Come to Houston, be a Texan. Excellent alumni network.
Tips: I have become a better well-rounded person and could hone my leadership skills. I do not have any scholarships here but I had received offers with scholarships in other universities. I am working as an RA for the dean. I am very happy with the university, course and country.
Likes (Post study jobs): The college has great connections and an excellent alumni network. People usually go into investment banking and consulting jobs. Also, a lot of people go to work in teach industry. Most of the students stay back in Houston, though some of them migrate to the East Cost West cost.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Houston is a very spread out city and it is not developed as a city which favors public transportation. The city expects people to have cars since it is the world's oil and gas capital. And of course, this is Texas, the biggest state in the US. There is a train (metro) which runs close to the college which a lot of students use for commuting.

A growing and refreshing experience.
Tips: It took me a lot of time to adapt to the learning curve here. The way we solve and think is different from India. I am satisfied and happy with the university and the course, I feel I got the money spent was worth it because of the network I built and learning from my peers and overall experience.
Likes (Part time work): I mostly spend studying at the library and working part-time. As the campus is very diverse you get to participate in various events related to their countries, like Latin festivals. I was a part of the Growing club and graduation games club which helped me pass the time and stay fit. I got to meet different kinds of people through this.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are very approachable and would be willing to help and provide additional resources if interested. I have experienced various kinds of teaching methodologies, some involved in class activity, group problem solving and many more. I feel the faculty come from different parts of the world so it is pretty diverse like the student ratio.

Great Experience at Pitt, Friendly, Safe, Fun
Tips: The campus and environment are very friendly and safe. You can walk to anywhere on campus, and there are plenty of food and drink options. There are some small markets for groceries. Overall I had a great experience. I did receive some merit scholarships based on grades, and teachers are very approachable and knowledgeable.
Likes (Public transportation): I gave public transit a top rating because, as a Pitt student, you can basically get anywhere you need to go for free. Your Panther Card acts as an unlimited pass for the PRT buses, so you can easily hop on a bus right on Forbes or Fifth Avenue and head into downtown, Shadyside, or Squirrel Hill without spending a dime. If you need to head out of town or catch a flight, the 28X bus picks up right near campus and takes you straight to Pittsburgh International Airport. On top of the city buses, the university runs its own free shuttle system, which is an absolute lifesaver if you are trying to get from Lower Campus up to the top of Cardiac Hill to hit the Pete or the dorms up there. That being said, Oakland is still incredibly walkable and safe. If you aren't in a massive rush, walking is usually the best way to get around since everything on campus is super close together, but having those free transit options in your back pocket makes life incredibly easy.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There aren't too many Indian/Nepali restaurant options right on campus, but there are places within a 30-minute bus ride away. The price of food is not bad, but I also prefer to cook myself. I drove over to some grocery stores when I lived off campus, but there are only small market shops on campus, and those are expensive.

Great university, helpful faculty and diverse campus.
Tips: My programme is more research-focused than just classes. I transitioned from another US university so the cultural shift was minimal. The program provides a guaranteed monthly stipend and full tuition. The annual stipend is 40,000 dollars. Pittsburgh is a small city, so the diversity in people is lacking and there are fewer things to do. But there are plenty of opportunities to do outdoor activities. I have not had any issues with safety in Pittsburgh. Public transportation is available late into the night. People are respectful. Even though fewer people are out on the street at night, I have felt walking around. Shops and restaurants are usually close by 9 pm so there is not much to do at night. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the education.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The political environment is currently unstable under the 2025 Trump administration. This is making immigration options uncertain. Additionally, from having conversations with other international students who have undergone the immigration process, I've realized that the process is long and expensive, but turns out successful if you have done your research and have provided a good portfolio of your work. I would permanently immigrate given the option.

It is a good college with lots of opportunities to excel
Tips: Check for STEM courses, and apply early for scholarships. Check with seniors who are studying there regarding job sector post-studies. Connect with alumni. There are a lot of cultural socks for students as the culture is quite different from that in India. But you get used to it.

Best research oriented University
Tips: My scholarship is in the process so I might get it and students coming here can also try to get one. University is quite good, the management is really helpful and there are a lot of job opportunities through various on-campus job events. I'm satisfied with the University as it gives me a good study environment.
Likes (Public transportation): PITT students can travel anywhere with the ID card and get many offers included in restaurants. Public transportation is good. The campus is in the centre of the city close to downtown. A lot of tourist attractions nearby the campus itself. You can travel anywhere by bus around the city. Only fewer places need a cab facility.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I would not like to permanently settle in this state but I would want to move to a different one. A good salary with a decent car would be perfect to stay in any place in the United States as it's quite expensive. I couldn't adapt to the food easily it takes time. But overall a good place.
