MS in Data Science - Batch of 2025

Life in TUHH is stressful but enjoyable to get better at your craft.
Tips: It's a technical university so be ready to study in depth where you will be able to study topics deeply which will help you understand things from the core. There are options to get a scholarship from university as well as from other sources. Also there are loan programs for semester fees which is also nice.

Lots of opportunities to explore.
Tips: Study well from the beginning as the course requires proper time for understanding concepts, and if you score good grades, several scholarship opportunities are unlocked. Learn to adapt to the surrounding environment and blend in with the German culture.
Likes (Value for money): As the university is a public university there is no tuition fee for the studies. Only expenses that are there are for the expenditures like house rent and health insurance and food cost. This can be managed by part time jobs at university and outside university by doing odd jobs.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Depending on the field of study, several chemical industries are present in Germany and Germany is considered the technological hub for process engineering. For designing jobs and production, you need German language skills to work in a German company.

Good college and faculty.
Tips: Students should know that academics are demanding and self-driven and basic German will be helpful for day to day life. The transition was smooth, though I noticed a culture shift. Here, people are punctual, organized and value personal space.
Likes (Safety): Hamburg feels safe even at night. Public transport is reliable, areas are pretty good, and people are respectful. City has emergency call points, response police, secure student housing and university helplines with proper health care facilities.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Germany offers clear pathways for international graduates to stay and work after their studies but the process of obtaining permanent residence is quite lengthy and requires several conditions. My chances are moderate for permanent settlement in this country.

Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is welcoming.
Tips: People from Bengaluru would get easily adjusted as the weather is just like Bengaluru's weather. Mood but not harsh. So my transition was easy. I haven't received a scholarship but there is Deutschlandstipendien available after each term. However, I do not know much about this. The professors don't really teach much here and it's all self learning. From my point of view I feel that's how education runs here. However the professors are really helpful if you approach them with a problem individually. Most classes you would not find the professors teaching but the tutors of that subject. So my experience with tutors are 50-50. Some teach very well. Others are clueless just as others. Regarding my course, apart from the core subjects, the specializations are really interesting and are mostly hands on. So if you're interested in Mechatronics, Product Development, Material sciences this course would be perfect for you. Racism against Indians exists everywhere, and nowadays it has increased a lot and you can visibly see people acting ignorant. But that's just some ignorant foreigners living in Germany. I find Germans very friendly and helpful here. And the country is perfect.
Likes (Public transportation): Compared to all the other places I've visited around Germany, Hamburg has really good transportation. If you miss out the last train you need not worry as there are night buses available to every corner of the city. For students, if you live near the university say places like Harburg, Heimfeld and Eiu00dfendorf, you would be a bus away from the university and can reach in 10-15 minutes. There are bus stop in front of the university itself. With your semester fees, Deutschland ticket is included, which is unlimited tickets for public and regional transportation. So you can easily travel around Germany for that. If not a student, one way city train tickets would cost you around 3 euros and as far as I am aware, it's cheaper if you buy online. Deutschland tickets it's a monthly subscription, and you will have to pay around 60 euros every month from next year ( only if you're not a student). If you don't want to pay much, there's still an unlimited ticket for within the city which is much lesser than Deutschland ticket. However, it will only work for Hamburg.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): As far as I am aware, you do not need sponsorship for a work visa. It's affordable. As long as you can have a job contract in hand, you can obtain a work visa. M.Sc. focuses on material Science and business administration. You can either get into research or roles as a project manager, performance management team, supply chain and logistics. Hamburg, being a port city itself, has a lot of options for supply chain, logistics, maritime. If you've come here with no experience, it's much easier to get into part time jobs, but not full time as you would need more experience and junior roles are not much. But with experience, part time is slightly difficult as you'll be over qualified. Then again it's not impossible, bigger companies would accept applications.

Best of both worlds, academics and fun.
Tips: This is an academically oriented university, a lot of focus is on research. Do not take studies lightly. There are many scholarships offered on the campus apart from DAAD. The stipend you receive varies based on the scholarship. The range is between 300-500 euros for 6 to 12 months. I'm very satisfied with the course and my University. Very happy with my German academic experience.
Likes (Part time work): The campus is big enough giving you ample place to organize meetings for study or group meetings. The A building is accessible until late midnight and also through the night for common study room. Many events are organized in TU. Sommerfest is something everyone looks forward to every year. There are always some conference or institution events that are ongoing, where you can grab currywurst or a beer. We have the ISA, the Indian Students Association, that looks after the well being of Indian students on campus, right from their admission through graduation.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The professors are really nice and approachable. But you have to take appointments in due time. Many courses offer PBL problem based learning which allows you to apply what you have learnt in class to real life problems. Majority of professors are German with a few professors of other nationalities.

Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is a decent university.
Tips: The university campus is well connected and very convenient. There is a good availability of research and project opportunities as well as some merit based scholarships. Part time jobs are also available in the area to support financially. I am greatly satisfied with my course.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Excellent faculty and class options including a good range of specialization options. Opportunities to work under professors on projects and gain lab experience. Classes include lectures as well as project or lab components for hand-on experience. Faculties are very supportive and provides lots of opportunities for students.
Dislikes (Indian Food): A range of restaurants are available close to the university as well as in the main city. A good combination of Indian food as well as international food is available. Some restaurants and shops provide student offers on particular dates. I generally used to cook food at home most of the time, as it is cheaper and much healthier. The university campus also includes a canteen with subsidized prize for the students.

A place to grow, learn, and thrive.
Tips: The University is located in Harburg, well connected by Bus/Sbahn. You can follow the AStA page and TUHH page on Instagram to get updates on weekly events. There are a lot of freshers orientation and support events on campus. There is an accommodation office which can help you with accommodation. Make sure you also apply to the studentenwerk accommodation application.
Likes (Public transportation): Everything is covered in your student ID. Bus, tram, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, ferry. With the student ID, you can travel without worrying about buying a ticket! Just flash that ID and you're good to go. Seriously, makes life so much easier, especially when you're running late for class. Plus, think of all the money you save. A young TU that is searching its path towards excellence.
Tips: There is a dedicated Indian Students Association that is looking forward to help Indian students arriving to Germany. In comparison to Indian lectures, things are much different here and you should put it more effort to get things done. Do not expect any spoonfeeding as you will have to learn to get most of the things done by yourself.
Likes (Public transportation): The connectivity to different parts of the city is truly amazing couldn't have asked for better connectivity. There are a variety of them, buses usually cover most of the street while the S-bahns take from one end to the other end of the city and U bahn are within city limits thereby offering multiple connectivity. Trains are operation between 4:00 am to 1:00 am the next day while buses operate 24*7 in major cities.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): A lot of the studies happens just by reading the slides, only few faculty are really dedicated towards our course. Things could have been better, and following our feedback, starting 2025 the course has gotten better. We faced issues with the course not being offered in our case, but the new curriculum has taken care of this issue.

International and technically oriented university.
Tips: There was a cultural shift from being more detail oriented in learning a concept, German culture and food. I did not avail any scholarships but we do have scholarships for good performers from the university and can also apply for DAAD scholarships. We get the flexibility to plan our day and also choose courses we like.
Likes (Public transportation): The transport ticket is included in the university fee therefore no hassel in buying tickets and the city is well connected by buses and trains so it is easier to travel. We also have Deutschland ticket for regional trains. It gives us the opportunity to explore places around.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The post study jobs are much easier for students with German language skills. Job roles include Automation Engineer, Software Engineer, Security Analyst. Salary packages generally offered around 45,000 to 50,000 euros for a fresh graduate. There are pretty large companies in Hamburg like Airbus, Nordex, Siemens, Adobe.

A great learning experience with strong academic support.
Tips: I am a working student now. I struggled in the initial days but there is always a chance if you are aware and consistent in whatever you are doing, just analyse the surroundings and react according, and you will have what you should have at the end of the day.
Likes (Public transportation): Everything is super convenient and easy to get. In return, you can have this app HVV in Hamburg, which would guide you in many ways, and the delays are also updated there on the app in no time, so that you won't miss any important connection and be there on time you should be.
Dislikes (Internships): Many available chances and the engagement is super flexible with the big companies. You have to be confident enough to go talk to any person and make a good impression and the effect will help you to gain the most success in a very short amount of time.

TUHH offers a good number of courses and specializations.
Tips: The courses offer a variety of specialisations. Review them all and choose the best fit for you. The university has a significant Indian population, making cultural adjustment relatively easy. The university presents great opportunities for those willing to push their boundaries.
Likes (Public transportation): The university is conveniently located near S-Bahn and bus stops with excellent connections. The semester fee includes a DB ticket, allowing travel on public transport throughout Germany. Bus stops are directly in front of the university building.
Dislikes (Internships): Most students studying in Germany prefer working student roles over internships. Internships are something you need to search for yourself. Most of the courses do not have a compulsory internship, so it is not something the students are looking for actively.

