It is great to be a Florida Gator.
Tips: Be ready to race the Florida climate, it can be unpredictable. Be prepared to learn a plethora of topics from math to engineering to economics to data analytics. Have a well-planned strategy to spend time here wisely. Use every opportunity to develop personally and professionally, clubs, networking events, career fair, conferences, sports teams, on-campus part-time jobs, etc., you never know who you'll meet. Learn about the culture and languages used here. The South is way more diverse and rooted than it gets the buck for. Embrace the Gator Spirit and uphold the Gator Engineering values.

Univeristy of Florida - Go Gators
Tips: No cultural shift as such, pretty easy to be honest. I had a 1500 scholarship for each semester. They made sure I am comfortable with my studies, internships and other aspects of a Masters degree.
Likes (Internships): I interned at Amazon as a data scientist so I think there are multiple job opportunities available. Also, there are multiple career fairs during each semester so which helps. Also there is an internal career website for Uf students so which helps as well in finding internships and assistantships.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking, though there are multiple Indian restaurants available nearby. Also there were multiple takeaway restaurants with a variety of indian food available lot of indian grocery stores, so it never felt like I was missing out on my home food.

Tips: I have liked the culture and my classes since the beginning. The classes are competitive and project intensive depending on your programme. Professors are direct and friendly and people are welcoming. There's a lot of school spirit and the spirit is electric here. Cook your own meals and carpool/share resources if you can to save up. The research opportunities are impressive as well.

The perks and cons of studying at a low cost University like UF.
Tips: Few scholarships / RA ships are available. Largely self funded, but considering the uncertainty, it's a good investment not to go for expensive universities. It ranks good in the Scheme in the country. Lab courses are designed to meet job skills. Networking is largely on your own.
Likes (Safety): Gainesville is pretty safe. RTS buses are functional throughout the day. At night, it is advisable to travel in groups, however, no untoward incident is reported towards students.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are hard to come by in the current market situation. It's largely dependent on your own network, having a great resume and going to a career fair to build some contacts. For the Scheme, teaching skills in labs are largely helpful in securing internships. The University gives the option to go for a co-op if you secure an internship.

Very good faculty and nice environment.
Tips: Excellent ROI, with the lowest tuition nationally, but location wise not a good choice, but if you are from the CS Department, the location should not affect you that much. People from here have gotten into very good companies, so basically it's up to you.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members are very good. They come from very reputable universities across the world. Diversity is there in the department, and you'll absolutely love the courses over here, like MS and NLP. Teaching methodology varies from faculty to faculty, but it is great.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It's a university town, so very less Indian food options are available. But still, for other things, you can find many options here. Walmart is the best option for groceries. There are a lot of food chains available in the area. So you won't have difficulty finding the food that you like.

A great place to learn ad grow.
Tips: Like any international student, you will face a lot of changes in the new environment, which will make you learn and grow. There will be many new opportunities, and you will have to put effort and try things. It's all what you make of it. The university offers many opportunities to grow personally as well as professionally.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Most professors here are very knowledgeable and kind. They support students who bring up new ideas. We can approach them easily for any doubts, accommodation or any other help. They promptly respond to the queries of students. They also bring in many speakers for guest lectures.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are not easily available, especially for international students. Career fairs are held, and that is one way to connect with employers. But the internship opportunities can be hard to get. We have to connect more with the employers and attend events.

Competitive yet rewarding.
Tips: College is competitive, and I have adapted to the culture here. Haven't been a scholarship student, but I have been satisfied with the course and the country, except for the part where I have to look for good jobs that can sponsor my visa in the future.
Likes (Safety): The whole town feels safe, as it is just a small university town. And there is bus connectivity everywhere, and there is the UF Police department that is very active most of the time of day and is constantly patrolling the University at regular intervals, which shows that they are keeping it safe for us students.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I am actively looking for jobs and haven't landed any interviews yet. I have seen a lot of seniors from my college who had a rough road to success in terms of finding jobs that sponsor the visa for us. That's the main concern for international students.

