Rutgers University is a great college where you will meet great people.
Tips: Students should be open minded about going abroad and the feeling of loneliness at first. It can be quite daunting and scary in the beginning when you are still finding your way and trying to make friends when you don't quite know anyone. There is definitely a cultural shift to be expected but Rutgers University is quite diverse so it was a plus. I did not get any scholarship from Rutgers University. I am not entirely satisfied with the University, as I felt the faculty was lacking and could have been better. Depending on the course, it can be a bit difficult to reach professors and communicate with them. The country itself is great but I know people who do not like it as well so it can vary in individuals. The US is very spread out, and sometimes places can be far to get to, such as grocery stores. Once you start to live off campus, it is hard to leave the University without a car.
Likes (Student Life): I would usually go to my classes in the day and then spend time with my friends in the evening. The dining halls are average; however, there are many outside dining options which we used to visit once in a while. I enjoyed the option of not always having to eat in the dining halls, as it is not always good. There are many events on campus, especially because there are many Indian clubs. They host Indian events quite often and you may also join them to contribute. I used to participate once a month, usually going to a club event for a specific Indian festival, such as Holi or Diwali. There are also other clubs depending on your hobbies and what you like such as arts and crafts, magazines, fashion, business and sports.
Dislikes (Safety): There is campus security and New Brunswick police are usually on the street as well. New Brunswick can be unsafe especially as you go deeper into the town which is why everyone should be careful. There can be homeless people on the street who may bother you at times.

MS in Computer Science - Batch of 2026
4.3
Vibrant, diverse and student friendly campus.
Tips: Students should know that Rutgers University New Brunswick does not have a grad curve concept in STEM courses and they are hard to score. Please prepare to handle things independently. My transition was smooth because they have apps for almost everything and a good volunteer team. Every campus although far apart, has good instructions and boards to follow. They follow a decade long tradition so things won't change much. Scholarships are rare and I recommend trying for other universities if you are tight on budget. I am very satisfied with my university and the MS in Computer Science course is decent if you are not doing research. The USA is amazing to study in.
Likes (Value for money): It has a good value for money because although STEM courses go up to 56,000$ per year, we get a lot more from the degree, like recognition and connections throughout the East and West Coast. Rutgers is one of the oldest universities with a top tier research program. Per credit amount varies every year and gets more expensive, but so do the facilities like the basic student pantry and recreation centers. The opportunities for on-campus jobs are very high. Almost everybody has a job here.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Although there are some Indian options, the food is not authentic indian. There are 15$ buffet options at the Livingston Campus which is economical. If you like non vegetarian, Busch campus has good options. I prefer cooking at home.

The campus offers countless clubs, cultural events, and networking opportunities.
Tips: Rutgers New Brunswick offers a vibrant research driven environment with opportunities to grow. The cultural shift was real but the diversity and support on campus made the transition much easier. I didn't receive a scholarship the learning experience and exposure are worth the investment. The campus offers countless clubs cultural events and networking opportunities that help students grow both personally and professionally. Access to top notch research labs and supportive faculty really enhances the academic experience.

Rutgers University provides a lot of opportunities of our interest.
Tips: There are people from all cultures here, and you can always find your people. It's easy to talk to new people and join clubs because they are always looking for diversity and new opinions. The only downside is that you have to hustle a lot to get jobs and be noticed, but it's all part of the culture here. You just have to make the best of it.

Students should prioritise job applications and mandatory internship certifications.
Tips: In Germany, most colleges are quite similar. Students should prioritise job applications and mandatory internship certifications, as they significantly increase internship opportunities. Furthermore, maintaining good interaction with lecturers is also important. I am qite satisfied with my experiences.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): You can have a better life with fewer job-related worries, secure jobs, and a stable life. You can also return to India anytime, unlike other countries. If you are fluent in the local language, nothing will stand in your way, even though the taxes might be a bit high. However, we can file for a tax return to get the money back.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I couldn't find any better Indian food, although there are Indian restaurants, the taste wasn't great. However, I can find better groceries, and there are 2-3 Indian stores where we can find almost everything. Apart from that, everything is good, and we can make many dishes.

Good college with a vibrant student life.
Tips: Before joining, research job opportunities near the city. Check the bus route to see if it's easy to travel to the nearby shops. Check whether the college provides internships and job opportunities. Talk to the seniors and research the subjects in your course that are relevant to your job skills in the future.

Campus is really big and friendly. Amenities are almost amazing.
Tips: Students have to focus more on the subjects they are choosing. Some course names and subjects are different. I also need to check about accommodation and part-time jobs. Also, this university is located in a small town, so take some time to think before making a decision.
Likes (Safety): I worked late sometimes. I personally feel that when you are coming from other countries, safety is the first concern for parents. Here in Germany, I found there’s strict law and order followed by the citizens. Also, the police patrol at night and day, protecting people from bad influences.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule is focused on practical applications. Most of the faculty are from the industry, and the university organizes seminars for practical experience. The faculty focuses on practical matters. The examination pattern is amazing. I almost got a full-time job while I was there in my master's program. Project courses are also included.
