MS in Healthcare Informatics - Batch of 2027

Comprehensive industry, limited opportunities.
Tips: My program allows me to pursue a specific but comprehensive industry, working in healthcare, insurance, and IT. The people here are friendly and helpful, and the professors are equally engaged. You'll need patience and an open mind. Try to be active and try to socialise with people. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my experiences here.

Strong and friendly community.
Tips: The courses are practical and relevant to the industry. While job preparation is well-conducted, there is room for improvement in research facilities. The people are friendly, and the small class sizes allow for ample interaction with professors. Scholarships are attainable with a timely application and a strong resume.

MS in Business Analytics - Batch of 2025

Good friendly staff, but in person teaching and global exposure is missing.
Tips: Quality learning is missing, and international students, won't feel like international students because most people are Indians. Recorded lectures were given for the online lecture and in one out of my 3 subject only one professor was good infact great but the other two were just completing the syllabus and recorded lectures were extremely boring.
Likes (Public transportation): They used to provide free transport to nearby stations. And transport from one campus to another which is at a distance of more than a mile. Fairfield is close the Bridgeport station which has straight train to NYC Grand Central Most Indian students lives in new jersey Next to nyc .
Dislikes (Value for money): I can learn better at YouTube for free, most lectures are online that too recorded. Only one lecture in a week wasn't enough to be called a full-time course. It maybe good for healthcare students but not good for business and finance students.

My college is the place to learn and to grow
Tips: I didn't face any transition when I came here as I can see more people from my country. I didn't receive any scholarship when I applied for this college. I am completely satisfied with the university as it has a very good faculty and also they especially take care of Indian students. In terms of public transportation, there are so many buses to travel around the campus and also college buses are provided.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I don't see any options to get into permanent immigration/settlement options as we are not allowed to stay there.

University is worth the money we pay
Tips: Course duration is 15 months only and there was no cpt until last semester. The college is fun with super cool infrastructure. Most of the part time work available in college has heavy competition so getting it is a bit tough unless you have good rapport with advisor of the course.
Likes (Student Life): College infrastructure and the curriculum is good. I really enjoy in the college. I feel its worth the money compared to the other universities nearby. I think the best thing about the college is the friendly nature and the vibe we get from the environment.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent settlement is directly dependent on student’s profile and their career and luck for H1. So I cannot say that there is permanent settlement on this university. Given that you are the best in academics would definitely fetch you best results and grades in the university.

Sacred heart university made me realize why I should come to college everyday.
Tips: Just email the professors before coming here and have a conversation about what you’re interested in. Make sure to take time to habituate to the culture slowly. Try not to stress yourself over everything all at once. Take time and relax. Make sure to come to USA at-least a couple of weeks before classes.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The professors are really experienced and they help us a lot in learning the subject, I really love the way they teach in class. Their educational practices are really worth practicing. They focus on making us learn things rather than teaching us only for grades, which is kind of awesome to me.
Dislikes (Safety): I want to be very honest and let people know that some places like Bridgeport are scary and really dangerous. I suggest people live in Fairfield, Trumbull and many other places around the university but not Bridgeport. I am not saying it is a dangerous place but every place in USA needs some safety guidance. Indian food restaurants like Barossa and tasty halal can make your day.

Tips: Syracuse has a very liberal mindset, and there are people from all over the country and the world, including Indians. Plenty of Indian food options and restaurants, as well as other cuisines. Tips: Syracuse is much larger than I'd imagine and has students from all across the world. Faculty is also diverse and adequately represented. You will have to learn to advocate for yourself in order to stand out. What I like here is that all our needs are met, be it within classrooms or outside. Before you reach campus, it's a good idea to figure out your housing situation by taking the help of the student communities and befriending your fellow classmates while in India itself.

There is a lot of potential to grow here.
Tips: Syracuse gives you a look into what you've always imagined university life to be like. There are tons of things to do and explore both on and off campus, and you can get the best of New York by studying here. Promising place to learn.
Tips: I have transitioned into a more confident, aware, and independent individual after a lot of adjustment. The city is welcoming and filled with passionate and creative people. I found it helpful to socialise by attending mixers and joining study groups and clubs that aligned with my interests or where I learned something new. Waterproof shoes have been a very useful hack because of the weather.
Likes (Indian Food): The city's diversity, especially the large Indian population, means there are plenty of restaurants and food joints offering various cuisines, not just North Indian. While some cooking essentials are a bit pricey, everything is readily available and close to campus.