Very limited opportunities.
Tips: The course is very good. While the subjects are limited, your curiosity isn't, and you can explore other departments. However, the biggest challenge is the German language; German B2 is essential for jobs in the country, especially for mechanical engineers. Start learning A2 before you come or begin right away. Prioritise language learning over studies initially.
Likes (Public transportation): The university has two bus stops, one at the front and one at the back. The bus frequency is an average of 5-10 minutes for both stops. It's a 10-minute walk to the train station, which also has a 10-minute frequency. The public transportation is well-connected.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is no hiring like in India no campus placements. You have to search for jobs yourself and it can be a difficult task. The university has a friendly and helpful career centre, I haven't observed them securing jobs for students through their connections.

A good, friendly and well-respected college.
Tips: There are cultural shifts and changes in work life and academics. However, people can adapt to these changes. For my course, it was necessary to have credits in specific fields, along with a language test and other basic requirements. Although life can be challenging, especially when abroad, it also teaches you a lot. I am moderately satisfied with my current situation.
Likes (Student Life): There are numerous facilities and benefits available to students across the country. There are student discounts in restaurants, clubs, and museums. My campus offers both academic and extracurricular events, which help students maintain a balanced life. There are clubs like the Career Centre, international clubs, and language clubs, which help students adapt to the current environment and understand future prospects.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): In Germany, there aren't job placement services so you have to find a job yourself which can take some time. This also depends on the job market and available opportunities in your field but I would be happy to immigrate if given the chance.

Academically one of the best.
Tips: The course was manageable and I highly recommend it for studies. However I cannot offer solid suggestions regarding securing a job. Proficiency in German is highly recommended.
Likes (Value for money): It's a public university, so there's no tuition fee. However, there's a semester contribution of 350 to 400 euros. If you secure a place at a public university, there will be no tuition fee. Scholarships are available both within and outside the university apply as soon as possible, as higher grades around 1.0-1.5 are required.
Dislikes (Internships): It's mostly self guided. You need to do your own homework find companies, jobs and apply. German language proficiency minimum B1 level and some relevant work experience would be advantageous; otherwise, rejections are likely, especially for freshers.

Engaging campus life with flexibility and demanding academics.
Tips: Courses like Computer Science and Data Science are technical, requiring a strong mathematical foundation compared to traditional CS programs. Ensure careful course planning, as there's no limit to the number of subjects you can take in any semester.
Likes (Student Life): The university hosts a lot of events, sports to keep students engaged such that students don't feel the pressure of studies. There are volunteering internship programs that help a lot in finding technical jobs. As Hamburg is one of the biggest job markets in Germany, it posts a lot of technical and non-technical jobs for students.

Excellent for research and does not limit you from exploring other fields.
Tips: It's excellent for those who enjoy the research and academic aspects of any field. The main focus is research, so don't anticipate learning much about the practical side of a subject. While there are problem-based labs, you will also need to undertake projects.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The city is excellent the people are welcoming, and career opportunities are abundant for those willing to work hard. It's a paradise for hard workers whether in blue-collar or white collar jobs. There are diverse companies located here, and people are less racist and more welcoming.
Dislikes (Internships): My course and many others don't have compulsory internships; students volunteer for them and must find their own opportunities. Master in Operational Excellence (M.B.A. and Eng.) - Batch of 2026
Offered by Hof University of Applied Sciences
4.5
Practical and industry-oriented.
Tips: This is a very good course. The internship opportunities are excellent and significantly enhance your CV for future full-time positions. The only consideration is the semester fee of 3500 euros. Apart from that, it's fantastic. Before coming to Germany, it's crucial to learn German to at least a B1 level, and having at least two years of experience in India will make life much easier.
Likes (Indian Food): There are various options available both on and off campus. The canteen occasionally offers Indian food, and they also have vegan options. However since you've come so far I encourage you to embrace the local cuisine it's quite good as well.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are some student assistant jobs, require you to contact different professors. There are off campus jobs but those usually require good German skills. There are also some helping jobs in production facilities that don't require much German.

