Fantastic college that outshines most of the popular private universities.
Tips: There is a cultural difference. People coming from India will need time to adjust to Austin and the US. UT offers a scholarship along with your admission letter. You can still mail and apply, but the success rate is very low. I earned a scholarship of 5000 with my admission letter. The best way to get a scholarship is to apply in the first round. I am very satisfied with the university, still adjusting to the country. I would say the course is good, but it's very important to know that it is more analytical than described on the website.
Likes (Public transportation): UT students can use all the public transportation in Austin for free. The bus services are great and are mostly on time. The bus services cover all the major areas of Austin that students would like to visit. Even if you have a guest coming over, the bus pass is also very affordable.
Dislikes (Part time work): This is a 10-month course, and due to this, there is no option for TA/RA/Internship. There are many part-time opportunities, but due to a very tight schedule, student of this course cannot do most of them. The ones we can do are for PTS (Parking and Transportation Services) and Dining. The average pay is $14.

Tips: Initially, studying here can seem intimidating, but the people are warm and helpful. It took me a semester to adjust to my classes and establish a routine. While play is emphasised as much as work, you are expected to do your best in assignments and projects to be taken seriously. I chose this program to gain a better understanding of policy-making and history, and it has not disappointed.

Tips: Texas is a very unique city offering all aspects of the American life in one place. The cost of living is reasonable compared to other states, but securing on-campus housing is a task. You can skip the orientation; it's not that useful anyway, but make sure your housing is sorted and that you have a functioning account. The international students mixer is where I found my friends.

Very accommodating and welcoming campus.
Tips: I have experienced both good and stressful experiences here in college. The classes can be academically rigorous but there are plenty of activities outside the classroom as well. The campus of UCSB is breathtaking and the outdoors are very inviting hence activities like trekking, hiking and volleyball are popular among students to unwind after a long day. Finally, I would suggest that before you reach campus, figure out your accommodation preference and sign up for a meal plan if you plan on staying within campus most of the time.
Likes (Safety): I have personally found the campus to be super safe and comfortable for me as there is more than adequate security and the students are very united and helpful. It is more unsafe outside of campus especially concerning theft and robbery and more.

Tips: I have transitioned positively after coming here. The campus is beautiful and has a lot of scenic views. The academic environment is quite rigorous and there is a lot of emphasis on research. Registration is much simpler than other colleges and you are encouraged to seek help if needed. UCSB has the most electric and energetic environment you can think of. The campus is perpetually in a state of excitement and there is always an event, a game or a club activity to do where people are very welcoming. I've personally enjoyed the adventure clubs as well as Scuba.