Syracuse University is excellent for STEM and data science majors.
Tips: Syracuse is great for STEM-related and data science majors. My program can be intense as it is project-heavy, but it's very relevant to the industry. The engineering and business schools also interlink on several occasions, mainly for projects, which help in providing a diverse point of view. Carry spices from India, as you'll get the same stuff quite overpriced here.

Tips: The biggest drawback is the cold, chilly winters, which I'm not used to at all. The campus is very friendly, with lots of open spaces and is easily walkable, but a bike would make getting around much easier. A rewarding academic journey with a few challenges.
Tips: Students should know that Syracuse has a strong academic environment, but winters are harsh, so come prepared. Transitioning here involved adapting to the could, independent living, and a more open classroom culture. I received a merit-based scholarship during admission, which covered part of my tuition.
Likes (Part time work): On-campus jobs are fairly available, especially in dining, libraries, and tech support. Off-campus options are limited due to visa rules. Balancing part-time work with studies is manageable with good time management. Average pay ranges from $12 to $15 per hour, which helps with daily expenses.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are limited authentic Indian food options near campus. There are a few Indian restaurants, mostly mid-range in price, but the variety is limited. I prefer cooking for myself as it's more affordable and reminds me of home, where I have missed a lot of home food.

The part-time job situation is limited, and there's a scarcity of jobs in the area and throughout.
Tips: Some of the most popular and sought-after scholarships are sports scholarships, as Syracuse is very popular for its competitive sports and tournaments. Compared to other colleges in New York, this university is located in an ideal location. The campus also has some of the best infrastructure I have seen. The part-time job situation is limited, and there's a scarcity of jobs in the area and throughout. The university is good but slightly overrated.
Tips: Honesty, if you are keen on studying in the States, you should try for a better college, and you should only seriously consider going if you have some form of scholarship or backup, because it just won't be worth it otherwise. I have learnt a lot here, but I would not make the same decisions if I had another chance. But, it might suit some people, so you should keep an open mind, be a part of campus initiatives and focus on landing a job after graduation.

The campus is big on fraternities and sororities, and there are good eating options outside campus.
Tips: Studying here has provided me with an enriched experience of what it takes to be in a conventional American setting. The campus is big on fraternities and sororities, and there are better eating options outside of campus as compared to what they provide in the meal plans. The school offers so many student clubs and groups that it can be intimidating. There's something for everyone here, though, and everyone has been really welcoming, so you won't feel like you're missing out on anything if you don't join. It's a really diverse university, so you won't be feeling out of place for too long. There are many activities held on campus, try to participate in them and build some connections.

Tips: So far, the university has been great. I have transitioned well after coming here. America is a very diverse, liberal, and accepting country, with plenty to do both on and off campus. Tips: I have experienced a lot of changes in my life and myself after coming here. The university is good for pursuing your post-graduation in the sciences, such as mine. A supportive and opportunity-rich environment for growth.
Tips: Students should know that Syracuse University offers strong academic resources, great faculty and lots of opportunities, but you have to take initiative to benefit from them. Be prepared for cold winters and a different classroom style, which is more interactive, and participation often counts towards grades. The transition had its ups and downs. It's a growth experience. I received a 30% tuition scholarship, which was mentioned in my I-20. I didn't have to apply separately- it was based on my academic profile and work experience during the admission process. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. The course content is aligned with industry needs, and the professors are approachable. Syracuse is a peaceful place to focus on studies, and the U. S. in general offers a lot of exposure and opportunities in teaching.
Likes (Internships): There is a good amount of guidance available for finding and applying to internships at Syracuse University. The Career Services team and the Handshake platform are very helpful. Most of the internships I've come across are highly relevant to my field of study in Computer Science. There are opportunities in software development, data analysis.
Dislikes (Indian Food): While there are a few Indian restaurants in Syracuse, the variety and authenticity don't fully match what I'm used to back home in Mumbai. The flavours are often adjusted to suit American palates, and some regional dishes, especially street food or Maharashtra cuisine, are hard to find. I prefer cooking for myself most of the time. It's more economical and lets me make the kind of Indian food I miss from home.

Also, be on good terms with the faculty as they will ultimately help you out.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are hard to find in general and even harder when it comes to my course as there is a lot of specialisation and work involved and not a lot of companies have internships relevant to this line of study.
