You will be a different person after you graduate if you plan your goals ahead.
Tips: You will definitely get cultural socks. It's nothing you can't handle. I unfortunately didn't apply for scholarships. My course academically was very generic, but I gained other social skills. If applying for the University of Reading, I would recommend a bachelor's or master's in finance, as Reading is known for its course in finance.
Likes (Quality of faculty): All professors are very friendly; they guide you if you are stuck. Teaching is very professional at the same time very casual; everyone is approachable. Faculty can be diverse, depending on the modules. All the abovementioned will only work if you are interactive and you are willing to speak up. No faculty will come to you and ask unless you approach.
Dislikes (Internships): A lot of guidance is available, and job/internship failures are conducted every now and then. You need to be very patient and need to put in a lot of effort to show uniqueness while applying for a job or internship. Yes, available internships were relevant to my study, as my course can include different industries.

A Welcoming University with Strong Academics and Global Exposure
Tips: Before coming to Reading, you should definitely be ready for how much independent study there is. Nobody’s going to hold your hand, so you really have to stay on top of your own time, especially when it comes to the research stuff and assignments. My transition was not too bad overall but the culture shock at the start was real. The classes here are way more focused on critical thinking than what I was used to back home.
Socially, it took me a minute to find my feet, but getting involved in a few uni clubs made a massive difference for making friends. I did look into their scholarships during the application process—they’re mostly based on your grades, and if you get one, it usually just knocks a bit off your tuition, which definitely helps. Honestly, I’m really glad I came. The campus has a great vibe, the tutors are actually supportive, and just living in the UK gives you a ton of perspective. Keeping up with expenses is definitely a struggle, but the whole experience has been 100% worth it.

The university performs strongly academically and has a good student life.
Tips: Reading is 45 minutes away from Heathrow airport and 25 minutes from London Paddington. Henley Business School ranks in the top 10 in the UK. Accommodation ranges from 160-375 PW. 93% of HBS students are employed or pursuing further education post-graduation. International tuition fees range between 25000 and 33000 pa depending on the course. 5000+ international students from 160+ countries.
Likes (Public transportation): For prospective students, the main buses needed for transportation in and out of the university will be the 20 and 21 buses, with the 20 acting as a fast-track bus, allowing you to get to university faster and both buses can be taken from the Reading Station upon arrival. The main way to buy tickets will be either by paying contactless on the hop-on-hop off system or by downloading the Reading buses app and buying tickets; if you add your ID on the app, it should allow you access to pay student prices on the app. Usually, an all-day ticket will cost approximately 5 and allows you to get into any buses in the Reading buses network.
Dislikes (Value for money): As a home-paying fee student 9250 PA, I believe the price I pay for the course is justified as it gives me the opportunities and access to build a network, build new skills through writing essays and conducting presentations throughout my assignments and collaborate with a diverse range of people and also gain work experiences via the university's internship scheme and working in the student union.

A life changing decision
Tips: Honestly, the whole experience just shifted my entire outlook. It changed how I look at different industries, sure, but it also made me way more level-headed in how I handle things now. I feel like a completely different person than when I started, and I’m actually really proud of that growth. If you get the chance to do this, you should 100% go for it. xox
Likes (Safety): You’ve got CCTV pretty much all over campus, so walking around never really feels sketchy. Even the area just outside is monitored, which definitely helps you feel more at ease. Honestly, the city as a whole is just incredibly safe and even if you're heading home late at night, you never really get that feeling like you need to keep looking over your shoulder.
Dislikes (Internships): The placement cell helps their best to get internship bit for masters sometimes it gets difficult as you get very less time to apply,
But for bachelor’s the support is satisfactory and I have seen majorly everyone getting internship during their bachelorette