The perfect college town if you are a student
Tips: If a person is living in a tier 1 city in India, then the USA is not much different except the people. So it is not that difficult to get used to it. There is an academic excellence scholarship option at the end of the year worth $1000. I am more or less satisfied with the university.
Likes (Public transportation): There are ample buses to every part of the city and it is free for the students. You just have to show your university ID card and that's it. The bus frequency is also not a problem as the buses start from 6 am in the morning through 12 am in the night.
Dislikes (Value for money): Job opportunities, not so much, else everything is very good. It is tough to find internships and jobs because of the visa sponsorship issue. But for overall value for money, it is worth it, as it is one of the cheapest business degrees in the USA. Overall it is a good course.

University of Florida: Affordable in terms of course fee.
Tips: University of Florida is ranked as the best public university in the United States. It is also very good for the Computer Science stream. The professors are well-versed and teach really well. The curriculum is well designed with a good number of assignments, projects and exams to get a deeper understanding of the subjects. Another plus point about the University of Florida is its affordable fees (around $35000 for the whole course). The only thing I observed as not good is the lack of diversity in the MS in Computer Science programme. About 95% of the MSCS students are Indians.
Likes (Indian Food): We have a decent number of small to medium-scale restaurants which offer Indian cuisine. There are also restaurants offering other cuisines like Asian, Chinese, Thai and also a good number of American restaurants and fast food chains. I usually cook at home, but go to restaurants once in a while.
Dislikes (Internships): For a really long time, the University of Florida has been one of the top colleges in terms of internships and full-time job placements. But, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the US economy has been in a recession which has led to a significant drop in placement opportunities.

University of Florida - Really worth experience.
Tips: Gainesville is a student friendly city, offering pleasant tropical weather throughout most of the year and at least one hurricane annually. The College of Engineering offers a $4500 scholarship over three semesters. I am really happy with the university's atmosphere, and my course is enriched by excellent professors closely connected to industry and electronic trends. University of Florida stands out as one of the few universities with its own nanoscale research lab, where you can design and fabricate integrated circuits.
Likes (Safety): There are panic alarms all over the campus; when activated, the police respond within minutes. Gainesville predominantly functions as a college town, encompassing a significant portion of the city, and since the majority are students, safety concerns are minimal. Personally, I haven't encountered any negative experiences. If you decide to come here, there are some famous places in Gainesville that you should explore.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): You have to start applying for jobs at least 8-10 months before your graduation. For ECE, major companies such as Apple, AMD, Nvidia, TI, Micron, Qualcomm, Cisco, and others typically sponsor H1B visas. The roles vary widely based on your concentration - Analog, Digital, Firmware and salary ranges are not fixed, contingent on your work experience. However, for a newcomer, the salary would typically start around USD 90,000 to USD 95,000.

Amazing University with abundance of resources. Overall, perfect place for you to study
Tips: My transitioning was smooth and haven't felt that much cultural shift because I am living in Indian society. We all get multiple scholarship opportunities and I am overjoyed and satisfied with my University, course and especially USA. The University of Florida has amazing faculty, the best environment and favourable places to study and work towards invention and innovation.
Likes (Indian Food): Every country's food is available on campus. Food is available everywhere at every corner of the university across the whole city. The University of Florida is an amazing place. There are multiple canteens and outlets of various cuisines available to us in diverse forms.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time jobs are not available. Applying on website and everywhere else, me and my friends couldn't find part-time jobs. We tried in the last semester and till now we couldn't find it. So I won't recommend you here for part-time jobs, you may find part-time jobs outside campus but not on the campus.

