Uni Stuttgart- worth paying 1800 Euros as fees?
Tips: The initial few weeks take time to adjust to the surroundings, especially if you come during winter, shorter days are stressful, and you wouldn't want to go out that often, so my suggestion would be to do the opposite, and you'll make better contacts. Also, Deutschland stipendium plays you 300 euros every month, which is worth it, especially since it basically covers your semester fees.
Likes (Student Life): There are lots of student clubs, to name a few, STUVUS, AEGEE, and Fachgruppe for each department. The events they organize and the freedom you'd have when you want to organize something is surreal. For example, wanting to celebrate Diwali away from home is real, and the international office at the university does provide you with that freedom.
Dislikes (Value for money): Germany is known for quality and affordable education. Though fees are being increased in several universities, universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg charge an access fee of 1500 Euros especially for international students, which does feel unfair.

Good Academics, Tough Coursework
Tips: Students need to be ready to face a tough curriculum and lots of self-study, which is the case for my course. Adapting to the German culture and lifestyle was an effort, especially due to language, living independently and budgeting. In general, I like the university and course because of the high-level technical education and computational approach. The study process is good but students must be ready to invest much effort into self-study as the workload may be heavy. It is also necessary to arrange finances well and look for Working Student or HiWi jobs in advance since it may be complicated.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The lecturers are very knowledgeable and approachable to the students. The teaching technique comprises an already established theoretical concept of computational techniques and relevant examples. Though the classes may look difficult to understand, they are simplified by the faculty and require self-study to comprehend. There is a need for personal work in the projects and simulations. The faculty is highly diverse internationally.
Dislikes (Value for money): There are free public universities in Germany where students may not have to pay around u20ac1684 per semester in tuition fees. Considering the tuition cost along with the relatively high cost of living in the city, I would consider the overall value for money to be average.

Tips: The thing that is clear is that knowledge of the German language is a must. It is not required, as the language of instruction in the universities is English. However, it will help with survival and getting employment after graduation. - Remember that this university charges a tuition fee of 1500 EUR/Sem from non-EU students, and you can opt out of taking the course in case you feel that it will cause financial problems for you. - There are certain courses which you might find difficult to finish on time, or you might even fail in them. In this way, you will need more than two years to complete the entire course. - Do not let the fear of difficulty in a course keep you away from studying it just because the seniors have made you believe that the course is difficult. Go for the course if you are interested in the contents of the course. - I have received a scholarship, but there are lots of nationwide and statewide scholarships, and the university helps you get them. - Overall, I am extremely happy with my stay at this university and in this country.
Likes (Safety): The city itself is very secure (apart from some shady areas). You can freely walk in the city at 2- 3 AM without being bothered by anyone. I personally have never felt unsafe in the city. - There are generally no gate/blocks in the university buildings, you are free to go into any class without restrictions (of course, there are exceptions to this). This is something that was a culture shock to me, as that is very uncommon in India.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a lot of Indian restaurants in the area, but not all of them are good. It's a Germany-wide problem, not just for this city. The menu is the same everywhere, and most of the time its land - adjusted to the European palate. - On average, you can expect a bill of 20-25EUR per person, depending on the kind of restaurant you go to - I usually cook myself but go out on some occasions too.

Life at University of Stuttgart
Tips: In general, Stuttgart is a beautiful city, and the University of Stuttgart is great, there are a lot of work opportunities during or after graduation. It, of course, costs much more compared to other technical universities in Germany due to its location in the state of Baden Wu00fcrttemberg. However, it can be a good investment for most people because there are plenty of companies in the Stuttgart area. A lot of people from different parts of Germany move to Stuttgart looking for work or an internship. While I have seen a lot of students in different universities doing odd jobs, students at university Stuttgart are mostly involved in teaching jobs in a working student role. There is also a wonderful scholarship opportunity called Deutschland stipendium one can avail of, which gives 300u20ac every month to the winners. Exams can be tough, at least for M.Sc. Electrical Engineering (which is what I am studying). Most students end up taking 3 years to complete 2 years Masters, although it is completely normal from a German point of view. There are excellent research opportunities right on campus, that is something I really appreciate. Lastly, we are very close to countries like France and Switzerland, one must take advantage of this and visit whenever possible.
Likes (Safety): In general, I feel very safe walking around the city. Even in the evening or in the dark at night, there is a sense of safety. In general, people are nice and welcoming. Very low crime rate or any incident of theft. Especially for women, unlike in India, girls can walk alone at night without being worried of anything. Most people mind their own business.
Dislikes (Value for money): The University of Stuttgart collects about 1700 u20ac per semester. Furthermore, the tuition fees collected do not even include the D-ticket for the month that has to be paid separately. The case is not limited to the University of Stuttgart. All universities in Baden Wu00fcrttemberg collect 1500 u20ac per semester as tuition fees, along with the semester fees that are collected by the individual universities. Given the cost of studies, I think that one can get an equivalent quality of education at other German universities without paying higher tuition fees.
