Master's Degree in Physics - Batch of 2025

Good faculty and a wonderful campus.
Tips: The Physics faculty is extremely good in research, and the master's curriculum is outstanding for theoretical physics. Regarding the city, the roads are not ideal for bikes, buses are often late, and trains frequently experience delays. However, the food is excellent.

Master of Science in Forest Science - Batch of 2025

A great journey through culture, nature and academia.
Tips: There will be a positive cultural shift as you start studying here at the University of Padova, Italy. You will meet a lot of students from different countries, literally every corner of the world, with different cultural backgrounds. A perfect place to enjoy the intensity of European heritage and academia simultaneously. Even though you might miss Indian food, you will get introduced to Italian food and culture, which is definitely enjoyable. It is one of the oldest universities in Italy, with historic buildings. I also had a regional Veneto scholarship of around 7000 euros per year, for which you have to apply separately without missing; search for scholarships Unipd or regional Veneto scholarship Unipd. I had an adventurous life as a student here. I used to have a lot of field activities in my course, for which I had to visit the beautiful mountains of the Alps. Of course, everything has a little bit of a negative side, too. It's a little bit hard to find part-time jobs here as it's a small student town, but it's not impossible. Language could be a barrier as outside the university everyone speaks Italian also, if you wish to find a job in Italy in the future, but if you are ready to learn Italian, life here could be more interesting and exciting.
Likes (Student Life): The university buildings, libraries, study centres, and student gatherings throughout town create a fantastic academic environment. Aside from the part-time job situation, it's a great place to enjoy student life.
Dislikes (Part time work): Padova is primarily a student city, not a commercial hub, so finding many jobs is difficult. Competition to find a job is also higher. If you learn Italian, the chances of finding part time job are easier. Most part time jobs are within the university, such as tutor buddy or different departments, and outside in restaurants

Master of Science in Chemical and Process Engineering - Batch of 2026

Affordable and valuable option for Master’s and PhD with intense but rewarding academics.
Tips: Students should research their courses, faculty, and job prospects. Some courses, like Environmental Engineering, Geography, and Economics, are relatively easier, while others, such as Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mathematics, and Physics, are quite challenging. Faculty are quite helpful and cooperative. Overall, I am very satisfied with my chosen course.
Likes (Safety): I rated 5 on safety because Padova is one of the safest and well-developed cities in Italy. The local police maintain strict surveillance, and law enforcement is strong. It's common to walk around the city, even at midnight, without any fear or discomfort. Although occasional cycle thefts happen, which is quite unavoidable in most cities, the general environment remains peaceful and student-friendly. Street lighting is adequate, public transport is reliable, and emergency services respond promptly. Overall, it provides a very safe atmosphere for international students.
Dislikes (Part time work): I rated 1 on part-time work because there are very limited on-campus opportunities available for international students, and they are highly competitive. Off-campus jobs are also difficult to find due to language barriers, legal restrictions, and high local competition. Balancing part-time work with academics is challenging, especially during exam period. Moreover, most part-time roles offer only minimum wage, which is not sufficient to cover living expenses in Italy. The average payout ranges from 5 to 8 euros per hour, and even getting consistent hours per week is uncertain. Overall, it's not a reliable source of income for students.

Master of Science in Management for Sustainable Firms - Batch of 2026

Independence, culture, and opportunity at Unipd.
Tips: Before I came to the University of Padua, I didn't know it was prestigious, and I wasn't fully prepared for how the education system was. You have to learn a lot on your own, and they don't hold your hand. When I arrived, it was a challenge to navigate the paperwork. I had to deal with the visa, the permesso di soggiorno, and hygiene. The culture was also a bit different. People here are more laid-back, focused on social life. I have been awarded a scholarship, the Padua International Excellence Scholarship. I got it through my early application; it was based on my previous education and a motivation letter. It included a tuition fee waiver and around 8,000 per year. I am very happy with my course and Padova. The city is small enough to have a community, but also full of history and art. The country itself is beautiful, rich in culture and very accessible to students. The language is important; I started learning English first, but I also learned a little Italian for everyday life. If you are willing to learn independently and are open to different cultures, Unipd will be a great place for you.

Highly theory oriented course structure.
Tips: Try to look for accommodation 5 months before your arrival date. Find someone in your class who did a Bachelor's here or your seniors in order to understand the examination system and plan ahead, because it's difficult to graduate in 2 years. The campus is very student-friendly and vibrant.
Likes (Public transportation): Padova is a well-connected city with trams and buses. Students can get a cheaper monthly subscription, around €25 for urban rides and €40 for suburban rides. The city is building two new tram lines near all university buildings, which will make commuting to and around the university much easier in two years.
Dislikes (Part time work): The Italian language is mandatory for most part-time jobs in Padova. The university posts a few part-time jobs, and you'll be competing with 60,000 students. Many international students work in food delivery, earning around €1 per kilometre. Other jobs, like bar or water tender, pay an average of €7 to €9 per hour.

International students have to work extremely hard to achieve good grades.
Tips: Students need to clear many courses, and this is particularly difficult for international students. Therefore, international students must work extremely hard to achieve good grades. It is also important to follow up with the classes. After a Master's degree, obtaining a Ph.D. in Europe is generally very competitive, so top-notch grades are essential.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are very limited on-campus opportunities for international students, and they are fiercely competitive. Off-campus jobs are difficult to find due to language barriers and high local competition. Besides that, the city is safe, friendly and well-connected.