Helpful teachers, friendly students, and a welcoming culture.
Tips: First of all, students should know basic German, at least A1-A2 level, to interact easily with others and take part in discussions; without it, they may feel left out. They should also be hardworking and punctual to complete assignments and tests on time. I did not receive any scholarship, as my current university had a tie-up with a German university, so I went directly through my college. Overall, it was a very good experience. Germany is technologically advanced, offers great exposure, and the industrial visits added immense value to my learning.
Likes (Student Life): I always felt secure both on campus and in the surrounding areas. The environment is peaceful, crime rates are low, and public transportation is reliable even at night. The university also has good safety measures and support systems for students, which made me feel confident about my well-being.
Dislikes (Internships): Securing good opportunities often depends on your language proficiency. While the education and course were in English, many quality internships require at least A1 or A2 level German. Professors can provide some guidance, but most of the effort has to come from you. Opportunities are available, yet obtaining them relies heavily on your skill set, networking, and initiative.

Master in General Management (M.B.A.) - Batch of 2026
Offered by Hof University of Applied Sciences
3.4
Limited opportunities but a friendly city.
Tips: Consider the cost of living and have a backup plan if you don't find a part-time job. Learning German is highly beneficial for the German job market. I am satisfied with both the course and the country, as they offer valuable opportunities and learning experiences, not just within the university, but for life in general.
Likes (Safety): There are no cameras, but the city is mostly secure. We have travelled at night many times without any issues. The streets are well-lit, and police vehicles patrol the area. There isn't much noticeable pollution either.
Dislikes (Part time work): There aren't many part-time jobs in the area, as Hof is a small city. To find work, you may need to travel, which is feasible. Part-time work can be managed alongside studies, with an average payout between 13 to 15 euros.

The university is good and is really well integrated with classrooms, a gym, the mess, etc.
Tips: I believe everyone transforms once they have international exposure. You get to see that people enjoy the sauna more than the gym. Winters are cold and empty, while summers are lively. I was fortunate enough to be selected for a semester scholarship from Erasmus. It was 1800 euros. It helped a lot with the expenses you have as an international student. Satisfied with the university, especially my course, as I come from a different professional background.
Likes (Student Life): Since it is a small city and the highest in Bavaria, coming from India, you get to see snowfall every winter. The college is really well integrated with classrooms, a gym, the mess, and everything else - it’s a complete package. You have many events like a boom party, a Halloween party, and a job fair etc. I was an active member of the SV, which is the student union. You also have the ISN, which is the International Student Network, a Christian Student Group, Hofspannung, and many others.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Although there is one restaurant, Ganesha, where you can find Indian food, the taste isn't on par with the Indian palette. Instead, the curries are sweet. When you're out eating, try doner, local bakeries, or pizza shops. But if you really crave Indian food, I recommend cooking it yourself. YouTube can really help, too. Plus, as a student, cooking your own food is cheaper than eating out, and that's helpful if you're on a budget.

Digitalization and Innovation MBA - Batch of 2025
Offered by Hof University of Applied Sciences
3.7
Hof University of Applied Sciences is a safe, secure campus with multiple facilities.
Tips: Hof University offers a lot of variety in MBA programs, so you can always choose whatever suits your background or future ambitions. They also offer a lot of electives so that you can get the most out of your education, whether you know what you're going to do after graduation or not. If you're just looking around, you can check out the course curriculum and only apply if you find a program that appeals to you. There are very few part-time job opportunities on campus. There are a few student assistant positions, but they’re not enough. In technical courses, there are a few intern or student positions available. You can apply for them or directly contact a professor for a position. Hof University of Applied Sciences is a safe, secure campus with multiple parking options, a cafeteria, a gym, and many sports facilities. There is also a good connection to public transport. The university has a student culture that is particularly good for Indian students. Additionally, there are student dormitories available.

Not worth the fees but a good university.
Tips: The university offers the program at a very basic level. I knew all of it when I was studying. They explained in the curriculum that there would be a more in-depth coverage, which didn't happen, which is pretty disappointing. The university has a career service where students can get their resumes reviewed. They will then suggest if any corrections need to be made according to the standards of the hiring managers. Students are expected to find their own internships, and LinkedIn is generally a good place to find advertisements for them.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The campus is well-connected, but the bus, the only public transportation option, has low frequency. Buses only arrive hourly, and a semester ticket covers the cost of riding the bus within the city. A person interested in walking a lot will surely enjoy it here.