IU Bloomington provides a wide range of opportunities.
Tips: I would say come prepared with good projects in your resume, manage yourself and work hard. The initial days might be hard, but slowly it gets better. This university is really good for international students and I would recommend it to many, apart from Indian students. The data science courses here are some of the best in the USA, and there are plenty of opportunities.
Likes (Part time work): The on-campus part-time jobs are many in dining, and any student can easily get into one before coming here. I got mine before coming here; many students do. The assistantship opportunities are also many, and there are organisations like CNS, UITS, and the Housier Community Centre which pay well. A student can easily survive on the expenses in Bloomington with a part-time job. And maybe on the starting days might be hectic to manage things, but slowly we get used to those.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I do not wish you to permanently immigrate to the USA. I always wanted to get back to India. And this particular question cannot be answered in a university-specific way now. Indeed, I can say IUB is one of the best universities for international students, with plenty of opportunities giving OPT.

Academic integrity and hard work is the key here.
Tips: When you are moving to the U. S from India, there is a notable cultural shift, but it's manageable with time. The communication style here is more direct and informal. People love their personal space, it's a two-way street, you respect their personal space and they respect yours. When it comes to the educational system in the U. S, its emphasis more on critical thinking and your participation in the class matters a lot unlike the lecture-based and rot memorization methods followed in India. The assignments and projects require your own input and the grades are earned solely through your efforts and contribution. Plagiarism is highly offensive and unacceptable here, you will not get away with it, so it's advised to show academic integrity at all times. Overall, I'm highly satisfied with the university's academic quality, course offerings, and the opportunities it provides.

All the faculty are approachable and helpful.
Tips: 1) There is a cultural and academic shift in terms of how everything works here, from greetings when you meet someone to the emphasis on self-learning and practical learning. It's quite different, but it's a good experience which everyone gets used to. 2) Unfortunately, IUB very rarely offers any scholarships. There are many TA opportunities but the benefits of being a TA are inferior compared to other universities. As TAs we only get paid hourly without any substantial stipend or college tuition fee waiver. Thus everyone gets a decent opportunity at being a TA but it doesn't really pay off much.
Likes (Quality of faculty): 1) The courses offered at IUB for Computer Science and Data Science are pretty extensive. There are many options to choose from compared to other universities. The faculty has a mixed pool of good and bad professors, but all the courses are oriented towards practical learning with a lot of emphasis on assignments and projects. 2) There is a diverse mix of professors at IUB and most of them are very approachable. All professors have office hours during which you can visit them and most courses will have TAs also who will be there to assist you throughout the course.
Dislikes (Indian Food): 1) In Bloomington, being a college town, the landscaped of Indian dining options is somewhat limited, with only a handful of establishments offering Indian cuisine, typically numbering around 3 to 4. While these restaurants provide a serviceable experience, the culinary offerings often tend towards the real average taste. 2) I find greater satisfaction in preparing Indian dishes within the confines of my kitchen. This approach gives me the flexibility to tailor the flavour precisely to my discerning palate. Fortunately, Bloomington boasts a resourceful Indian store by the name of Apna Bazaar, which consistently stocks an extensive array of Indian spices, condiments, and culinary essentials. This accessibility ensures that I can procure all necessary ingredients with ease, facilitating the creation of authentic and flavoursome Indian delicacies in the comfort of my home.

Do not expect good placement.
Tips: Placements are not really good for the amount of fees paid. Amenities are good but still, the college fee is at a higher price point. Education quality is good. Most of the professors teach really well, but with the higher acceptance rate into the college, the quality of the student environment turns poor.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is available for free to commute and takes less than 20 minutes. Most of the buses are crowded during the class timings, but other times they are mostly empty. Transportation is not available 24/7. Saturdays and Sundays they are only available between 10 to 6.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): College doesn't really help in securing jobs. Out of 100 companies that come to career fairs, only 2 to 3 are willing to take international students. Most opportunities are for experienced people rather than freshers. It would be a good idea to come here after having some experience.

Courses are academically tough, so you'll have to start on the assignments early on and also give proper time to your job prep, college is not of much help for co-ops, even if you secure one yourself.

I have a positive opinion. Good university.
Tips: I would say it is a good college and you can definitely consider joining it. It is a university worth every penny. You can get a part-time job pretty easily and with that, you can manage your monthly expenses. Also, the living cost is below average so overall a 4.5/5.
