The university is well recognized; I had a great experience.
Tips: To be honest, back in India, the method of teaching is really different, and it takes some time to adapt. My university provides various scholarships, from a full scholarship to some percentage of the tuition fees.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I feel really fortunate to have had such a supportive and approachable faculty. They were excellent. The best part was to have mentors who have great connections and work experience across the globe.
Dislikes (Internships): No doubt there is a decent amount of guidance provided, in fact, the university organises various networking events and workshops as well. Yes, there are internships available across the UK. Still, a lot depends upon the job market and the field you are in.

A transitional turn-point of my personality.
Tips: You won't find any transition; just come with an open heart and mind to explore and accept everything. You can make the most of it. There are many scholarships available if you apply on time. I received the Dean's Excellence Award from the University. I received every possible support from the university, from academics to mental well-being. The course is culturally diverse, which gives you an edge to think outside your borders. Scotland is very beautiful, especially Edinburgh. It's a very safe and walkable city, with friendly faces and kindness in people's hearts.
Likes (Indian Food): There's no need to pack your bag with Indian food and spices; there are so many Indian and Asian shops in Edinburgh, and you can find everything here, from mustard oil to cereals! Plus, if you don't feel like cooking, there are also economical eating-out options.
Dislikes (Internships): There is no collaboration between the university and the industry for internships. Students have to find internships on their own, and the job market often prefers undergraduates for summer and winter internships over postgraduates, making it difficult for students to secure them.

Tips: The University of Edinburgh is the best choice if you prioritise strong academics and personal growth. Though Edinburgh is a smaller city, it offers everything you need: great cafes, restaurants, events, and festivals. There are also numerous healthy options, gyms, and MMA clubs. The city boasts many scenic spots, but be prepared for unpredictable weather – the sun can come and go in the same hour. There are also many forest reserves in the city where you can run, hike, or film. If you're seeking a tranquil environment to focus on your studies and stay active, Edinburgh is ideal. However, if you prefer a fast-paced, "hustle culture" city, consider Glasgow, Manchester, or London instead.
Likes (Public transportation): Most of Scotland is well-connected by public transport. Coming from someone who used to have their own vehicle, I find it quite good. You can purchase monthly or yearly passes for unlimited travel. Buses and trains are consistently on time and run frequently, even in areas like the Highlands, and offer student discounts for out-of-town travel. Scotrail and Citylink are excellent options for travelling within Scotland. If you're under 21, apply for a ScotRail travel card for free public transport until your 22nd birthday. For solo travellers, check out hostellingscotland.com for affordable and well-equipped hostels.
Dislikes (Part time work): If you're pursuing a demanding master's degree like mine in Fintech, working part-time might be challenging alongside academics, research, and job applications. However, undergraduates should definitely consider it. It's best to apply before arriving in August, as Edinburgh is a smaller city, and jobs fill up quickly. Candidates with prior experience will likely be prioritised, unless you have a referral from a friend or someone local. Before you arrive, apply to major stores like Sainsbury's, Aldi, Tesco, Asda, Lidl, and JD Sports, as most applications are done online. For more local positions, create a profile on Indeed.

Tips: Be prepared for a rigorous academic environment. Make sure to understand visa requirements, the cost of living, and available support services. Networking and early engagement with career services can help secure opportunities. Transitioning involved adapting to an independent learning style and a multicultural environment. Initially, I felt a bit isolated, but I gradually adjusted to diverse perspectives and social customs, which enriched my experience. I received a partial tuition scholarship based on academic merit. The allowance was 35,000, which helped offset tuition fees. The university offers excellent academic support, the course is well-structured with a strong focus on real-world skills, and the country is safe, welcoming, and culturally vibrant.

Likes (Value for money): The University of Edinburgh gives us good returns like working for 2-3 years with a great pay and going back to your home country. The return on investment is good. The reputation you get after studying from this university is commendable, and everyone knows about the university. It has worldwide reach.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I don’t prefer settling here permanently as I think we have abundant facilities back in our home country to grab. And the weather over here in Scotland is not suitable for me. Also, people here are very humble and easy-going, but hometown hits different.

