Study in Canada: An Indian student in Canada has shared a post on Reddit with an ID r/delhi. She titled it 'I regret moving to Canada' and it has gone viral.
She shares her experiences in the post while living in Canada and says that in contrast to what the Indian aspirants dream of a better life, the harsh reality is completely different.
According to her, the Canadian government and institutes here consider foreign students a business and once a student arrives in Canada, they realize the scam. The post highlights that currently, it is better to stay in India as the opportunities are growing, the West is only selling an illusion and if one works smartly in India, they can create a good life without sacrificing mental health, dignity and family.
Tuition Fees Are Insane In Canada
She said that most international students come here through low-ranking institutes which are offering outdated curriculum with degrees useless in the job market. Despite this the tuition fees are insane. She also highlighted the loneliness felt by the Indian students is extremely difficult than expected and even connecting with people in the same community is also not always feasible as everyone is busy in their own lives. It makes students depressed and also they do not get people to share their struggles. She added that though Canadians are polite they are distant and often you can develop friendships with them.
Financial Struggle Of Indian Students In Canada
The cost of living is high, with skyrocketing rents, overpriced groceries and extremely expensive basic necessities. People need to do minimum-wage jobs for their survival where they need to spend long working hours. There is no work-life balance, the employers exploit the international students and if anyone complains, they get replaced by another desperate candidate.
" I just want to say—I’d like to stay anonymous. I’m not here for clout, likes, or attention. Just treat me as a voice for all the international students who are quietly suffering but don’t always have the space to speak up," she said in her post.
