NUS Offers Master of Science in Infectious Disease Emergencies

The National University of Singapore is offering the Master of Science in Infectious Disease Emergencies for the inaugural intake in July 2025. The application is being accepted from November 1, 2024, and the application deadline is April 30, 2025.

It is a coursework-based program. The students can complete it either in one year full-time or in two years part-time mode. The curriculum of the NUS Master’s Degree Programme in Infectious Disease Emergencies (MSc IDE) includes the key components such as ethical, leadership and legal frameworks relevant to this area. To complete the course, the students are expected to complete 40 units of coursework.

The program is led by the faculty at the Centre for Infectious Disease Emergency Response (CIDER), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Master of Science in Infectious Disease Emergencies Promises Good Career Ahead

After completing this program, the graduates will be well-positioned for various impactful and exciting career paths. Former WHO Chief Scientist To Join NUS

The university will appoint Dr Soumya Swaminathan, former Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization and previously Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, to its Board of Trustees effective from April 1, 2025.

Hsieh Fu Hua, Chairman of the NUS Board, said, “We warmly welcome Soumya to our Board. With her expertise and deep experience in research translation, she will bring valuable insights to guide the University’s thrusts in this respect. Her international perspective will enrich discussions on charting the growth of NUS towards becoming a leading global university.”

“We also want to extend our deepest appreciation to Koon Hean and Chin Hua for their many contributions and dedication to NUS. Both have served the Board and its committees very well. From their broad experience, they have provided guidance on many strategic issues. We will miss them indeed,” Hsieh added.
