time to do an internship. Also, the department does not allow due to time constraints. Some programs do provide a chance to work on industrial projects instead of research projects but that varies from program to program.
