Master Luxury Management at London Business School

Looking to nurture the next generation of luxury leaders, London Business School (LBS) is making an important addition to its MBA curriculum. It’s a new Luxury Management Programme, in collaboration with Walpole British Luxury.
Launching on October 22, 2013, the programme in association with Charles Russell will be offered to London Business School’s first year MBA students. The last date to apply for other candidates is November 4, 2013.
The students will be chosen by a committee comprising LBS faculty and senior executives from Walpole member brands on the basis of potential and passion for the luxury industry, informed a release. The course will host talks from leading luxury experts including Mark Henderson, chairman of Gieves & Hawkes; Gillian de Bono, editor of Financial Times ‘How to Spend It’ magazine and Jonathan Akeroyd, President and CEO of Alexander McQueen. Lectures will cover topics such as luxury fundamentals, the creative process, and retail & e-tail experience and management. Students will also be mentored by a senior business leader from within the Walpole membership.

“London is the home of British luxury and our students will have a unique opportunity to gain access to some of the top brands in the industry,” said Gareth Howells, executive director MBA, and MiF, London Business School. The school’s dean, Andrew Likierman, went on to add that the programme will help students overcome barriers in the luxury industry and allow them to start networking before they enter the sector.
“As the British Luxury Industry becomes more and more significant – with its massive value to the economy and the “soft power” of Britain – it is critical that management skills are available to meet the demands of a complex, challenging but highly attractive business,” said Mark Henderson, Board director at Walpole British Luxury & chairman of Gieves & Hawkes.
