A wholesome place to learn.
Tips: Being an international student here has its own set of challenges and unique experiences. The cost of studying and living here is expensive. There are good academic systems in place here such as office hours, peer tutoring and more. Lots of student events and resources to help with homesickness.

Very interesting classes.
Tips: The city is beautiful, filled with students as well as fellow Indians so there is a sense of familiarity. The research projects are quite thorough and invaluable, but you are expected to know the fundamentals of things before you arrive. The campus culture is quite fun and inclusive and sports here are such a big deal. Chances of staying solely depend on job offers.

Good place for recognition.
Tips: My college experience has been pretty good and Ann Arbour is a great city to have a college life in. Good communities, good culture and things to look forward to. Plenty of diversity on campus as well and the competition is high as well. I received a slight scholarship which helped me save on tuition as well but despite this, the cost of living is pretty high so be prepared.

The faculty is great and the teaching is amazing.
Tips: I think that before coming to this university, everyone should know that this is not a party school. There is not a lot happening. There will be a lot of Arabic people in the university, as Dearborn is an immigrant settlement community. Education, places, everything is related to cars. The faculty is great, the teaching is amazing, and the style of education is great. I believe they provide great insights into the educational and going ahead corporate lifestyle. They provide a lot of projects and have great methods of teaching. There is no public transportation. There are buses, but they run very slowly. There’s also a shared cab service called Flex, but it is expensive, has a long wait time of 30 minutes, and only covers a small area. This is one of the worst aspects of this place.

University of Michigan is multi dimensional with good academics.
Tips: Students should not stress about their studies or other things, as things will happen automatically. Instead, students should be active and explore as many things as they can. There are almost 20 activities offered each week at the college, and students should participate in them all.
Likes (Post study jobs): There are many companies available which are providing visa sponsorship. Students can get good jobs with a good paycheck if they have some domain knowledge and expertise. All sectors are good here to get some good jobs but mainly, automotive and electrical.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The public transportation system at the University of Michigan is not very well connected, and there are very few options available. Students mostly use the college shuttle bus to get to and from campus or go shopping. Other than that, students can't rely on public transportation and have to book a cab, as there is no other option.

Thriving in a diverse and challenging academic environment.
Tips: Students should be prepared for a rigorous academic environment, plenty of extracurricular activities, and a diverse student body. Time management is crucial to balance coursework and activities. The transition was smooth but adapting to Michigan's weather and a more independent, fast-paced academic life required adjustment. The diversity on campus made cultural adaptation easier. I got a teaching assistant position, which covers my tuition completely and offers a generous stipend on top. I'm highly satisfied with the University of Michigan's academic rigour and opportunities. The courses are challenging but rewarding, and the US provides ample avenues for professional growth.
Likes (Public transportation): Ann Arbor is a college town, so the city is built around the campus itself. There are two kinds of buses running throughout the day, one is public buses run by the city, and the second are buses run by the university itself. Both of these are free for students.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fee is on the higher side for the University of Michigan, especially considering that it is a public university. For engineering programs, that fee may be somewhat justified due to the career outcome, but for other programs, it is not at all financially a good decision.

Interesting and one of a kind University.
Tips: It is important to make sure of your safety by being aware about your locality and potential danger owing to the crime rate. My experience has been positive as the locals are friendly and there are student friendly options to explore as well. You should also try to be a part of the communities and campus culture as that can help you further in social engagement.

It truly changed my life for the better
Tips: A very well-balanced university for a range of fields. There are many opportunities to engage with interests outside your main field of study. Great options to save on living costs. If you enjoy a small-town life with pretty much most amenities, Ann Arbor is a great choice.

Loved every bit of my time at this University
Tips: People are very kind and friendly in Ann Arbor. I am very satisfied with the university with the courses provided and the research opportunities available. My suggestion is to try and reach out to professors early so that you can avail the opportunity to participate in research.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Companies willing to sponsor are decreasing gradually for the Automotive field. Opportunities are available in different roles, and compensation is very good and is different from company to company. Compensation is also varied on any previous work experience.

