A technical University with focus on Marine and ship for any specialization
Tips: Come fully prepared and well-researched about the course and opportunities. Learn German before coming here, this would help a lot. Have your niche, work on it, and most importantly, enjoy things. Better if you come with prior experience; this would help in getting opportunity more easily.

Uni Rostock College Review
Tips: German language is necessary. I haven't had any internship, And I also have very few friends eventually ended up having internships. But anyone can try their luck. I suggest my university is pretty okay. But my course with a mechanical background is pretty useless for real world.

The quiet yet wonderful life on the sea
Tips: The initial few months are hard: the language shift, the academics, we are not really used to studying in this manner. I unfortunate did not avail any scholarships. However, one tip I would give is to learn the German language to at least B2. The courses are excellent, very up to date, they will speak to your interests, and you have a lot of flexibility in the specializations you can potentially do.
Likes (Public transportation): It is the best. The place is interconnected, and everything is always walkable. The city is small but very touristy, a lot of people visit in summer. So the city is beautiful as well. You get transportation from the university as soon as you are enrolled in one.
Dislikes (Internships): In Northern Germany, there is an overall lack of internships. You need a lot of networking skills as well as a command of the language in Order to stand a chance at even being eligible for internships. Relevant internships generally are available, but as I said difficult to find.

Your life at University of Rostock
Tips: Even if your course is in English, learn German. Try to become more social and become more acquainted with the culture. Keep your life academically and socially balanced. If you are able to score well in the first 1-2 semesters, apply for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship, which will pay you 300 euros every month. I am quite satisfied with the course, as there are many electives to choose from to develop your skills holistically.
Likes (Public transportation): You get the Deutschlandticket as part of your semester ticket, so all local and regional transportation is free for you throughout Germany. In Rostock, we have trains, trams, buses, as well as ferries, which operate throughout the city as well as nearby towns.
Dislikes (Internships): As the city of Rostock is not located near big cities, to find internships you need to move or relocate to different locations where the companies are, which is not feasible before you have completed 2-3 semesters. There are many good, relevant internships available, but you need to apply for that in whole of Germany.

A great opportunity to study in Germany.
Tips: I did not receive any scholarship. I am very satisfied with my university and course. The faculty is very approachable and talented. Many interesting courses are offered to students. I did not stay in a student dormitory. That's why I had to pay more rent for a home in the city.
Likes (Public transportation): All the campuses are very well connected to different sections of the city. People can use trams, buses and S-bahns throughout the country with the Deutschland ticket. This ticket is available to all students every semester, after successful enrollment for the semester. The price of the ticket is already included in the semester fees.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are very few restaurants that offer Indian food. Also, the food does not taste like authentic Indian food. There are a few vegetarian and vegan options. I prefer cooking myself to eating outside. You can find a couple of stores that sell Indian food products.

Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members are always very friendly. The teachers motivate us to experiment with something new. They teach using different methods such as lectures, practical classes, project work, assignments, discussions, among other forms. While most of the faculty come from Germany, there are a few faculty members from other parts of the world.

Things to know about The University of Rostock
Tips: CSI course: Students are allowed to choose the courses they want to take each semester. It is best to look at the mandatory courses to take for your degree. There are multiple moral exams possible that last 20-30 minutes, which doesn't happen in India for final exams.
Likes (Safety): Rostock is a small town and hence, mostly, safe compared to other bigger cities like Berlin/Hamburg. People usually mind their own business, and nobody really cares what you do unless you are really misbehaving. It is not rare to find nice people, especially because there are a lot of students near the campus.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Knowing the language here plays a vital role in securing any job (even IT). Sometimes people don't get full-time jobs after graduation, and they end up starting another master's degree or doing a PhD just to save their residency status. The working student part-time jobs are limited only as long as you are a student.

Student life is good but after graduation the life gets difficult until getting a full time job.
Tips: Students should be prepared for independent learning. German language skills are very important not just for daily life but for job opportunities as well. The exams are mostly oral, so be prepared to read in and out of the subjects, the education system is entirely different from the Indian education system. Getting a scholarship is difficult but not impossible, I didn't avail a scholarship.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transportation is good here and is included in the University Fees. But the only problem is with the timings, they are never on time. It is well connected to big cities, but when it comes to smaller cities, the transportation is very limited.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Post-Study Job Prospects have been rated at 2/5 due to my own experience that obtaining full-time jobs after completing studies is not an easy task. My fellow students find it really difficult to obtain full-time jobs despite having good academic and technical profiles.