Peaceful, exciting yet academically rigorous.
Tips: The major cultural shock was the cold; eventually, people will get used to it. If you have zero skills in cooking my advice is to learn cooking, as ordering online or eating out makes a hole in your wallet. I received a scholarship of 10,000 pounds however there are multiple fully funded scholarships available and I would definitely recommend going through them like Felix Scholarship, Chevning Scholarship, etc. I am 100 percent satisfied with the university however it is 20 minutes from London so if someone really wants to live in the hustle and fast pace environment, I would not recommend this university.
Likes (Public transportation): For our university there is a dedicated bus service which operates 24hours, not only this, but the bus service also has a dedicated bus stop inside the university for easy commute. Affordability is amazing as the university is planning to become net carbon zero so they promote bus services for students and provide bus tickets at a lower price for university students.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): If you look at the chances to settle in the country there are many ways to do so like finding a sponsor, Innovative founder visa for new startups which can contribute to the ecosystem, self sponsorship for someone who wants to set up a business there are multiple routes through which one can find permanent settlement however all these routes are extremely competitive and only the best out of rest can make a good use of it. Looking at it through a political lens tells a very different story, as the new amendments to immigration rules and regulations are still under discussion, and obtaining ILR remains a challenge. There is still an ambiguity whether these will remain the same or it will become impossible for immigrants to settle in the UK. Given a chance to permanently settle in would rather say yes.

Friendly and engaging university.
Tips: Mainly, if you follow the process and instructions, everything will be fine, and self-analysis and approach are important in learning new cultures, and the approach towards study is important. Networking plays an important role abroad; you need to make friends, meet new people and interact with them in terms of any help or opportunities. There is a help desk and friendly staff are there to guide you if you have any queries.
Likes (Student Life): College life was much more engaging and interactive; you get enough time to submit your projects and engage in other cultural activities or clubs and other events but securing a job is tough; it entirely depends on your hard work and self-study and personal projects. There is inclusion and it's a big campus and you can able to access the student library and all software mostly for free and you find all types of food and people from different races as well and friendly too.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Move to the UK if you have enough experience in your current field, maybe around 5 years, if you are planning to study for a master's or want to get PR in the UK. Be skilful and be open-minded to learn new things and networking plays an important role in reaching out to companies' people as much as you can to get a sponsorship role. As there are new laws coming up in 2026 so be prepared to approach it strategically.

Tips: First, understand what you are going to study, so please look for all the modules in the course. Look for scholarships; there are plenty that you can avail yourself of based on qualifications. I am very satisfied. My faculty is very nice with proper understanding and lab practices.
Likes (Safety): Health and safety are top priorities in the UK, so everywhere, whether it's your class, accommodation or your workplace, they always take care of health and safety as a top priority. Even though it's safe to roam around at any time, there is a club on campus, so it is not required to go out to have fun.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Do not depend on the college. They will not help you with jobs. You need to work hard and find jobs in the current market. It's hard to find a job in your post-study work visa programme, which brings a challenge for individuals, as you need to get a job with a visa as well.

Welcoming, diverse and a fun student space.
Tips: Transition to UOR was super smooth, though there was a cultural difference for sure but the university hosted a lot of events and get togethers that made the university life sorted and very less hectic.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very appreciative, approachable and always answers questions and have a willingness to come up with new concepts and content in every other lecture, plus it is quite a diverse faculty as well so you don't feel overwhelmed and left out.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I rated 3 because while the UK has a lot of opportunities, staying back is very skill and course dependent. NHS and other skill shortage courses only gives settlements. In marketing, that is really less. Jobs are still there but very less sponsored jobs.

Tips: Students should consider whether they can secure a job after graduation. Knowing a European language is a plus point. Check for the scholarship and find any universities offering it, and also the fees, whether it is the same everywhere. Also, investigate placement assistance and the campus environment.
Likes (Quality of faculty): They are nice and approachable. They make sure to understand us, guiding us in all aspects, and they did a very good job with the practicals. Though the British accent is tough to understand for Indians, they will use the tone, which can be easily understood by everyone.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Due to the recession in the UK, only a few companies are offering sponsorships. Packages are generally around 35,000, which is not enough for sponsorship. Keep this in mind if you plan to settle in the UK, as nationality and visa issues can sometimes be a problem.

Tips: Be more open to new environments, cultures, and academic styles. Joining different clubs can make the transition easier.

The structure for the course is good but I wish it included more practical work throughout course.
Likes (Indian Food): Lot of options for Indian food, and Indian grocery stores are also available within a reasonable distance. Many restaurants offer Indian food and are also suitable for vegetarians. I was also lucky enough to be able to do part-time in an Indian restaurant as part of the front office.
Dislikes (Internships): Although the university publishes opportunities that are available for students, they are most often not for master’s students and very less opportunities for overseas students. And as an international student, you will not be able to apply for internships due to work permit restrictions.