Tips: The faculty and student body are some of the best in the world. The academics and project work have a perfect balance. The cherry on top is that you will find a group of people that have the same interests as you no matter what your hobbies are. The sports are also amazing here.

Weather here will take time adjusting to.
Tips: The winters are too cold and it's not easy at first but you get used to it. I am satisfied with the course and the country. Getting a scholarship for international students is difficult but not impossible. I take care of my rent and food and all the expenses with the part-time job and only need to worry about the college fees.
Likes (Part time work): On campus jobs are always available and are pretty easy to get. And managing part-time depends on the person, but for me, it's been pretty easy.
16 dollars an hour is the pay I get right now. That is pretty reasonable, but the pay really depends on the work.
Dislikes (Internships): There are career fairs happening frequently, and students do get internships through that, but it mainly depends on the student and majorly get internship applying individually but college does help out with the stuff you need. There are relevant internships available for my field of study.

One of the best Robotics Program
Tips: Transition was not very tough but the cold weather was an issue. Since it snows a lot here, the Winters are tough but the environment and the city are very nice and beautiful. It is a college town so it has many culturally diverse restaurants and bars. Scholarships are rare and the tuition fee is very high so make the decision keeping that in mind. I am very satisfied with the university and programme since I have a lot of freedom in course selection and there are many opportunities.
Likes (Student Life): The college has a lot of groups and communities for different affinities and are very welcoming. The college organizes many fun events to meet new students. There is always something happening in campus. You can definitely find something which interests you. Also, there are many restaurants and clubs near the university where you can socialize with others.
Dislikes (Part time work): Most of the part time is dining jobs which is very exhausting but pays enough that you can pay your monthly expenses. You can manage the part-time work with the academics but it can be demanding. The average payout for these jobs is 15 dollars/hr which is the minimum wage of the state Michigan.

4.3
University of Michigan - Academic Oriented and diverse (little expensive)
Tips: Pros:
Community: The campus town is safe and very diverse. Have a great public transport free for university students which connects all parts of town and the university. Transportation: Detroit airport is the nearest airport of 30 minutes drive and has connections to all major destinations in USA along with some flights to India. Academics: The university has excellent faculty and courses among various departments.
Living expenses: Living expenses are reasonable and not too high.
Research: There are some good works happening in various domains with well known faculty members.
Curriculum: Flexible and friendly academic offices.
Cons:
High tuition: Despite being a public university, the tuition is high and the chances of getting a full tuition waiver are low.
CPT: Be aware of the CPT regulations by the university. You have to be a full-time student even if you are doing an internship during the semester. (Co-op) No restrictions for summer internships. Overall it will be a good experience for international students.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants in the locality, near the campus. You can also find many other options such as Thai, Chinese, mexican, Mediterranean. A typical meal costs around $7-11. I would prefer cooking by myself because it saves a lot of money.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are many on campus part time jobs but highly competitive. You need to apply early to get one. It's tough to find an off-campus part time for international students.
Don't be disappointed if you cannot find one immediately after joining, they will be opening even during the semester and there will be part-time openings in academic roles as well like grade and temp, Research assistant. Part time is manageable and flexible with $15-20 hrs a week. Average pay is around $12-17 USD per hour.

UMich is good for research.
Tips: 1. TA/RAship opportunities are very limited for Master's students. But once you get these roles, your tuition fee is excused and you also receive a handsome monthly stipend
2. The tuition fee is quite high compared to other universities
3. College reputation in the field of IC & VLSI (my field) is very high. Recruiters know of this as well
4. College is very good for research opportunities
Likes (Safety): I have not heard of any violent activity. The city is pretty safe to go for walks post-midnights as well. There is a free ride-sharing option for late-night studies provided by the University. The city itself is mostly composed of students so it feels pretty safe to roam around. People are very friendly and seldom rude.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee is considerably high compared to other Master's programs in the US. I recommend taking a look at the tuition structure on the college website. However, you can opt for a payment plan by which you can pay the semester fee in monthly installments for 5 months.