M.Eng. in Sustainable Textiles - Batch of 2026
Offered by Hof University of Applied Sciences
4.2
Hof University is great for learning and it’s very friendly for international students.
Tips: I have started living my life on my own, and there was not very much of a cultural shift as there are many Indians in the university. I didn't get a scholarship, but there are no tuition fees for a master's degree as it's a public university. The criteria for admission are a 2.5 GPA, a German A1 Certificate and an IELTS band score of 7.0. Overall, I am totally satisfied with the course and the country.
Likes (Safety): I have been in the city for 3 months and haven't experienced or heard of any safety issues. It's very safe to travel around the city at night, too. Plus, many people in the city are willing to help in case you encounter any problems or are in a bad situation. I can always go out or come home at night without worrying about being unsafe.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There is only one Indian store nearby that is also located in Hof, even though the Textile Campus is located in Münchberg. There are also only three restaurants nearby, which are also located in Hof and not Münchberg. A meal there usually costs 15 euros. For the most part, I just cook for myself.

A peaceful, relaxed and hard working life.
Tips: Management here is very good. If you ask for any help, they will definitely help you. I applied for a scholarship, but unfortunately, I was not qualified for that. Satisfied with my course, and also they have even introduced a new course for us as perones based on the needs of the market need.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very welcoming and highly understanding. They will also assist you with assignments and practicals. There's always something happening, whether it's cultural events, workshops, class activities, a career fair or just students changing out. It's easy to make friends, get involved and feel like you're part of a community.

A supportive, warm, and welcoming university.
Tips: There is a cultural shift to be aware of. In Germany, shops close at 8 pm every day, including weekends and public holidays. I got a scholarship with Bosch and applied for it through their portal. During my six months there, I worked for 35 hours a week as an intern. It’s very easy to find internships during the course. I was lucky enough to get one in Stuttgart with a decent remuneration, which is usually enough for daily expenses. The experience is excellent as you get to learn so much within the work environment. The colleagues are also excellent and supportive. Overall, I am satisfied with my university and the country is very welcoming.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Finding Indian food options is rather difficult. There are 2-3 Indian restaurants, but they are slightly expensive. Usually, it takes around 25 euros to dine at an Indian restaurant per person. I prefer cooking myself as it’s cheaper because other cuisines are relatively cheaper.

Practical learning with strong industry exposure at Hof University.
Tips: Hof University offers practical learning and strong industry tries, but students should be prepared for independent study and German bureaucracy. The transition involved a cultural shift in academics, work-life balance, and social life, with the language barrier being a challenge Learning German helps significantly. Overall, I'm satisfied with my university and course. Germany provides good career opportunities, though adapting to the weather and culture takes time.
Dislikes (Part time work): As Hof is a small city with lots of students it becomes difficult to get on-campus jobs and also it's difficult to get a job outside because of the language barrier. If you found a job the average payout for a part-time job will range around 900-1200.

The university is student friendly and the city is welcoming.
Tips: Before coming to college in Germany, especially for management courses, it is important to be well prepared in the German language. Fortunately, there are many Indians in Hof, so connecting with them through social media and WhatsApp groups is not difficult. The university also provides a lot of help through its portal to find initial accommodation. If you are a high achiever, the university offers scholarships after the first semester to students who are in the top 10% of their batch. I am satisfied with the course, which is operations-oriented and includes a one-year internship that provides valuable experience in Germany before entering the job market.

Public transportation is cheap, student life is the best.
Tips: Considerably cultural shift, it is very hard in the beginning, homesickness is something that got me at first but then I made friends (Please do that!). Campus is modern with all the facilities and things are very fast-paced. Just that in general management course there is a gap between the exams so there is semester extension limit. I came to Germany on DAAD, 930 euros what else I need plus top-notch education. I'm very satisfied and have zero complain.
Likes (Safety): It is safe usually some people are friendly and some are not that much. Some can even be racist at times but well that is something to be learned and deal with patience. Other than that there is no threat, things are cool and transportation is also cheap just 1-2 euro ticket for buses and trams.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The price is fair but the market has not many options. At Ganesha I have tried butter chicken and mango lassi. Well, there is a huge demand for butter chicken in foreign nations so it is believed that it is the most Indian dish (Laugh!). Per person, I guess it costs around 25-30 euros and the taste is okay.