Academically Strong University with a Beautiful Campus and Affordable Study at a Public University
Tips: Before joining, students should be clear about why they are coming. The university courses are very good, the campus is beautiful, and you will make many good connections. There will definitely be a cultural shift, but it is part of the process. Since it is a public university, the semester contribution is very affordable. If you are genuinely interested in the course you have chosen, you don't need to worry much about other things. A few basic tips will still help: learn basic German early, since it makes daily life and part-time job hunting much easier, and arrange your accommodation well in advance, because housing in a small town can fill up quickly, and bring warm clothes if you are joining in the winter semester, as winters in Ilmenau can be cold.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Upon completion of your studies and after finding a job, you may apply for a work visa or an EU Blue Card that will provide a very clear pathway to allow you to live and work in Germany. Within several years of having worked in qualifying jobs, you will then be able to apply for permanent residency. You may also qualify for citizenship in the future. There are, however, certain requirements to consider.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Ilmenau is a small town, so the campus is well connected, and most places are within walking distance. Buses run until late in the evening, and the Deutschlandticket is included in the semester contribution, which makes it very affordable. However, service is limited compared to bigger cities: trains leave only twice an hour if you want to go out of the city, and bus frequency drops at night. That is why I rated it an average rather than higher.

My 2 cents for aspiring students looking to study in Thuringen
Tips: TU Ilmenau gives you a better education and experience than many universities. The student body is very diverse, there's a lot of events that take place throughout the academic year - festivals, music events like raves, sports facilities, nature activities like hiking, swimming, etc. I'd request all aspiring students to read the news and understand things outside of academics as well. Focus on making international friends, focus on integration, don't stick to people form tour community back home, be empathetic, develop emotional intelligence, don't discriminate, learn your rights.
Likes (Student Life): I had mang international and german friends, I was part of kolllectives and always had some activity to do. The community was great in Ilmenau. I had a great time in Ilmenau because of my multicultural friend group(s). I knew a lot of people in university, so getting help or assistance was easy. Making spontaneous plans was easy, it's a small town, so people assume there's not much you can do, but there's a lot to see. I went hiking, played basketball, football, volleyball, swimming, etc. There are also corporate events that take place now and then. There are student organisations like Stura, we4you, MFK, and student clubs that you can be part of. I'm very thankful for the community.
Dislikes (Safety): There have been attacks on students and other occurrences during my time. There are news articles as well. Additionally, Ilmenau has a rather right-wing populace who have an anti immigration stance. Racism and xenophobia are common occurrences in the town.

TU Ilmenau, Germany, Msc Communications and Signal Processing
Tips: It's a small and beautiful town, but if you want big-city hustle, don't come here. If you don't want to learn German and want to work in Germany, it's a dream that might not come true. Because it's a small town, you have to speak German for day-to-day things. The cost is very low, but not too much to do in the town, as the town is very small with just ~28k population, and out of that, 4K are students, and the rest are old people. All the fun is inside the campus, there is not much outside.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty at the university is very good and interactive. Professors and supervisors are humble and offer opportunities if one has potential. DON'T PUT BARRIERS IF NECESSARY INFO IS PROVIDED IN A FEW LINES, THEN THAT'S IT. DON'T PUT BARRIERS IF NECESSARY INFO IS PROVIDED.
Dislikes (Internships): The course I studied has no mandatory internship. Germany has a higher rate of internships offered to students in courses that have mandatory internships. This is not based on the university but on the course and country. DON'T PUT BARRIERS, IF NECESSARY INFORMATION IS PROVIDED IN A FEW LINES, THEN THAT'S IT.

TU Ilmenau - Affordable and with a Major Desi Community.
Tips: Transition is easy, as there is a major sub-continent's 'desi' community at the college. You won't face a major cultural shift and would find a nearby Indian shop carrying most spices and Indian stuff as well. As for scholarships, the college offers a 500u20ac semester grant. Since there is no education fee, that grant covers a student's major expenses. The university is nice, and the course is really tough, so be prepared to fail and to work hard to succeed. You can study at your own pace, whatever subjects you like, but be sure to target at least 20 credits a semester. Getting stuck into work or part-time could easily lead to failing the course and losing your student visa unless you find another course/university to join. I personally covered most of my major coursework before looking and starting at my current Werkstudent position. Overall, college is nice, really affordable and a course that does help a lot. But be prepared to look for work, and the time it would take to get a job in the current economy. One major, and very important thing, please learn the German Language to at least conversational B2 before coming to Germany. You can manage in English, but you will need German to actually be able to live.
Likes (Safety): Quite a small town, and extremely safe. You'll be able to move around places, and people are more than welcoming, as most know that it's a major University area. You might face issues with the language barrier if you don't know at least B2 conversational German. So try to ensure you have that at least.
Dislikes (Student Life): Decent college life, but college is in a small town, rather, it's a college town with nearly half the population being students. There are no movie theatres, malls, clubs or any places for recreational activities. You'll most likely be travelling to other places for fun. Outdoor stuff would be fine, like hiking, but college events are not something to write home about. Only the college fest in June is the best part of the year.

