Monash Researchers Receive Over $67 Million NHMRC Investigator Grants

Study in Australia: By getting a whopping $67 Million grant, Monash University has secured a $21 million increase from its 2024 NHMRC Investigator Grants.

The Australian government has granted more than $67 million to Monash researchers to pursue health and medical research. The NHMRC Investigator Grants were awarded to 36 researchers at the Monash from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) and Senior Vice President, Professor Mike Ryan commented, “Monash researchers are at the very forefront of addressing medical and health challenges and these NHMRC Investigator grants will lead to further critical breakthroughs that will improve the lives of communities here and around the world. My warmest congratulations to all 36 awardees."

Mark Butler MP, Federal Minister of Health and Aged Care, and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator Grants announced the award. This funding supports the highest-performing researchers from every stage of their careers to conduct research across health services, public health, clinical and biomedical.

"Monash successfully secured a $21 million increase from its 2024 NHMRC Investigator Grants funding results. Six applications received over $3 million, with funding dedicated to projects tackling a range of issues including enhancing reproductive health and creating pathways to vision. Reflecting the diversity of our research cohort, 18 of Monash’s successful applications were led by female Principal Chief Investigators," says the university statement.

Monash University To Celebrate International Women’s Day 2025

The university has invited its staff to attend this year's International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 5, 2025.

Monash University stated, "You can hear from inspirational keynote speaker, Natalie Truong. Born in Vietnam, Natalie arrived in Australia as a child refugee. Natalie’s marketing career has spanned across financial services and professional services, including a recent role as Chief Marketing Officer for EY Oceania. She serves on the Board of Pride Cup, advocating for LGBTIQ+ inclusion in sports. Natalie is also a proud Monash University alumna."

Monash University: Latest Updates

In the recently released World Reputation Rankings 2025, Monash has been placed 63 globally and third in Australia. It has climbed to 24 places this year to be placed at 63 position.

"The achievement reinforces the University’s high global standing in education and research excellence," said the Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Sharon Pickering.