There are lots of Indians, Indian stores and restaurants, so you'll not completely miss home.
Tips: For me, the transition felt very smooth and not difficult at all. If one has previously had to move to a different state for their studies and had to live by themselves in a PG or otherwise, this will feel the same, even though it's to a different country and continent altogether. The cultural shift isn't too extreme either, since it's heavily dependent on the friend group you are with, mostly. There are lots of Indians, Indian stores and restaurants, so you'll not completely miss home. You also get to experience the cultures of all the students from different countries if you befriend them, which is a great learning experience. I'd received the India Merit Scholarship, which is automatically given to eligible students based on their application and undergraduate scores, worth 5000 GBP. This is deducted from the tuition fee and not something that is given to the students directly. I'm honestly very satisfied with the university, course and country. While there are a few gripes that I have with the infrastructure available to the students, this has been a very fun and pleasant experience overall. Scotland and Edinburgh are extremely safe, very walkable, and amazing places to be, and the people are super sweet and friendly.
Likes (Student Life): An average day in college involves 2 to 3 hours of classes, which can be a mix of theory and lab classes. Lab classes are very well arranged in that they help you implement and practically learn what was taught in the theory classes. Depending on which campus the class is on, a decent chunk of time on campus might be spent on travelling between the campuses, though a bus service makes this very easy. In terms of events, there is something or the other happening almost every day and every week, whether it be social events or guest lectures and all sorts. While I don't participate very often, it's very fun when I do. In terms of clubs and societies, there are tons of them ranging from computer Science societies to dance clubs to sports clubs and more. Anything you're interested in, there is probably a club or society for it.
Dislikes (Value for money): I think the tuition fee for the course is significantly higher than the average and compared to other Russel League universities in the UK, and not completely justified. While I agree that the course faculty are amazing and student communities and opportunities are amazing, a lot of the services provided such as the computing infrastructure to the students in the course are not as good as you'd expect for the cost of the course.

The university provides strong guidance and resources for applying to and finding internships.
Tips: It was quite hard to adapt to survive here, understanding the dialect, adapting to food that isn't that spicy, etc. I was awarded the India Merit Scholarship, which was awarded to academically highly ranked students. I would firmly say Edinburgh is the best place to live in and explore. There is something here for everyone. It has the countryside charm, a magical place for Potterheads, and buzzing city life too. Overall, I am very much satisfied with the university, the course content, and the country.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty in my department is accessible and approachable. They are quite friendly and open to solving any of our queries regarding academics or professional advice when we reach out to them through email. They are also open to chats, depending on their availability. I find the teaching methodologies to be top-class, practical, and insightful. The teaching faculty members are from diverse backgrounds, too, with excellent research fingerprints.
Dislikes (Internships): The university provides strong guidance and resources for applying to and finding internships. There is a dedicated Career Services that offers holistic support throughout the entire process, from CV building and interviews to networking and job search strategies. However, despite this support, securing an internship in the UK can be quite challenging due to the competitive nature of the job market and visa-related constraints. That said, the available internships are highly relevant to my field of study and align well with my academic and professional goals.

Few administrative issues but a lot of opportunities for students.
Tips: Prepare yourself for the weather. It's very windy and chilly in general, but there are multiple good days, which makes you appreciate the sun. There are lots of cultural differences, and many different cultures, so it's nice to keep an open mind and try to meet new people. You will change in many ways unknowingly, but it will teach you to be more resilient. Also, socialising is tough, but it is literally the most important in the first year. It's nice to have friends who will support you. There are very specific scholarships with relatively small amounts of funding. They are course-specific, but each course has awards based on exceptional performance, which can grant you some allowance. I've been able to challenge myself by trying to learn more. Tutorials are very engaging. The university is quite good, too, however, there's a rift between the student council and administration regarding funding and investment. Scotland is very scenic and safe. It's not too tough to make friends.
Likes (Student Life): Extremely diverse range of societies. We can find something for almost any niche, and can make societies too. The students' union council is extremely supportive and also provides a lot of opportunities for students. Societies and people in them are very engaged and positive. For the academic, there are so many peer support groups, including one-on-one writing sessions, reading groups and of course, the professor's office hours. I feel very supported and included.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK, in general, has been implementing stricter immigration laws, so I'm not sure, maybe the chance of permanent immigration is 60%. I want to travel more before choosing a place to live, but this is a good place to live. Maybe somewhere warmer might suit me more, but there are a lot of opportunities for artists/creatives.

Transportation systems are affordable and dependable.
Tips: The University Accommodation was up to my expectations, and the University had a lot of events in the welcome week to make the transition easy for me. Adjusting to the weather was hard, but you get used to it eventually. Since there are multiple cultures, the cultural shift isn't extremely difficult. I did not receive any scholarship, so I am personally funding my time here. I am fairly satisfied with the university and the course and extremely satisfied by the city.
Likes (Safety): The city is extremely safe and student-friendly. I haven't had a single incident here. Public transport is readily available via buses and trams. The city is extremely walkable, which is especially helpful when the trams aren't running. I find the transportation system to be affordable and dependable. I haven't had any security concerns, either.
Dislikes (Internships): The University of Edinburgh offers a lot of part-time opportunities. However, there aren't many internship opportunities that are brought in by the university. If you are looking for internships, you have to rely on LinkedIn and other job posting sites. However, the University has an eager-to-help student development and career development hub that you can seek guidance from.

