Good faculty and course.
Tips: Insurance is crucial. The weather, especially the rain in winter, can be quite challenging as cycling is often the main mode of transport. You can apply for scholarships on the official TUD website. Also, be prepared for a significant cultural adjustment, as making friends here can be a bit difficult.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty were very nice and helpful. The mix of faculty teaching, practical sessions, and Q&A made the courses engaging and easy to understand. Seniors also helped a lot as teaching assistants, and they held doubt sessions before exams.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The current job market is challenging. Regarding permanent settlement, learning Dutch and residing here for six years post-graduation are essential factors, and these considerations contribute to my three-star rating.

The course material and professors are top-notch, offering a high degree of flexibility.
Tips: The curriculum is intense, and grading methods are quite different from India. If you graduate before the end of May, you can save on tuition fees for that quarter. It is important to be efficient and manage your time wisely so you can finish working in 8 hours, allowing you to also engage in other activities. In winter, it is important to spend time with friends or travel so that you don't get the blues.
Likes (Value for money): The course material and professors are top-notch, offering a high degree of flexibility to choose from various profiles. This flexibility is unique, and in my research, I haven't found a better curriculum for renewable energy. Furthermore, the thesis helps develop niche expertise, preparing students for the market.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It's a relatively small town, hence options are limited. It is also not economical to eat out as a student. But there are decent options in nearby bigger cities. There are some Turkish/Surinamese places where you can find good food but the best option is to cook for yourself.

Efficient, productive and independence.
Tips: The education system in the Netherlands and the way people work in general will make you more efficient in life. This could be anything from planning something small to something impactful, and I think this is because of the independence that is given to students to study what they want with the general expectation that the work being produced will be meaningful and impactful and isn't being done just to pass a course. This culture of teaching is inculcated right from primary school in the Netherlands, and it is amazing to see how productive these students turn out to be. I believe that after studying at Delft, you will likely observe this behaviour and also find yourself to be productive, not waiting to be told what to do but taking initiative and realising what needs to be done. A practical aspect that also needs to be mentioned is that if you don't speak Dutch, then be aware that a lot of entry-level opportunities will not be for you. If you are an experienced IT professional, then the job market is better for you, but for beginners, my suggestion would be to practice competitive coding since most companies use that to filter candidates.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation in Delft is fairly good. Most students and people prefer using bikes but you can also take the bus, which is available frequently. There is currently a tram line under construction within the campus, so connectivity should improve even more once it’s complete in a year or so.
Dislikes (Student Life): Most days in university will be spent on assignments and reading papers and less on other activities. Do keep in mind that Delft is a STEM university, so naturally, the culture of students is more geared towards research and less on social activities, but that doesn't mean there are none. There are various student organisations and social outreach program organisations. Since the education system follows a quarter system instead of a semester, it means the study and workload can be quite high. A quarter generally lasts 8-10 weeks, and the study load that is expected to be taken is 15EC (3 courses of 5EC each). If you are familiar with the course, then you will have an easier time otherwise, it could be a real challenge. The grading system is not lenient and quite stringent; getting a 9 is considered extremely rare.

Great people, professors, teaching and student life, with some bouts of poor weather.
Tips: There are many students of Indian origin at TU Delft, so there is a lot of Indian culture. It is a great place to be. Everyone is very friendly and they make you feel at home with mentors and different guides and information meetings. If you apply early, you can try for scholarships that are department-specific, but later there are only a few scholarships available, so do not count on getting one. There are only a few on-campus jobs available for a large group of students. For those who do get it, the pay is good. Off-campus, there are career days that they organize to help you match with different companies. Part-time is definitely manageable with the academics. Part-time work pays about 15-20 per hour. Overall, I am satisfied with my experiences.
Likes (Student Life): The best part about studying here is the student life. There are tons of events and sports facilities, lots of clubs, bars, and restaurants, and activities that are one-time only. There's probably a cultural event for anything you can think of. This place is a real melting pot, which means there's a club, bar, or restaurant for everything you're into. Not only that, but you'll find people from all over the world here, so you can easily meet new friends. There are always plenty of events, and everyone has a good time at them. Plus, when you first start your studies here, you'll be randomly paired with a group of other students from various countries. These people can easily become your closest friends during the semester.

