A demanding course with strong academic and professional value
Tips: Race yourself for the workload at AgroParisTech. It's a Grande École, so the sheer volume of lab work, technical projects, and lectures catches a lot of people off guard. Moving to France brings a real adjustment period—especially wrestling with French administration like CAF, CROUS, and residence permits. It takes a couple of months to settle in.
Finance-wise, double-check your track's costs early. My program had zero tuition fees, but living around the Paris-Saclay campus isn't cheap, so you need a realistic monthly budget. The research exposure and academic depth here are top-tier. Just come ready to manage your time aggressively from day one.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time work gets a low rating purely because of time. The AgroParisTech schedule is brutal—one of the professors even warned us during the selection interview that working alongside this degree was virtually impossible. A few on-campus jobs exist, but they're mostly basic maintenance or cleaning gigs rather than research or academic roles. Between heavy lab hours, lectures, and group projects, holding down a job just isn't realistic if you want to keep up with coursework.
