BS in Physics - Batch of 2026

Eye opening experience here.
Tips: I would say I have transitioned in a positive manner after coming here as the campus has been friendly, accommodating and helpful especially towards international students. I have seen that administrative work can take longer than anticipated and course registration is an absolute pain. Career fairs are a good way to network but realistically, as an undergrad international student, my job prospects in this country are close to None.

Grateful for the experiences.
Tips: Texas State University is a very vibrant and happening campus. There's lots to explore, lots to grow and most importantly, plenty to learn both within and outside the classrooms. In some courses, the competitiveness is high and in some, you'll be fine with a laid-back approach as well. Learn to network and take help of the career services as much as possible. People are friendly and helpful.

Good time and place.
Tips: There was a slight culture shift when I got here but there are plenty of people and international students to find support and companionship from. Build a rapport with your professors and RA once you move in and start classes. The classes are not extremely over competitive and people but you are expected to be proactive and take advantage of the career services in place. Also, don't skip on extra credit.

Supportive and healthy environment.
Tips: My experience here has been quite decent and promising I would say although the process has not been easy. Administration here trends to take a very long time even for the simplest of tasks which can become frustrating especially if you're expecting timely update on internships and other such programs. The faculty is quite supportive and willing to help you out whenever needed which has been reassuring for me. There's a lot to explore here as well so make the most of that.

Traditional university life experience.
Tips: Lots of diversity and a very social campus as well which means you'll be exposed to a lot of people and communities. Campus often has a lot going on and in terms of part time jobs, there is limited scope and availability although I did I get a research position through a professor. There is a lot of walking around campus and class registration and organizing can be done in a better format.

In terms of post graduation work opportunities, things are becoming increasingly restrictive, but if you form good connections with your professors, you can avail benefits in the form of LORs and projects and even use them as references.

Been a learning process.
Tips: My transition was gradual, and all my inhibitions and worries disappeared quite quickly after being on campus for at least two to three weeks. The campus is full of life and quite outdoorsy as well, so if you have wished to pick up a sport, you have the perfect opportunity to do so here. Rent is more reasonable here compared to a lot of other cities, and in class grading is subject to various parameters, not simply your performance on exams. This also depends on your classes and professors and what their basis of grading is.

Tips: Texas State is a very social and fun-loving university. There's a lot to expect when you come here, and a lot of things that constantly happen in and around campus. Learn how to manage your time and finances, as no one else is gonna do it for you. Tips: Being more punctual, aligning my schedule properly. Nothing much of cultural shift. I did not get any scholarships. But there are few which you need to continuously monitor. I am completely satisfied with my university, course as it gives a lot of scope both academically and personally.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many Indian cuisine restaurants nearby and the pricing varies for different items and most probably each items cost could be between $1 to $20. There are other cuisines available too. I personally prefer cooking by myself, with friends and rarely at restaurants.

A practical, career-focused program with strong support and opportunities.
Tips: UNCC offers a flexible curriculum with strong technical courses. Be prepared for hands-on projects, presentations, and teamwork. The campus has good labs, software access, and student resources. Charlotte has many job opportunities in the tech and finance sectors. Start early on coding, resume building, and networking. Transition was challenging initially due to independence and self-learning. Cultural shift included being punctual, direct communication, and class participation. Group projects often include diverse peers, which helps in learning. You'll learn life skills like cooking, budgeting, and time management. Joining student groups helps ease homesickness and build community. I got a Graduate Assistantship after my first semester. It covered part of the tuition and gave a monthly stipend of ~$800. I applied early and had a strong resume and good GPA. Networking with professors also helped me secure the role. Some scholarships offer in-state tuition waivers, saving more costs. Overall, I'm satisfied with UNCC's faculty, course quality, and campus support. The MSIT programme is industry-relevant and offers useful electives. Studying in the US brings great exposure and job prospects. Career fairs and internships help prepare for full-time roles. Despite some challenges, the experience is rewarding and valuable.

A cozy cultural haven with room to grow.
Tips: Learning to live independent is something that Masters teaches you. It is experienced that cultural differences may rise while relating to a new area. However, given the current trend in Indian population growth, this place is our native. Honestly, a lot of events are celebrated with the same grandeur as in India. There aren't many scholarships offered by UNCC, and I hardly ever saw anyone get one. I think UNCC is an excellent place to study and live, with a well-run curriculum and decent living expenses. When compared to other states, Charlotte's weather is actually quite pleasant.
Likes (Public transportation): There are public bus stops on campus as well as two light rail station that provide convenient access to the city. Buses are available throughout the campus for travel between locations. Additionally, all public transit, including the light rail and public buses, is free for students with a UNCC ID.
Dislikes (Internships): There are really few opportunities to get internships because of the current state of the market. Although there are a lot of companies attending the career fair, as of right now, none of them are interested in sponsoring visas. Thus, it's really hard to find an internship these days.

Tips: Before joining UNC Charlotte, a student should know that it's a diverse, research-oriented university with strong programming in engineering and computer science. The campus is large and active, so time management and initiative are key to thriving here. Transitioning here involves adapting to a more independent learning style and a multicultural environment. Transitioning here was smooth academically, but I did experience a cultural shift in terms of communication style and learning approach, which gradually helped me grow more confident and open-minded.
