Academic pressure but good people.
Tips: Be prepared to spend the first couple of semesters just grinding and sacrificing your weekends as the academic pressure here is very real and difficult.Great professors and class fellow has made my journey a little calmer. The city offers a lot for the student population and there is a strong Indian community as well.

Good for career growth.
Tips: The leadership here is strong and the programme seems promising which is a big reason that many international students come here. The weather can get could and some of the places can shut down earlier than expected. Lots of background reading is the norm here and networking sessions and academic fair keep happening on a regular basis.

Tips: I was very excited to come here as I had heard good things and I feel it has lived up to my expectations. Berlin is a student friendly and very happening city but academics are taken equally seriously here. Work experience adds value both to your admission as well as for job hunting and knowing some German will make it easier to break communication barriers. Dedicated professors who are happy to help out whenever needed.

It is good and optimistic with a lot of room for exploration.
Tips: The lifestyle becomes self dependent and more active than that in India. There is more freedom and flexibility regarding classes, credit, examinations, and time management. I did not avail any scholarships but there are a few scholarships that might be applicable to Indian students. I am happy with my university, course and country.
Likes (Post study jobs): Companies all around Germany usually hire from TUs and covering study visas to job visas is a simple process. Job roles and salary packages usually depend on the previous work experience and specialisation of the individual. The course offers technical subjects as well as management subjects.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus part-time jobs are available but not too many. Part time jobs are harder to find since many require German language proficiency. Part-time is easily manageable with studies, depending upon how many credits you take each semester. And the payout is good enough to manage rent and expenses.

Easy going masters journey at TU Berlin.
Tips: Learn German as it goes a long way, and try to use the facilities provided by the university to integrate with the lifestyle. There are different workshops and a career fair organised by the university to get to know about companies, and a chance for networking. For landing a working student job, the estimated duration can be around 6-7 months based on your past work experience and German skills. Even though tuition fees are a bit high, this course is worth it and provides many opportunities.

The university is great, and the course is very practical.
Tips: Language skills are a significant advantage. Scholarship opportunities are available. The university is great, and the course is very practical. Plus, it's Germany, it's obviously a fantastic place to study. Housing can be a challenge, but finding a good place makes all the difference. Also, be prepared for the German winters.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is included in the fees, and with this ticket, I can travel around Germany. It's safe and always running. You can use public transport to go anywhere and save money on tickets. The ticket is easy to use, and it's the best public transportation in Europe.
Dislikes (Value for money): For the value of money, the network you build is the best asset. The people and industry experience are good, the companies are great, most of the faculty come from industry and have a good academic background, the labs are amazing, and the projects will teach you a lot.

The GPE course is not recommended. Consider other courses at the same or a different university.
Tips: Learn as much Deutsch as possible before coming here. Be wary of scams when initially searching for accommodation. There are a few scholarship opportunities such as FEMTEC for women. While I'm satisfied with the post study work options I'm not happy with the course content; it could be more detailed and less stressful especially for a Master's student.
Likes (Safety): Students generally stay in Studenten Wohnheims (STW) after 2 semesters where it is generally safe to stay. Few experiences include racism against Indians especially when you appear shabby sell bad and do not speak German. Learn at least the B1 level before coming here.
Dislikes (Value for money): As a former GPE student I cannot recommend applying here. The 15,000 euros tuition fee is too high considering the limited classes and poor lecture quality which does not meet industry standards. With the current EUR to INR exchange rate, it's approximately 15 Lacs for substandard content. I would recommend exploring other free courses instead.

Best place for engineering and technology.
Tips: Learning German, exploring scholarships through university portals and student associations is recommended. This is a great university for applicants looking to build their careers. Students can find working student and student assistant positions both within the university and at other companies.
Likes (Safety): No one disturbs others. There are many safety measures and facilities available. Everyone is helpful in any situation. There are security personnel in all areas. Each floor has a reception desk, where you can check in if any problems occur. I haven't had any negative experiences.
Dislikes (Part time work): For parttime work German language is required in most cases. You can find jobs in restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, warehouses, etc. These typically offer fair pay averaging a minimum of 12-13 euros. However tech jobs can pay over 15 euros.

Tips: Before joining this college, students should I know that it offers a disciplined academic environment where consistency and self initiative matter a lot. The curriculum is structured, but students are expected to manage their time well and stay regular with assignments and classes. Campus life is comfortable and student-oriented, but those who actively participate in activities, club and peer interactions tend to gain much more from the experience. Being open to learning beyond academics really helps.

Tips: There is a fee for some courses here. Not all German universities are free. Language is very important as it plays a pivotal role in integrating with the culture and surviving here. The course curriculum was very well-structured, and the instructors were very knowledgeable. I also liked the diversity of the student body. Students came from all over the world. It is very important to be knowledgeable about these facts before you come here.
Dislikes (Value for money): The staff at the university are very experienced and know exactly what they are doing. They are always reachable and respond quickly within hours. The curriculum is perfectly designed and the teachers come from different parts of the world.