Tips: I have become a more responsible person once I reached here. In terms of knowledge, I can say I have gained practical experience in different domains which were new to me. I did get a scholarship of 3000 pounds and that was based on my IELTS score and I can say I am fully satisfied with it.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is quite approachable. They give out their time when the students can actually go out to them and ask queries. Diversity in teaching style and methodology is present as various methods are taught for the same subject and it enhances our knowledge.
Dislikes (Internships): In terms of applying for the internships, the help is given by the university. Also Reading being closer to London gives the opportunity to apply for jobs in a wider range of companies and in various domains. Some internships are indeed present in the field of study.

Hardships of the International students in the UK.
Tips: Coming to the UK at this time of recession and spending so much money on university fees is not so worth it. But if money is not a factor for you to worry about and you want to learn more then UOR is great. If you are lucky you might get a job by trying hard. But then the salaries they offer you might not be enough for your monthly survival or what we at least expect to get after completing a degree and spending tons of money.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It is not so easy to find a suitable job in the UK as a graduate even for an entry-level job they expect you to have experience for 3 years and if you find a job then you will need a sponsorship from this company to stay here which is another big challenge.

Genuine Review of my experience
Tips: You can expect the best possible university experience. But you should be prepared to work hard and be independent and self-reliant. Friendly atmosphere, great faculty, excellent laboratory equipment, Great Modules, top class Library, workshops and practical work.
Likes (Public transportation): Public Transportation in Reading is superb. Cheap and readily available. 24/7 bus service to all parts of reading town. There is a bus which will directly take you to the Campus. You will get a bus every 15 minds. You can get bus pass for a week or monthly at affordable price.
Dislikes (Internships): The are guidance available. But there is no placement cell for my department. There are no internships available for students who passed out. That's one issue. We often get job and career fares, but they mostly help us to interact with people from different companies. But they don't really hire you.

Pursuing a Master's in Microelectronics and Chip Design at TU MUNICH
Tips: Finding permanent accommodation can be tough around here in Munich. People are polite, but interacting into the community takes a semester or two. The course and the university feel great overall. Germany is quite different from India and takes time to settle in and get used to.
Likes (Indian Food): The number of Indian, Asian, and Italian restaurants are plenty in all of Munich, and they cost 5 to 20 Euros each. Should you enjoy dining out as opposed to cooking, then the cost will be between 8 and 20 or 30 Euros depending on the type of food. You will also find some Asian, Indian, and African shops; you do not have to pack dry masalas and culinary spices since you will find most of them here.
Dislikes (Value for money): Yes, I think a university chip tape-out opportunity is rare, and pursuing advanced subjects with industry experts is also a strong value-add. The material updates every year, so you're almost always learning the latest technology.

Overall the academics and professors are really good.
Tips: It was pretty standard for me, as I had done my Bachelor's in Germany as well. No scholarships were needed, as I was exempt from the tuition fees because I had completed my Bachelor's in Germany. Yes, I am pretty satisfied with the university academically, the topics covered are really relevant and give you the best shot at expanding the frontier and conducting further research.
Likes (Indian Food): Mostly cook on my own, and in Munich you can find all kinds of restaurants. The average price would be around 15-20 euros. My favourite places personally are the ones near the Isartor station (connected by the S-Bahn). One can find a lot of great places to eat there.
Dislikes (Student Life): We have a wide variety of clubs/communities for a lot of varied interests. The coursework is pretty good, but it can get a bit hectic towards the end of the semester. Student life is great in Munich, there are a lot of good sightseeing spots at the intersection of southern Munich, Austria, and Switzerland. The best part about the Master's is that there are no compulsory modules, we can freely customise the courses according to one's interests.

Things to know before joining TUM
Tips: Yes. There wasn't much of a cultural shock for me. The people were friendly. Yes, I applied for a scholarship where I do not have to pay fees. I am so satisfied because it is one of the top universities in Germany, and it has a very good reputation.
Likes (Internships): There are a lot of internships relevant to study. You can meet the respected professors and just email them. If they are free, they are ready to supervise you. Make sure you apply for internships that you like, and please apply carefully because it has a major impact on whatever job you do.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I am living on a different campus than in Munich. So there is only one restaurant here. But there are a lot of options in Munich. I prefer cooking myself. It kind of saves money. Groceries are expensive, and eating out as well. I do enjoy exploring asian cuisines as well.

