Q:   What if I miss the registration date for ACT exam?
A:

In case an applicant misses to register for ACT at the proposed deadline, they can opt to register for ACT during the late registration window. The late registration window opens for students once last time and students have to pay a fee for late registrations. Thus, the late registration option is open for applicants but with an additional fee.

Q:   Is it easy to register for ACT without help?
A:

Yes, ACT registration is easy, and can be completed in a few quick steps without help. The ACT registration would require some academic details of the applicants, besides their high school grades or scores and a little details about their co-curricular activities. The ACT registration requires applicants at the end to choose a date for exam and the test centre. Both choices can be changed afterwards but would require additional fee.

Q:   What all is required at the time of online ACT registration?
A:

As Indian students (or international students), candidates need to have their high school scores if available and if not they can enter their predicted scores, a valid photo ID, one recent photograph, and a credit card. The registration of ACT exam also requires applicant's high school educational background along with interests of the applicants. The ACT registration also includes students including the colleges and universities they wish to send their scores across to as well. Hence, its quite a lengthy process which requires a lot of attention so that all information provided is correct.

Applicants must be accurate with the details they enter so that they do not need to come back and make amends in the ACT exam application. The ACT registrations do not require a lot of documentation but just predicted scores to understand the applicant's progress academically so far.

ACT Exam Eligibility for Registration 2025

Officially, ACT exam eligibility has not been defined in the context of any particular set of requirements for students who wish to appear for the ACT exam. As such, there are no age definitions or grade restrictions set by the ACT for giving the exam. Majorly, high school students appear for this exam who wish to study abroad, and where this exam is accepted as part of the admission process. This is the very first step towards deciding between choosing either ACT or SAT for university admissions. Once the student chooses, in this case, for example, the ACT exam, he/she will have to first begin with registration.

  4. Choose your preferred date, and test centre and continue to pay the ACT exam fee. At this moment, you can also use any discount voucher, waiver or promo code, if you have any.
  5. You will receive exam booking confirmation over the email.
Q:   What are the acceptable name formats for registration of ACT test?
A:

This is an important information that you must consider noting down to avoid any trouble during registration and on your ACT exam day.

Upon registration, the students are provided with the "test rosters". On the exam day, the examiner checks your "first" and "last" name on the test roster with the valid and acceptable ID you bring to the ACT test centre. If any discrepancy is recorded in both these documents, you won't be allowed to take the test.

So, here are some acceptable name registration formats as described by ACT:

In short, you must retain both your first and last name while registering for the ACT exam.

Q:   What if I am unable to register for my preferred ACT exam centre?
A:

In case the applicant is unable to register for his or her preferred ACT exam centre, the next best option is to choose another test date. Exam centre availability completely depends upon the applicant's time of ACT exam registration and whether or not seats at the designated ACT exam centre are available or not. It is advised that students check their test dates and corresponding registration deadlines for the chosen ACT exam centre beforehand to avoid missing out at the last minute.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is ACT exam difficult for Indian students?
A:

Yes, ACT exam is generally considered difficult. Here are the reasons for the same:

  • English Section: ACT test's American English usage and conventions differ from the British English commonly taught in India. Hence, it becomes really difficult for students to follow the same pronunciation and colloquial terms as in the USA.
  • Reading section: The passages in the Reading section of the ACT test contain references to the US culture, which might not be familiar to Indian students.
  • Science section: The Science section in the ACT test focuses on data interpretation and graph analysis, rather than pure scientific concepts. This contradicts with the Indian system in where the stress is more on learning scientific concepts rather than data interpretation and graph analysis.
  • Time limitation: The ACT test offers very little time to perform on each section, which can be challenging for Indian students, especially if English isn't their first language.