Balancing academics and social life with best value for money.
Tips: The transition would always be there, coming from a different country. However, it was quite easy to adapt and make friends. The introduction week especially allowed me to get familiar with the people and culture. Scholarships are available but I could not get one. There is a work-life balance and a healthy living environment. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the university, the culture, my course and the country in general.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is very well connected to the city. Easy and affordable access to trams, metro, biking and buses. Multiple modes of transport are available throughout the city, connecting the University campus to the rest of the city. The biking culture is superior in the Netherlands, with connectivity in the entire country. This eliminates the reliance on expensive cabs and public transport at odd times.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are lots of international cuisine restaurants like Italian, Turkish, Moroccan, Indian, Yeminese, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese. The city has a wide variety of restaurants available. However, some of these restaurants can be expensive. The minimum cost of an average meal is 10–15 euros without a drink. Another option is supermarkets. However, there is less regional food available in supermarkets in this area, compared to places like the UK, the USA, and Canada. I prefer to cook and eat.

Hard work = growth in life. Be prepared to work here.
Tips: It can be a big cultural shock. Depends on one's priorities. But if your priority is to get into the culture, meet people from all over the world and get to know different perspectives, it requires one to get outside their comfort zone more often. But people are friendly and very inclusive in general. There are options for scholarships, but I did not have one. I am very satisfied with my life here, but given the current economic downfall in EU, it is really tough for a non-EU to make a living here. This could of course change in the future.
Likes (Safety): The country is pretty safe, even late at nights. The cops are helpful and people are generally safe. Of course there are a lot of criminal activities going on, but it is comparatively better than most of the other countries. The city is amazing, beautiful and clean. A lot of things are going on in the centre all the time and you see a lot of students walking on the street with different ethnicities. Nightlife can be really good, depending on one's taste, and also a lot of options to learn and grow. One just needs the will to do things and be able to get outside their comfort zone.
Dislikes (Part time work): Getting a part time job can be tough whether on campus or off campus as it requires the restaurant/cafes to get a special arrangement (money paid to the government) for employees who are non-EU. It can also be really tough to manage a part time job along with a 1 year master and maintain a social life. But it surely is possible. Average pay out is approximately 12 euros / hour.

Very rigorous academics but surrounded by some of the smartest students
Tips: I studied abroad in the Netherlands from the US and there is a shift in culture and academics. Unlike the US where you may have classes every day, in Erasmus there are only classes 2x or 3x a week, albeit they are longer. Classes are split into 3 hour lectures and 2 hour tutorials. The lectures are usually very huge with 200-300 students per lecture hall while the tutorials are led by the TA's and only have around 20 students per class. There is not a strong campus culture as those who come into classes are just coming for classes and in-campus housing is very limited. Housing is very important to find before you start your course since the country does have a housing crisis. Luckily, public transport is very good in the Netherlands, and in combination with the biking culture, you can live far and still commute to campus. There are exams every 2 months and your grade is only determined from your exams. Therefore, you need to be good at test taking to excel at this university.
Likes (Safety): The Netherlands is a very safe country and Rotterdam especially is very safe. The campus is away from the city centre so it is in a very residential area. Public transport and biking are very safe ways to commute in and out of campus. There is also campus security which patrols the campus.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are TA jobs which are the best part-time roles since you are directly under some of the most accredited professors in Europe, with EUR being one of the best universities for Economics in Europe. There are also other on-campus opportunities such as working in the cafeteria or cafes.

BSc in Econometrics and Economics - Batch of 2024

Not an easy path but a worthy one.
Tips: Erasmus is not an easy university and the double bachelor's in econometrics and economics is extremely intense but rewarding. Dutch food is horrendous as is the weather. However, if you can cook on your own, you can get most spices here and cook food yourself. Eating Indian food out is also expensive (in my opinion), but I may be biased.
The university is overall good, with good lecturers and many research opportunities.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): We are allowed a full year after graduation to stay in the country to find a job. Personally, I have a non-Indian passport and wouldn't give it up for the Dutch one. However, living here for the long term is an easy possibility. Especially if you have a technical degree. However, there is a lot of anti-immigration politicians becoming popular here, so keep this in mind. Additionally, housing is expensive and difficult to find.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Prices are quite high. Fast food will run you around 10-15 euros for full meal and 20+ for a nicer restaurant. Indian food outside is even more expensive so tread lightly. To save money I usually cook. This is of course up to you and your budget. There are some people who can get by with less, especially if they are vegetarians, but nonvegetarians will have to be prepared to spend more. That is the unfortunate reality of the current situation in the Netherlands after last year's high inflation.