The university is culturally diverse and will offer you an array of networks.
Tips: The university is culturally diverse, and it might take some time to get adjusted to this. But everyone like you will be in the same boat. It might take a month or two to figure things out, but it eventually starts getting better. The University also ensures through different workshops to smoothen up the cultural transition for us through various events like potlucks. I am highly satisfied with my course as it is very well-structured and delivered. University of Edinburgh was my dream university and I am happy with my decision of choosing to study here.
Likes (Public transportation): The city has buses, trams, trains, taxis and Uber, like other UK cities. The prices are pretty much similar. I don't find it quite affordable to avail of the bus daily as my accommodation is just 15 minutes walking distance from the business school. Edinburgh is easily walkable. Be prepared for the slopes and the uphill climb around the city.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I don't want to permanently settle here for personal reasons, but it might be a nice place to settle if someone wants to, considering they have a high-paying job. The living costs are expensive. Other than that, Edinburgh is safer than most UK cities, with amazing air quality and literally no pollution. It is culturally diverse and will offer you an array of networks, considering you indulge in the same.

Tips: I found the city and the campus very student friendly and welcoming, which made my transition here much smoother and simpler than I had anticipated. Tips: The old town area has a lot to explore and the campus is beautiful as well. The lectures are very engaging and the faculty is also very involved hence, communication becomes a lot easier. Tips: I can see many changes in myself after joining Aston University. I have improved a lot, my confidence has improved, my conversation skills and, of course, academically, I've learned a lot. I received a January intake scholarship that was £45000. I am satisfied with my university.
Likes (Public transportation): Aston University's Birmingham campus is well-connected to the city, as it's located in the city centre. This makes it easy to access restaurants, shopping malls, stores, and places to hang out. Cabs, buses, and trains are readily available, and the public transportation system is similar to other UK cities.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The university provides minimal CV assistance. There are no career fairs, and job opportunities seem more abundant for Bachelor's graduates than for Master's students. Furthermore, sponsored jobs are scarce.

The UK currently offers very limited skilled worker visa options for marketing roles.
Tips: Cultural shifts should ideally occur in a foreign land. They were a valuable learning experience, but the university clubs made the adaptation process easier. I secured a part-time job as a Marketing specialist with the assistance of my subject mentor, which paid me the minimum hourly rate. I had higher expectations for my course in terms of academics. While it undoubtedly provided me with theoretical knowledge, it failed to prepare me adequately for the UK job market. The UK job market was relatively stagnant, making it challenging for international students to find jobs during the course and even after graduation. Consequently, we faced financial difficulties due to the high cost of living.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transportation system in this city has great connectivity, whether it’s buses or trains. Once you get the hang of using the apps, it becomes very convenient. The public transport is fairly affordable. There are discounts and cards available for students discount and other types of discounts.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK currently offers very limited skilled worker visa options for marketing roles. Pursuing a work visa through study routes is not only extremely costly but also comes with no job guarantee after graduation. I would never consider permanent immigration to the UK, given its current growth rate and job market. I prefer to grow, learn, and build experience in India.

Tips: I had a lot of opportunities to work with people from different courses at Aston University. They provide scholarships, and I got about 4,500 for having over 85% in my undergraduate degree. I am very satisfied with my overall experience at the university. It has been a great educational experience. I also appreciate that the courses are offered in the country where the university is located.
Dislikes (Part time work): Getting a part-time job is becoming very difficult due to the increase in students coming abroad. If you get your assignments done on time or before, a part-time job is manageable. However, the payout is currently at the minimum of 12.21, which is the minimum basic pay per the government.

It's not fair to bring our cultural and religious practices from our home countries and make people uncomfortable. But of course, we can still practice our beliefs as long as we're not imposing them on others. I did receive a 2000-pound scholarship based on my academic background. The university life was so good. It has plenty of events and extracurricular activities, and the students' union during my time was amazing. I took data analytics, which was a really good course. A few months after I graduated, I found a job in that field. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the course, university and the country.
Likes (Public transportation): The university is in the city centre, and there is access to all kinds of transportation within walking distance. Also, buses give special discounts for students, and that is a great thing while we are in university, so we can save some money. In addition, some buses come as frequently as every five minutes, so it's safe as well.
Dislikes (Internships): Internship opportunities are there, but we have to take the initiative to find them. The university won’t hand you an internship. When you begin at the university, there are a lot of career fairs and career support teams. If you use these resources wisely, you’ve got a good shot at getting an internship.