Internships are only permitted on campus with limited opportunities.
Tips: There's a significant cultural shift. People here are more focused on work compared to India. You can get a scholarship with an 8+ CGPA in India. I am likely satisfied. It will take time to adjust, but if you are work-focused and prefer less interaction, this is a great place for you.
Likes (Internships): Internships are only permitted on campus, with limited opportunities. Off-campus work is illegal and results in expulsion. The available campus internships offer decent pay, sufficient to keep you occupied.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Shuttle service is available, but not very reliable, and doesn't stop at reliable locations. Public transportation is not very dependable, so it's advisable to purchase private transportation, perhaps a used car. Be prepared to invest in a car, or rent one, but rental rates are high.

Tips: For students moving here there will be a cultural shift for sure.
It is smart to get referrals for on-campus jobs, as they are limited. Try staying Bridgeport area, as it is affordable and safe. Chicago is one of the best cities in the US, you will get to a lot of networking events outside the university which can help you in many ways.

One of the most Amazing Experiences.
Tips: There's definitely a cultural shift. I personally loved the new country/city/university challenge and was up for all the tasks ahead. Find good friends/roommates who will guide you and help you in your transition. Don't hesitate to change your accommodation if not suitable for your academic preference. I didn't avail of any scholarships because I wasn't aware of any. There are different undergrad and graduate school scholarships available so do your research. I can say that I am somewhat satisfied with the course/university. Definitely would have liked a cheaper college but I suppose I did the best I could with the scores. Chicago is a beautiful city. The summers are short but pleasant, winters are long and the city is covered in snow for almost 3 months so definitely extreme weather conditions will take some time to get used to but it is undeniably beautiful. Some parts of the city are not safe and generally, you will be aware of those with research. Try to avoid those areas and don't wander alone at night. Everything will be great. Good luck to whoever reading this for your future.
Likes (Public transportation): Chicago has one of the best public transportation systems with frequent trains and buses even during night times. It is super affordable as semester passes are generally provided by the university as part of your tuition fees. Public transportation runs in all weather (even in heavy snow and rain).
Dislikes (Part time work): On campus part time jobs are available but very limited. Usually, you get them through connections. 100s apply but a chosen few are selected. Very much depends on the particular facility you are applying for. Personally, I applied but never got any. It is definitely manageable. Sometimes you will have to do weekend shifts or work late at night but the campus provides late-night drop offs. Pay is generally minimum wage in the state (usually $12/hr - $14/hr).

Great faculty and a diverse student life.
Tips: Students will know all of the clubs and opportunities. The university has strong connections that help its students. The faculty and students are also so supportive of each other. They have some standout teachers who have been involved with their students and have helped them grow professionally. I am quite satisfied with my experience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I like the college because there is no sexism or racism there. The college has many clubs, which allow students to interact with other departments. The college is also recognised for its research, as well as the importance of collaboration and communication between individuals and organisations in the workplace.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The faculty provides good orientation, which helps students to know about the career opportunities. I hope everyone will find good opportunities in tech with engineering skills and experience to help them achieve their goals and achieve their dreams.

Tips: Scholarships are available at the university, and I got my scholarship from my marks or entrance test for college admission. My college days are spent in the lecture hall or doing assignments with my friends or studying with my friends or teachers. There's so much support for student learning and achievement.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee is justified because the faculty are well experienced and explain everything in a simple way. The faculty are good at supporting the students and they treat them like their own children. You should not feel lonely at the college, and the students are very innocent.

Illinois Institute of technology has an academic oriented approach.
Tips: Before joining IIT students should be prepared for a rigorous academic program, a smaller campus community and life in Chicago with its opportunities and challenges, including harsh winters. Transitioning to IIT involves adapting to the American teaching style, independent living and cultural differences. Scholarships, like the Residential Scholarship, often help with tuition but rarely cover living expenses. IIT is academically rewarding but must adjust to the cultural and lifestyle changes in the U.S.
