Always contact the international office; they offer excellent support.
Tips: Always contact the international office; they offer excellent support. While I didn't receive a scholarship, there are many available. Check daad.de and inquire with the international office about potential scholarships. I am very satisfied with my university, course, and I absolutely love Germany.
Likes (Safety): The university prioritises student safety. There's always a contact person available to assist with any issues, providing personal support. The overall culture is very helpful, and safety concerns are minimal. The city is also relatively safe.
Dislikes (Internships): I have heard great things about internships. While I haven't really completed my Master's and so I cannot share my personal experience. But at the moment my werkstudent job also plays really good. In addition to that the course really prepares you for the jobs after completing the programme.

The University of Mannheim is known for its academic rigour.
Tips: The University of Mannheim is known for its academic rigour, especially in business, economics, and social sciences. Students should be prepared for a fast-paced curriculum, active class participation, and high expectations. It's also helpful to familiarize yourself with the German academic system, which may be quite different from other countries in terms of grading, assessment, and course registration. Knowing some basic German even if your programme is in English, can make daily life much easier. The transition was smooth overall, but there were a few cultural shifts. Germans tend to be very punctual, direct, and structured, which I found refreshing but also took some time to get used to. The academic culture is more independent; you're expected to manage your time and learning without constant guidance. That said, the university and fellow students are very supportive, and there are plenty of integration events for international students. There are a few options for students to apply for scholarships like for e. g., DAAD or university-specific scholarship. The application process involved submitting academic transcripts, a motivation letter, and reference letters. The allowance varied, but it typically covers part of the living expenses, anywhere between 400 to 850 per month, depending on the scholarship type. Lastly, I'm very satisfied with all three. The University of Mannheim offers a high-quality education with experienced faculty and strong research opportunities. My course is both intellectually stimulating and practically relevant. As for Germany, it's a great place to study, safe, culturally rich, and student-friendly in terms of cost compared to many other European countries.

The best university in Germany for every field of study.
Tips: Students should be aware of the course, study area, and professors. They should also be very well known about the course criteria and the university's location. Students who are self-funding should research available scholarships.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): My college experience has been really enjoyable and fulfilling. A typical day involves attending lectures, working on projects with friends, and spending time in the library and common areas. I enjoyed the atmosphere the most.
Dislikes (Student Life): This university is very large. The professors are nice and helpful, and the students are very helpful and friendly. I spent nearly two years there and feel very secure and professional during my academics. I spend around three to four hours in the library.

I would recommend UoM for people who are really hard-working and love studying by themselves.
Tips: Transition was quick, and I experienced no cultural shift. I did not avail any scholarship and funded myself for one year. The course requires independent study, and the country is great for introverts. Overall, I am quite satsified with the university.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is very well connected to the city, with trams and buses available for intercity travel. While not cheap, costing around €50 per month, the public transportation is totally convenient. The university and staff are great, but be prepared to do most of your studying independently. The city is good, but life moves at a slow and patient pace.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Since the market is tight, no companies are currently hiring. Considering the general salary package for data scientists is around €40,000-€60,000 to start, I haven't received any interview calls in the past six months, despite having great grades.

The examinations here are quite intuitive and focus on conceptual understanding.
Tips: It took some time to settle in, as I had to handle everything myself. It was a bit of an adjustment. There was a slight cultural shift due to the safety rules and regulations. The examinations here are quite intuitive and focus on conceptual understanding, so simply memorising information will not be enough to succeed. A deep understanding of the core concepts is essential for achieving good results. Furthermore, the faculty members are not only approachable and supportive but also genuinely dedicated to fostering a strong learning environment, and the project-based learning opportunities provide invaluable hands-on experience.

Very academic oriented, but not so happening socially.
Tips: The quality of education is very good. You get maximum depth in any subject you choose to study. Professors and tutors are helpful and friendly, as per my experience. Assignments are not so easy, but really helps to enhance our knowledge. Totally, a simple and easy going university.

FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is generally well-regarded.
Tips: Before joining FAU Erlangen, students should priorities applying for necessary visas or residence permits, securing accommodation in or around Erlangen, and understanding the cost of living and financing their studies. They should also familiarise themselves with the semester date and be prepared for the language requirements of their chosen degree programme, as German is the primary teaching language at FAU. International students need to apply for the appropriate visa or residence permit for Germany and ensure they understand the regulations for their home country. Find accommodation in Erlangen or the surrounding area. FAU offers a service to help find housing, and students can also look for private rentals. Research the cost of living in Erlangen and explore ways to finance their studies, including scholarships and student loan. Be aware that German is the primary teaching language at FAU, and some degree programs may have specific English language requirements. Familiarise yourself with the semester date at FAU, as they determined when classes start and end. Attend introductory events and pre-semester courses for your degree programme, and familiarise yourself with the support services offered by FAU. Understand the enrollment process, including re-registration for each semester and registration for examinations. Utilise the Student Advice Centre for guidance and support throughout your studies.
Likes (Post study jobs): At the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), job roles range from research and teaching positions to IT, administration, and facility management. Salary packages vary significantly based on the position and experience, with some roles offering annual salaries in the range of 46,000 to 1,10,000, while others, like Associate Professors, may earn up to 1,53,092 per year.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Nowadays, cafes and restaurants are everywhere, and a lot of people like to eat there. But other people prefer to stay at home and cook for themselves, and I am one of them. I am sure cooking at home is much better than eating out. Firstly, it is safe. If we eat in a restaurant or a cafe, we do not know exactly how the meal has been cooked. We cannot see the cooking process and what products the meal was made of. Secondly, eating at home is cheaper. All we need is to buy ingredients for the dish. Moreover, the cooking process is really interesting and exciting. On the other hand, some people claim that eating out is more suitable for busy people who do not have enough time to cook at home. It makes sense, but usually cooking a meal does not take much time. Many dishes can be made in half an hour. Furthermore, I think that if a person wants to eat healthy food, he or she must be ready to spend some time cooking at home. Health is much more important than career or business.

The faculty are welcoming and our university has many research-oriented jobs.
Tips: From 2024 onwards, the recession significantly decreased part-time and full-time opportunities, especially in the Automotive domain. Universities have many research-oriented jobs, which are called HIWI, and Erlangen has Schaeffler, Siemens, Adidas, and PUMA companies. The average salary is 12-13 euros per hour which is the minimum wage for internships, for working student jobs it is somewhere between 17-21 euros per hour depending on the company. I did not avail of any scholarships and with an educational loan, I did my blocked account and was able to pay it back in 2 years with my part-time job. Since ours was the first batch I would say I am not completely satisfied with the course however it's improved now. Everyone will experience a different environment and cultural difference.
Likes (Public transportation): With the Deutschland ticket, which is 58 euros per month, with a student discount, I pay 29 euros per month, and it covers almost all kinds of transportation except the ICE, NightJets, and other High-speed trains across Germany. The bus connections across Erlangen and to the university are very good.

Friedrich Alexander University is a wonderful place to study, engage in college activities.
Tips: Before my master's education, I worked at Reliance Industries Limited as an Electrical Reliability Engineer, which provided me with valuable insights into the nuances of Electrical Engineering. Availability of scholarships was difficult since I didn't know about the opportunities. At present, I feel content with my university choice.
Likes (Value for money): Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen is a public University where the semester contribution is nominal, as per the German Education System. The quality of study is excellent and hence the semester contribution is justified. The reason for selecting 5 for value for money is the ratio of educational quality to semester contribution is very high.
Dislikes (Part time work): It has been three months since I joined the university. The current focus area is on studying the concepts and securing excellent grades by grabbing the learning opportunities. The quality of study is excellent at Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen.

Overall good university.
Tips: It’s a research-oriented university. Erlangen is quite an expensive city and finding accommodation is really tough.
It gets quite cold in winter. Finding a work or part time job is not that difficult, so if you intend to do part-time job it’s manageable to live with these expenses.

Great research opportunities
Tips: Visa process and course content for which they are applying and the desired course should cover prerequisites of the course. Always check course requirements. Apply to the university as soon as possible if you want admission. Immediately start looking for accommodation once accepted.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Easy PR process. Minimum 2 years of tax contribution required. After completion of study 18 month work visa can be provided. The salary for post graduate student after completion of course is high. Lower unemployment rate and wide opportunity for professional career.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Not enough Indian origin food options in city. There are 2-3 Indian restaurants which provide all types of Indian food but the price is high. Instead of eating outside, I prefer cooking by myself. Egg is almost in every grocery we buy. So less options for vegans and vegetarians.

Just be prepared for Germany.
Tips: If you are coming for a bachelor's, be prepared to do hard work and match the level of German students. You will be taught a+b, and you will be asked a^3+b^3 in the exam. It is hard to pass the exams without studying, so you have to quit the job at the time of the exam.