TUM: An amazing university that offers great learning experience.
Tips: Learn at least B1 level of German, even though your course is in English - Scholarship opportunities are mostly limited to students with some German skills, but there are a few that don't require German skills. Do good research in this area. - I really enjoyed being at TUM. It has an amazing culture and research environment. If given a chance, I'll do it all over again.
Likes (Internships): There are a lot of internship-related opportunities in and out of TUM. CSE doesn't have a mandatory internship, but if somebody wants to do one, they get sufficient support from the course coordinators. Focus on building a strong network with PhDs and professionals to get good internship opportunities.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): You don't need sponsorship to work in Germany. However, the rank of a university doesn't have a lot of impact on job applications. Apart from TUM Career-related initiatives and some job fairs, students don't get any direct support in their job search.

Life of a Masters student at TUM
Tips: It is not at all easy. The university atmosphere is highly competitive and stressful. It is a very entrepreneurial university, which means a lot of options for startup founders emerge. Multiple Hackathons and other events and clubs make the university very favourable but also very overwhelming.
Likes (Safety): Even during large student events and parties, there is maximum security to ensure safety. The overall campus environment is very calm and safe, even late at night, and in general it is covered by campus security as well as other police professionals to avoid any issues.
Dislikes (Internships): Suitable internship options are available in large numbers, and applications are approved by the faculty. With a huge number of options, multiple fields such as simulation, production engineering, and electrical and mechanical engineering are covered, which provide strong industrial experience.

A short overview of life at TUM
Tips: They should know that TUM has its own standards and that it is going to be hard, so be ready when your first-semester grades are a disaster. I did not apply for the Deutschlandstipendium as I got a working student job in my first semester, but my friends got it, and I would highly recommend it. I am very satisfied, and I would absolutely recommend that students consider TUM as an option.
Likes (Student Life): Go to university, meet my friends, then have lunch at Mensa, and then we all sit down and have coffee. During exam season, we have group-based study sessions that help us work together more effectively. I founded the Cybersecurity club at a different branch of TUM, so I was involved there. Also, the student council keeps organizing multiple events, which makes it easier.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Deutsche Bahn is always late due to worker strikes and weather-related disruptions. So, it cannot be trusted, but still, because of the Deutschland Ticket, it is good. Also, with that ticket, you can travel within or near the borders of different countries. Right now, I pay 43 euros because it is a student fare, and I use public transport daily.

TUM: offers top notch education and opportunities but you need to know how to grab them
Tips: You need to be proactive and make efforts to learn the course content and also make connections to land an internship and a future job. The transition to the culture, location, and systems was tough but still manageable. Much more self-study and practice is required to pass courses, as the grade depends completely on the final exam in most courses. The fees for my course were only 150u20ac per semester, but current students need to pay 6000u20ac. I am extremely satisfied with my university and the career opportunities it gave me, as well as Germany in general.

Academic experience in German public university
Tips: Overall, a good academic experience, but students should be prepared about the cultural difference and language barriers. Managing their finance independent and studying is also important. I didn't apply for any scholarships. I am really satisfied with my course and university life.
Likes (Internships): The university is providing internships for students. Students can also apply for internships at companies that match their academic background. Sometimes there are obligations, such as voluntary internships that should be completed within 2 or 3 semesters.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Finding a suitable job after studies is very challenging. You need to find a job that matches your qualifications to get a visa after your studies. Also, the permanent residence process can be lengthy and involves several requirements like language, a job contact, etc. Yes, I would like to immigrate permanently to Germany if given the opportunity.

A lot of opportunities so the competition.
Tips: You have to be flexible to align with a new culture, and balancing your academics and part-time job is not easy. Nowadays, finding part times are also getting difficult, but with a consistent mindset, you can earn one. Indeed, Xing and similar websites/apps can be very helpful in finding jobs.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are highly educated and talented and would help us with everything. They share their intellectual property and ideas with us and treat us without any discrimination. Quality faculty can help us academically, but getting a job after the course, they can’t do anything.
Dislikes (Internships): There are a lot of internship opportunities, but getting one is highly competitive, and you have to apply for a lot to get into one. Nowadays, the competition is among Indian students because we have a minimum of bachelor's degrees, English knowledge, and a good IT background, which makes us a good choice for companies, but there are a lot!!