Tips: Students must find accommodation in the city centre. The staff are really helpful. I got an early acceptance scholarship. The curriculum is really different, in a good way, so one can easily balance their work and study. Overall, I am really satisfied with the course. university and the campus.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is nice and helpful. They are informative and responsive. They really interact a lot with the students and help them in any way possible. Our course especially had some practical exercises which helped us to understand the industry better.

Totally a new kind of experience.
Tips: I didn't get scholarship, and the transition was difficult at the start but making more and more friends helped me through the college experience, and assignments as well. It is a good course, but I didn't learn any practical skill required for the jobs.
Likes (Student Life): Food options are good, and library and study area are also nice. There is a good option to network with friends. Clubs are there in the university and around the university. We can have a good time with our friends and, also events are always going on at the Aston portals.
Dislikes (Internships): No Internship opportunities are there. Overall, the university has a placement department which helps with resume writing, but they don't help us to get job or internship. We have to do research and apply on our own to get an internship, which is very difficult nowadays.

The college is very good in aspects of facilities.
Tips: I am quite happy with the way things are now at Aston University. There are so many people from my country that I don't feel much of a cultural shift. I also got a scholarship of 6000 Pounds from Aston, which is far better than any other Russell Group university. If you are interested in studying here, please inquire about the modules you plan to study.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are very knowledgeable and helpful. They provide various opportunities for students and also help students with various aspects of mentoring during the course. The modules are thought out very well, and the faculty are always ready to help, even during non-working hours. Resources are shared on time, and the faculty are always available to answer questions.
Dislikes (Internships): I am yet to discover internships here. I belong to the September 2024 batch and am currently pursuing an MS in business and management. The college is very good, and everything is easily accessible and modernized. I hope internships will be easy to find, but I have heard from seniors and fellow students that finding a paid internship is quite difficult.

Tips: University is quite diversified and have lots of students from India and all over the world. Their are many scholarships which are offered by the university. University is located at city centre so everything is nearby. Overall, my personal experience was good.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The staff is really great and helpful. All professors have enough experience and prefer a practical approach while teaching. You can book appointments with all your professors and can talk with them anytime during working hours. I have seen quite a diversity in the faculty members.
Dislikes (Internships): My course comes under engineering college, so we were not allowed for internship. In business school internship is part of their term time which is not the case for courses in engineering college. You get enough time for the third term and work on your dissertation so that you can collaborate with any company.

Tips: Before joining the university you should carefully review the course you want to join and achieve a career in it and also how many accreditations it has. What are the chances of jobs after completing your degree. And if you start the process of application well in advance you can get scholarships worth 1000-3000.
Likes (Indian Food): I have a lot of Indian restaurant options and different cuisines are also available, for instance, north Indian, Indo-Chinese, South Indian, Chat etc. So food is not gonna be a problem. But eating out regularly can be expensive. So I would suggest getting the groceries and cooking at home and all Indian groceries can be purchased from Indian shops nearby.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Nowadays, it is very hard to get a job in the field which you have studied. Then the most common problem is your visa status. That's one of the major reasons for rejection of the job. An ATS-friendly resume and Cover letter is another task that needs to be 100% accurate before you apply for the jobs and your resume needs to be tailored before applying for each job. So this all makes getting a job a little difficult. Though the university provides a website where they regularly post graduate role jobs.

Tips: There are many scholarships and the best scholarship to apply is vice chancellor scholarships. Birmingham is mostly a student-based city and we can get many part-time jobs. Rent is cheap and ABG is a good student accommodation you can opt for if you are joining Aston University. Apart from food, we will not experience much cultural shift.
Likes (Student Life): The organisation hosts numerous student gathering events designed to foster community and engagement among students. Unfortunately, my experience was different due to timing. I completed my postgraduate studies right after the pandemic, a period when campus activities were significantly restricted. During my time, the emphasis was on maintaining health and safety, which meant many traditional on-campus events were either cancelled or moved online. This lack of in-person gatherings limited opportunities for networking and building connections with peers and faculty, a vital aspect of the university experience. Although virtual events were held, they often lacked the interactive and immersive qualities of face-to-face meetings. Despite these challenges, the resilience of the student community honed through. We adapted by creating smaller, informal meet-ups and leveraging online platforms to stay connected. Now, as campus life gradually returns to normal, the organisation is revitalizing its event calendar, offering a range of activities that cater to diverse interests and foster a sense of belonging among students. This renewed focus on community-building is essential for creating a vibrant, supportive academic environment.