A good combination of international exposure and adulting challenges.
Tips: Knowing cycling helps a lot as the roads are mostly flat with dedicated cycle lanes and daily commute for classes, grocery shopping becomes really helpful, and one would save a lot on the public transportation charges. It takes time to adjust to the quarter system of exams, which keeps you busy throughout the year. Winters can get a bit harsh and the country also has an unpredictable pattern of rain, which is quite tough to handle, but proper clothing can help. With regards to the safety of women, it is completely safe on and off campus. There are some occasional incidents of cycle thefts depending on whether they are locked properly or kept in an isolated place, but otherwise the Dutch streets are generally well-lit, with public transportation running till quite late hours. Also, since Delft mostly has students and everyone owns a bike, it is pretty convenient and safe on the street. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Part time work): The first year is generally quite occupied with classes, quarterly exams, and assignments, which makes it tough to take up part-time jobs and balance with the curriculum. The second year focuses mainly on internships, which are generally paid and some teaching assistant jobs, which may help with covering living expenses partly, but with the university funding being cut in the Netherlands, the opportunities are decreasing a bit.

Familiarize yourself with local culture, tax regulations and essential protocols. Upon arrival in the Netherlands, consider obtaining a second-hand bike through the Facebook Marketplace. Explore informative YouTube video featuring the experiences of Indian students in Delft. Swiftly pay your tuition feels to secure an early slots for housing, especially if you've opted for Delfts accommodation. Establish connections on LinkedIn, as the majority of students here are exceptionally friendly. I've found that the education quality surpasses that of India; however, it poses a slightly greater challenge. Consistency is key, and time management skills are imperative. I am thoroughly content with my course; the professors are not only approachable but also friendly. Assignments demand substantial hours, so forming small groups for collaborative discussions is advisable. Be cautious not to submit identical work, as plagiarism is deemed a serious offence.
Likes (Value for money): The Dutch education system at TUD differs somewhat from the Indian education system at VIT. The Indian system places a primary emphasis on applied engineering, involving numerical and standard equations, whereas the aerospace programme at TUD places a greater focus on fundamental principles. I recommend thoroughly reviewing the subjects offered and the syllabus to gain a comprehensive understanding. If you are seeking a more in-depth mathematically and physically oriented education, Delft's curriculum is well-suited to those preferences.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The Netherlands boasts an extensive and efficient public transportation network, encompassing trams, trains and buses. While living costs may be relatively higher for students arriving from India, the convenience of frequent train and tram services is noteworthy. To navigate the transportation system effectively, I recommend downloading apps like 9292 and NS to stay informed about train timings and schedules. This is particularly crucial as maintenance work is periodically conducted, necessitating a bit of advance planning.

Learning the Dutch language will enhance your experience.
Tips: You should be prepared for the rigour of a quarter-based system, and that of a research-oriented Master. The opportunities while pursuing a degree are extremely multi-faceted and rewarding if you are passionate and dedicated. The Dutch people in the city are very welcoming and even though you can perfectly accommodate them without ever learning any Dutch but it would be recommended to learn it in order to better integrate with the Dutch culture.
Likes (Public transportation): Everything in Delft is extremely well connected and you can use public transport for end-to-end connectivity. You generally rent or buy a (second-hand) bike to traverse around the small 6km cover of Delft, however, it is possible to walk and cover the entire city's diameter (or reach the campus from any place in Delft) within 30 minutes. Even if you live outside Delft due to the paucity of houses within, you can easily traverse via the train system (as many students do).
Dislikes (Indian Food): A lot of Indian restaurants and Indian grocery stores are available such that you always have options. Even though the food options for eating out or delivery are on the steeper side (due to food in Netherlands in general being expensive), there are options to buy groceries (even good quality Indian groceries) to cook at home for cheap.

Tips: I noticed a cultural difference, but the scholarship was paid well. The courses were also good. The country’s environment was vibrant, and the staff was friendly. The people were also friendly, and scholarships were paid promptly. Overall, it was a good experience.
Likes (Indian Food): One thing I enjoyed the most was how the teachers are very friendly with pupils, always willing to help them in difficult times. Apart from the curriculum, they also give focus on extracurricular activities, which are very beneficial for the students’ growth.

Tips: The Dutch education system will be quite new for Indian students, as it is more research-oriented and highly self-driven, with no external pressure to push you forward. A few scholarships are listed on the university website, and you may receive a residential allowance from the government depending on your accommodation. Overall, TU Delft is highly recommended for its quality of education and strong post-graduation prospects and I am highly satisfied with my experiences.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Everything and everyone is easily accessible, you just need the interest to immerse yourself in your chosen topic. The faculty is highly supportive and provides all the necessary guidance. The course follows a quarterly system, which may feel fast paced for the Indian students at first, but you will adapt within a semester. The university is highly international, with faculty members from diverse backgrounds.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are not supported by the course as they require attendance on campus every working week. However, you can work as a working student up to 16 hours per week which is often encouraged by the university. All companies are quite accessible as a student of TUD with a focus on relevant master studies.

