German Student Visa Process Revamped: Apply Online At digital.diplo.de

Study in Germany: The student visa process for Germany has been simplified with the launch of the new Consular Services Portal, digital.diplo.de. Now, Indian students and other international students can have a hassle-free experience while applying for visas online.

Study Abroad: To make the German student visa process simpler and faster, the German Foreign Ministry has introduced a new Consular Services Portal, digital.diplo.de. Indian students who aspire to pursue their higher education in Germany for more than 90 days can apply for a visa through this new website and complete the visa process online. This is effective from February 17, 2025.

"The Consular Services Portal provides an easy and secure online application procedure for visas to enter and stay in Germany. Complete your application online and have it checked in advance by the German mission to ensure that it is complete. In this way, you will be well prepared for the in-person appointment at the German mission where you can provide your biometric data (fingerprints and photo)," says the official statement.

To apply online, the students need to fill out the application forms and upload the required documents. The application and documents will be reviewed by the German authorities and then the VFS centre will notify the applicants for biometric data and document verification.

Steps To Apply Online For German Visa

Step 1: The applicants must visit digital.diplo.de and on the homepage click on the "Visa."

Step 2: Now, select "Study Purposes and Seeking a University Place".

Step 3: They need to select the country, which is India for Indian students.

Step 4: Create an account by entering a valid email ID and password

Step 5: Log in to the account and fill out the application form by entering the personal details including financial information, contact, and travel.

Step 6: Applicants should upload the required documents and submit the application for the German student visa.

German Student Visa 2025: Main Highlights

The following are the main highlights:

• The entire German Student Visa process has been shifted to online from offline. Now, there is no physical paperwork involved. The students need to apply online for the visa.
• The documents need to be uploaded online only.
• Once these documents get verified, the VFS Center will notify students for personal meetings for biometric data collection and document verification.
• Students need to have a Blocked Account where they should either get a minimum of €992 per month or €11,904 per annum to prove that they have the living cost in Germany for one year.