Nice small town university
Tips: It's a small university town. A lot fewer people than the big city university has. It is good; courses are challenging compared to India's, and you have to work hard. Tuition fees are lower, and you have the Deutschland ticket, so you can travel in public transport for free in all of Germany. Plus, small towns have less expensive accommodation; it is cheap, with lots of Indian students and diverse students. Lots of activities to do. Culture is really good.
Likes (Value for money): Tuition fees are lower, and you have the Deutschland ticket, so you can travel in public transport for free in all of Germany. Plus, small towns have less expensive accommodation; it is cheap, with lots of Indian students and diverse students. Lots of activities to do. Culture is really good.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's a very small town, so part-time jobs are fewer. Plus, you need basic German language knowledge to get a part-time job. You can also travel 1 hour to the nearby city of Erfurt for a part-time job; there you also need basic German language knowledge. And traveling is hectic.

My 4.6-Year Life at TU Ilmenau.
Tips: German language basics greatly help. Self-time management is very important. Getting and processing information in an orderly and active way is most important. Although there are various international organizations to help students, one should always take the initiative to get self-info.
Likes (Value for money): TU Ilmenau is a public university that offers studies almost free of charge. There is only a small amount of semester contribution needed, which also gives almost as much return as public transport, library usage, and various study-related software usage. Again, the city also provides cheap living costs, compared to big cities.
Dislikes (Part time work): Ilmenau is a small city. It is also a university city, where a large part of the population is students. So, it is hard to get a part-time job. Students need to go to nearby cities to get a job. There are options such as labor works, but they affect study a lot.

Great , Quite to learn grow and build your career
Tips: Students should be prepared for a peaceful and nonchaotic environment. Ilmenau is a very small town and full of greenery. But you get almost everything here in this small town. TU Ilmenau is very research-oriented. The international community are very active, and they have multiple clubs and organizations.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): After graduation from a German university, the pathway is clear for international students who want to live here. You will get up to 18 months on a job seeker visa, and then after landing a job and crossing a certain threshold in salary, you are eligible for a blue card, and then you can apply for PR after a few months.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I rated it 4/5 because I believe Germany has very good opportunities for international students, and yes, language plays a very important factor. Learning German makes things easy. Many people get full-time jobs after graduation, but effort is needed in every field, as the market is very competitive.

A good place to study, learn and grow.
Tips: I have transitioned after coming here; the way I was back in India is completely different from the version of me. I have actually experienced a lot of cultural differences between India and Germany. No, I did not have any scholarships; normally if you have a stellar profile, you will land a scholarship easily. I am very much satisfied with TU Ilmenau.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The academic staff here are all highly knowledgeable, and I find them extremely helpful regarding the explanation of topics, and also they are extremely friendly and humble. If a student has any doubt, they can contact the professor during academic hours or take an appointment to resolve their doubts.
Dislikes (Part time work): I rated part-time work low because Ilmenau is a tiny university town, so local job options are extremely limited compared to bigger cities. Unless you get lucky with a HiWi research position on campus, finding an off-campus student job without fluent German is nearly impossible. Pay is fine when you do land something, but expect months of waiting and heavy competition for the few open spots in town.

Nice university international friendly.
Tips: It's a nice university with many options for degrees. It has a very international crowd, especially Asian. But it is very small; there is not much to do here, and getting jobs (part-time, full-time) is difficult. If students want to come to study, then it's a nice place, but if they are thinking the learnings would be like Canada and Australia, then it's not the right place to come.
Likes (Safety): Ilmenau is a very safe and peaceful town, unlike big cities such as Berlin. Because it's a small town with an international crowd, it's quite safe. This town is not very crowded, and mostly old people live in East Germany, so it's part of that. And also the town is quite pretty.
Dislikes (Part time work): Because of many factors. To get a part-time job, you need German, and it is not always available. As the location is a town and a big city, jobs are quite difficult to find. If someone wants to come just for study, then it's good. But many students end up taking loans, which are difficult to pay back while living here.

TU Ilmenau-One of the Best german University
Tips: Like there are many cultural differences that are present in Germany, and you will get acclimatized to them once you start living here. I didn't get any external scholarship. I am satisfied with my university and data science course and Germany. This is what I will say.
Likes (Student Life): Apart from all other colleges I have known from my friends living in Germany, TU Ilmenau is a vibrant place where there are many clubs and societies that can help you attain knowledge beyond classwork. There are many clubs in filmmaking, arts, and vehicle racing.
Dislikes (Part time work): Like, there are very limited part-time opportunities in Ilmenau, and it is hard to land a role if you don't speak German. It is very difficult to manage part-time while studying parallelly because the examination structure here is different in comparison to India.