Worth the Effort, Great Education and Opportunities in Munich
Tips:
Getting used to life here may require some time, particularly on a social level. Germany, and Bavaria in particular, is a rather traditional country where people are private, reserved and distant. It is not very easy to make friends with locals (particularly in the winter months). However, I studied in Munich, which houses 3 universities. Therefore, there are many new international students each semester who can attend different student events, network, and get involved in cultural activities. Thus, there are opportunities to make friends, but of course, it requires effort. 1. There is a clear cultural change: people are reserved and private. But after having become fluent in the language and familiarising myself with the local culture, everything became much easier. People, both locals and other students, became more approachable and friendly, which helped a lot in both my personal and professional life. 2. Yes, I got the Deutschlandstipendium for the whole period of my studies, which gives u20ac300 per month. An additional advantage was that there were no extra expenses connected with the application for a visa extension. The funding is provided by the government. There is no fixed criterion, and it helps students who have hardships, are refugees, etc. I got it for academic and volunteering achievements over the years. 3. Very satisfied; the most difficult and time-consuming thing is learning the language, but when I became fluent in it, a lot of opportunities opened up for me. People became totally different; I became friends with locals, got job offers and immediately found my home. From my experience, proficiency in the language is the key to success, particularly in civil engineering. Though there are opportunities for English speakers, any student who wants to study and work here should consider the language issue. This helps a lot with Career prospects and Quality of life.
Likes (Value for money):
The financial investment in my studies was very low: 0 tuition fees (only a semester contribution of 136 euros). There are also plenty of government-funded scholarships. I feel it is worth the money because of the high academic standards, career prospects after graduation and little financial burden.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration):
After completing my Master's, I was able to start working in the same field as my studies, which made me eligible for the EU Blue Card. The process was smooth and remarkably fast. Regarding the permanent immigration question, I have now learned the language, work full-time, and am integrated well into society, and, based on how things are progressing, I see myself realistically doing so in the coming years.

Tips: The exam pattern and way of teaching are different from those in India. More practical way of learning. I got the Deutschlandstipendium for 2 years. The criteria to get this scholarship are marks plus social commitment (highly competetive in TUM). I am happy with the course, university and country.
Likes (Safety): I am not aware of the facilities provided to ensure students' safety, but there will be many, for sure. I never felt unsafe here. I have only had good experiences in Munich city so far. There were days when I used to reach my room after 3 am, but I never felt unsafe. Public transportation is also reliable and safe even during odd hours.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus part-time jobs are available but highly competitive and pay less. More money can be earned by doing off-campus jobs, which are easy to find. Managing part-time work along with studies and other household chores is difficult, but doable. 13 euros per hour is the average, I think.

TUM provides the students with the right faculty and equipment for a successful career.
Tips: There is a bit of cultural shock because German society is very structured. Public cleanliness is a must, and in Munich, everything closes at 8. At TUM, tuition fees do not exist. We only pay the student union fees and a monthly subscription for public transport that is valid across Germany. In that case, it’s an extremely kind and easy place to immigrate into. TUM is an extremely fun yet stressful environment. There’s little room for excuses and understanding. However, it gives you the best professors and equipment to aid in any academic career you may want.
Likes (Public transportation): There are several buses and a U-Bahn (metro) station exclusively for the campus that I attend in Garching. Most public transport runs at 10-minute intervals and is mostly on time. The entire city is well connected, and with the Deutschland Ticket subscription you can even travel nation-wide, which is worth every cent.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I have permanent residency in the country because of time. I’ve been here for most of my life. However, for other people, I have found integration into German culture difficult. A high level of grasp of German, education and job security are required to successfully immigrate to Germany.