The faculty is extremely well-qualified and leading in their respective fields.
Tips: There is definitely a lot of exposure to different cultures, and a lot of freedom given to students. Students at the University of Toronto Mississauga are in charge of their own studies, which I think was probably the biggest cultural change. Unlike in school, you are responsible for your own progress, and nobody will follow up with you. You take charge of your education and assignments. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the experience. While the workload can be tough, the assignments help us gain a better understanding of the topic and subject. The University of Toronto has definitely helped shape my personality and made me more independent.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is extremely well-qualified and leading in their respective fields. Professors are increasingly helpful and kind, especially during office hours, and will patiently explain concepts until fully understood. Some professors go out of their way to accommodate students. Teaching assistants are also extremely helpful. The teaching methodology is mainly research-centric, with many assignments involving research and project work, which aids in better understanding. The campus's diversity is reflected in the teaching faculty, with professors of various nationalities.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The campus is well-connected to the rest of the city, being a major bus stop in Mississauga with nearly all buses passing through. While bus connectivity is excellent, occasional delays do occur, though rarely. I've rated it four stars because, although there's good bus service, the train connectivity throughout the city isn't as strong, and you'll primarily rely on buses.

Tips: The cultural shift here is real and expected, but not as bad as one would anticipate. There are tons of job opportunities in the Toronto STEM job market, so none of your hard work will go to waste, and the good thing is that there’s a huge market for STEM in Toronto, so no skill of yours will ever be wasted. Tips: Adapting to campus life can be challenging, especially for students from different cultural backgrounds. The academic rigour, social expectations, and even the food can feel foreign and overwhelming. One of the biggest hurdles is often communication. Nuances in language, humor, and social cues can easily lead to misunderstandings and feelings of isolation. Students might hesitate to participate in class discussions, fearing they won't be understood or judged. Similarly, navigating social events and making friends can be difficult when cultural norms differ significantly. Besides that, the campus is well connected to the rest of the city through multiple modes of transportation. Ticket prices are affordable and the routes are well-marked, ensuring a straightforward and convenient travel experience. You won't need to worry about public transport.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Many companies do not provide sponsorship for work visas, which makes it challenging for international students to find employment. The job market is saturated in 2024–2025, which makes it difficult to find opportunities. Networking is the key to landing roles.

The university is great although highly competitive and academic.
Tips: It is a world-class institution, but it is highly competitive. You will have to study a lot to survive. A transition from high school is natural. I am here on a 50% scholarship. You can apply for it. Overall, I am very satisfied with the University of Toronto.
Likes (Safety): I rated the University of Toronto high on safety because I felt safe on campus and in the surrounding areas. I never saw any shootings, and campus police are available at all hours. The university also provides multiple emergency contacts for students. The only potential risk I saw was from homeless people at night, but even then I felt safe.
Dislikes (Part time work): I rated the University of Toronto low on part-time work because campus and off-campus jobs are easily available. However, the university is highly competitive, and most students don't have time for part-time work. Some jobs are even available remotely, such as being a PA or TA, which can pay up to 500 CAD per week or 2000-2400 CAD per month.

Make connections with faculty members because they will nominate you for scholarships and awards. Overall, since this is a smaller campus, the exposure is great, and the opportunities are tremendous. Build connections and network well. This is the only campus that offers co-ops, so join a co-op programme and get experience while you are studying.
Likes (Student Life): Since I'm on the smaller campus, you get to know everyone. I participated in extracurricular and joined multiple clubs, gaining experience and friendships. It is easy to start with the mentorship programs and then work with a senior mentor to guide you through academic, social and extracurricular on campus.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): You don't need visa sponsorship from your job because you qualify for an open work permit. With psychology, it was easier to get into mental health than psychology but since that was not my area of interest, I added a minor - Statistics and Food Studies. Statistics helped me realize that I want to be a data analyst. It was easier to find jobs in this field.

Great, academically oriented university to study from but expensive.
Tips: In the beginning, you would feel a big cultural shock as the place and its education are quite different from that in India. But, you would find many people from India and all around the world who are willing to talk, know about you and share their experiences. However, once the years progress you will feel a sense of competition which is a good thing, as everyone becomes more aware and concerned about their future. Also, the university provides us opportunities to experience and learn about several different fields and sub-fields of study in the giant universe of ECE, where each sub-field could have a different career path. The university also has resources like ECC and others to help you prepare for the jobs, but securing a job is quite difficult in my field of study, especially at this economic phase. Regarding the scholarships, I didn't receive any and many of my international friends didn't either. Most scholarships require you to be a Canadian citizen or PR but there are exceptions and few international students do get the scholarships. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my university, course and country.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I think the faculty is quite easy to access and approach and is highly knowledgeable in their concepts and field of study. There is more focus on hands-on learning through practicals than most other colleges though the weightage of it towards the overall course grade is usually few, they prefer to put more weightage towards written exams. In terms of diversity, you would find teaching faculty coming from all around the globe, China, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Switzerland, and so many others.
Dislikes (Part time work): I think it is easy to find a part-time job in this area but doing a part-time job while studying is quite difficult for an undergrad ECE student at UofT. Most technical courses are workload-heavy with several lengthy assignments which spare little to no free time. Maybe for Masters, the picture would be different.