Likes (Student Life): I rated 5 on Student Life because I absolutely love my college experience! A typical day for me is always paced with exciting activities. I usually start with classes, followed by club meetings or group projects. I'm part of the debate club and volunteer groups which keeps me engaged and active. I also make sure to attend various events organized on campus, such as guest lectures, cultural festivals, and career fair. What I enjoy most about my college life is the sense of community and camaraderie. I participate in at least 2-3 events per week, which helps me stay connected with my peers and faculty members. Likes (Student Life): Quality of life will be good being more productive. Going to libraries, with different people. Doing many things at a time makes us more productive. Apart from studies you will have a chance to participate in various events such as student leadership roles and sports etc.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Currently, employers are not offering sponsorship for long-term visas as they feel supply chain positions can be easily replaced by someone unless the individual is well-experienced, But that differs to other streams. But in the supply chain, we do have jobs and we just need them in the right way.

Tips: There was definitely a transition after coming here. There was not much of any cultural shift I experienced but there was definitely a change in my lifestyle and personal growth which inclined towards self-development.
I did not avail of any scholarships and the university doesn’t provide too many scholarships and getting one is rare.
I am satisfied with the university but not the course. The course needs much learning outside the curriculum. You need to learn different tools and techniques which are not included in the course for better learning opportunities.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is situated in the center of the city and is easy to commute. There are buses running all day with very high frequency. The transportation is pretty affordable when compared to other cities. The university provides a concession amount for the people who travel to the university. So transportation should not be an issue.
Dislikes (Value for money): The rating of 2 for the tution fee is supported by a lack of robust experiences and extracurricular activities, the perception of average instructors and insufficient university support in placements which collectively contribute to a less satisfying educational experience.

Tips: You'll find many students from India and South Asian here, language here is no such problem however pace up with the British Accent! I personally wasn't on any scholarship here. The course curriculum was good and Industry- specific and our lecturers were good as well giving us all the relevant knowledge that we needed. The college has many groups and clubs you can join and become part of and football here is good. The college has been a long-time supporter of Aston-villa F. C currently playing in the top tier of English football and students do get some perks in their home games at villa park. You'll definitely enjoy being here at Aston!
Likes (Post study jobs): I would say that the placements are quite average but I've rated it 5 because the university is constantly improving with the new graduate route. Most of the placement opportunities are online and one can apply from there. Nearly all the students get jobs or get enrolled for Ph.D.
Dislikes (Value for money): Considering the difference in academic pattern of Aston with that of other Indian Institutions, there is better student support. The student union here is good which adds up the value of money paid to come here. Honestly, it's not only about the quality of faculty but also about how you are treated as a foreign student in the institution you are going. However I've rated it a 4 because no doubt there are groups and unions to help you out but the help-desk processes are a bit slow.

Overrated with respect to fees but maybe better for MBA courses
Tips: I am an Indian and while coming to UK, I was expecting to live in a different culture. However, the majority of the crowd here is Indian. My class had 98% Indians. I did not like that as I wanted to experience studying with people from different backgrounds. However, everybody has a different perspective and they might find comfort in such an environment.
Likes (Public transportation): There are buses and trams every 10 minutes throughout the city. Hence, travelling by public transport is easy. There are cabs available as well. The bus pass costs 40 gbp per month based on student discounts and the university also provides help to students living far.
Dislikes (Value for money): My tuition fee which is almost 21000 gbp does not seem justified. The syllabus is short and repetitive. The ranking of the university is going down. It does not make sense to pay that much amount for a university which does not stand out from other cheaper and better universities.

Tips: Aston is not very prestigious university but still it's reputation is good and it will provide you with many opportunities. So you will need to work extra hard if you want to land a great job in future. Aston provides lots of support to students and especially tries to help international students as much as they can in every possible way. They really have a great and resourceful library. Tutors of Aston are awesome and know what they are doing. Try not to skip classes, pay attention in classes and you will be golden. You will gain lots of knowledge here and experience which will help you in future.
Likes (Student Life): As I live near my university everything I need is very close by. And public transport here is really good so it's not an issue even if you live far. Lots to do, nightlife is never boring here. Lots of resources are available to students by university. You will find student discounts almost everywhere. It is very easy to find part time job if you are not very picky about it.
Dislikes (Safety): Not my personal experience but heard from some people that they have been subjected to some unpleasant situations like eve teasing, mugging etc. And almost every local advised me to be careful at night and to stay away from certain areas. All in all, if you're careful it's not really that bad.