Academically challenging but rewarding
Tips: Learn the language and take the effort to integrate, overall, a great experience academically and otherwise. If you are from a place where there is cultural discrimination against women or others, leave it at home before you come out, its honesty pretty gross.
Likes (Post study jobs): Lots of chances in Munich to do internships, and then you can try whatever you want and then at the end, choose, there are a tonne of huge companies in the city and in the surrounding region. This gives you the chance to actually compete for a lot of positions.
Dislikes (Student Life): Student life is pretty much non-existent, but outside of campus you can have a good time. There are a lot of student clubs that you can join, and that's honestly pretty nice, but normally at university you won't have the classic Indian hostel experience.

What should people know if you want to join TUM
Tips: It's academically demanding, even for management and technology students. I have lived here for around 11 years now, so I never had a culture shift. There are scholarships for high-performing students, like the Deutschlandstipendium, etc. The university is good; it opens a lot of opportunities and is very reputed everywhere. However, they have introduced international tuition fees, so if anyone is interested in joining, they must really think about it.
Likes (Public transportation): TUM is in central Munich with many different public transport options, including buses, underground trains, and trams. You have the Deutschlandticket, which you can use for public regional transportation all over Germany for around 40 euros a month.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It's hard to grow in this country starting as a junior employee if you don't speak German and are not German. I have heard from many people that the office politics is hard to navigate. I myself are planning on moving out for a master's or for employment in the future. Its great to study here since the education is almost free, many part time employment options, and can find working student positions or internships to kick start the career.

Studying, having fun, struggles and personal growth at TU Munich
Tips: If you are coming to Germany, please have in mind that you will need to learn German. It is not just important for jobs, but also to feel more integrated and less out of place. This is the most important thing, and you should treat learning German as being as important as your course itself. I worked as a student assistant with a professor on a project, and such jobs are common. You can also get student jobs in corporations or work in bartending and restaurants to get by. However, you should try to get a student job or internship in companies where you want to work, as there are greater chances of covering that to a full-time role after graduation. I am overall pretty satisfied with the university and my course as well as with Germany. It is challenging in the beginning with the language, foreigners' office bureaucracy, and housing headaches, but if one sees that through and focuses on learning the language. Life gets easier. Plus, working conditions post-graduation are good, and you can become a permanent resident relatively soon if you know B1 German and have a Blue Card for employment for 2 years.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty in my course were top-notch. They generally teach what they are searching/have researched, and so have a good command of their material. The teaching style here is generally quite interactive, with classroom discussions being common, and you can approach faculty in our department for questions, generally without hesitation. They are also relatively diverse, we had instructors from Lebanon, South Korea, India, the USA, and all over Europe.
Dislikes (Student Life): TUM is a very decentralised university, so studies are broadly student-driven and people try to balance part-time work and studies. Also, there is no campus to speak of, the university is basically multiple building blocks spread over a few streets. So basically, socialisation is limited in Universities. Where most of the socialisation happens is actually the student dormitories, which are spread all over Munich, where you live with people from all over the world and have a lot of fun parties. But getting a room there generally requires a waiting period of about a year. Thus, students generally struggle to find accommodation in the first year when they are most unaware of the systems, language and culture in Germany. This housing situation is the most challenging part of studying at TUM, and one needs to put in extra effort soon after you decide to come here to secure accommodation for at least a year, while applying to be on the list for student dorms.

Good Education, Tough Job Market.
Tips: The transition was difficult at first. Adapting to an independent lifestyle, a new academic system, and a language took time. Finding accommodation was the biggest challenge, but I was glad to get a dorm later. I did not avail of any scholarship. I'm quite satisfied with my university, course, and country. TUM offers good academic exposure, and Germany provides good opportunities if you have strong German language skills and relevant experience. The job market is currently challenging, though.
Likes (Value for money): Value for money still gets a full 5/5 from me, even with Munich’s notoriously high rent and TUM’s non-EU tuition fees. You're paying more than at other German universities, but the return on investment is massive. The network here is unreal—direct links to giants like BMW, Siemens, and tech startups mean you get top-tier working student (Werkstudent) roles while studying. Combined with world-class campus facilities and instant global brand recognition on your resume, every euro spent feels justified.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Getting a job (including Werkstudent) mostly depends on your German language skills; B2 is the minimum for my field. University reputation does not guarantee a job. There is also no direct campus placement system like in India, so students need to apply independent. Having relevant work experience can help a bit.