Good campus, great internship support from the college and a great city.
Tips: Canada is very welcoming. I did not experience a cultural shift because I have lived abroad before. I did apply for a scholarship but unfortunately could not get the scholarship but I know many people who got one. The course is good for quickly getting Canadian working experience. It is however not the best course if you want a classroom experience because you only take 4-5 classes a week.

Tips: UofT provides you with tremendous opportunity to boost your career. Alumni are friendly. You can participate in a plethora of activities with students from other departments. There are not many scholarships available at Master's level but a lot for Ph.D.
Likes (Student Life): UofT campus is always buzzing with activities and events. It is easy to find a peer group and have some fun while learning new skills. During orientation you will get an opportunity to enroll in a vast array of clubs. There is always free food at some or the other event on the campus where you can make friends.
Dislikes (Part time work): All upcoming students get an option to apply for Teaching Assistantship roles. Moreover, students can connect with faculty members for Research Assistantship roles. Alumni is very friendly, you can reach out to them for part time roles in the industry.

Courses are of high quality. Sometimes, it's very stressful for students from tier 2 or tier 3 Indian universities. But less job opportunities as compared to US. PR immigration is easy here.

Diverse campus with lots to learn.
Tips: One good thing about UOFT is that it is very diverse and people always accept and respect others. You don't have to change yourself to fit in. I am a permanent resident. I didn't apply for scholarships.
Work is stressful. But overall social life is fun.
Likes (Indian Food): Lots of Indian food is available. Restaurants are very good. Pricing depends on the ambience. I have a meal plan with the university, so I don't cook. I live in downtown, so you get everything here. Indian restaurants have similar food to India, and there is one located in every locality.
Dislikes (Safety): This is the main campus located in downtown, Toronto. The other two are subsidiaries. - downtown is often surrounded by homeless people, often drug addicts. It gets sketchy during the night. My recommendation is to always travel in groups, especially during the night.

Academic fountain of deep learning in the world
Tips: The university is known for its academic standards therefore the quality of courses is good and so are the marking criteria of the professors who teach the courses. The expectation from Masters students is to work on par with Ph.D. scholars and perform better since this degree usually prepares you for pursuing a Ph.D. degree in future.
Likes (Indian Food): Toronto is a vibrant city with cosmopolitan culture and food of every kind is available in the city and also this university. I as an Indian and a hard-core vegetarian. I was able to enjoy the street food and also there are many Indian veg cuisine restaurants present as well. I never found it difficult to find food.
Dislikes (Student Life): Everyone is engaged in their own activities due to course loads with less activities which students can indulge in together.

It is a good university.
Tips: It's a good university but if you are more research-oriented then go for US universities. The weather is not great in Canada. If you are person who loves sunlight or going out then say goodbye to both of them. The campus is scattered and in the middle of the city.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Good chance of getting a PR if you have enough points. You also get a Post Graduation Work Permit once you graduate. It is an open work permit and the duration depends on the length of the programme.
Dislikes (Value for money): It's okay but not a great programme. They charge too much for the courses they are offering. It is good that there is an internship at the end of the programme otherwise it would have taken a lot of time to repay the loan.

Tips: Whatever you do, try to excel in that. Also focus on your fundamentals Science classes like Math and Physics as it helps in more ways than one, even though I'm in CS. People here come from various backgrounds and the admissions committee views applications holistically. They value the amount of effort you've put into whatever your domain is and can find ways of transferring your skillset to match you with what you could potentially be great at.

My journey at the prominent University of Toronto.
Tips: Uoft is the most prestigious university in Canada. Canadians really give you the awe moment when they know you're studying at this university. Some of the courses are of top-notch particularly Data Science courses. Others are okay. You would know how to survive in the industry. Top companies came to the universities to offer internships and projects. That's pretty much everything. The only con is that the fees is much higher than any other university in Canada. I do not feel any cultural shift personally. But one must be ready to accept ideologies. So, it depends on the person. In my course, there isn't any but MASc. and Ph.D. offered few scholarships to students. Overall, I am satisfied with my university and course.
