UK Reports Increase In Study Visas Applications By 13%

Study in UK: According to the latest data released by the UK government, study visa applications have increased by 13%, which hints at the rebound of international students' enrolment at UK universities.
Home Office UK has released its data which shows that in the year ending in January 2025, the applications from Sponsored study visa applicants stood at 411,100 which is a 13% increase from the previous year.
There is an 84% drop in the applications from dependants of students as against last year. There were only 21,500 applications from dependants this year. This huge fall in dependants applications is due to the new policy from January 2024 which says that students will not be able to bring their dependents other than those who are studying with government-funded scholarships or in postgraduate research courses.

UK Sends Back Many Migrants To Asia, Africa, Europe and South America
After a major escalation in immigration enforcement by the Home Office, UK has sent back around 19,000 migrants who were found to be foreign criminals, asylum seekers and other immigration offenders.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said, "To rebuild public confidence in the immigration system, we need to show the rules are respected and enforced. That’s why, as part of the government’s Plan for Change, we have put significant additional resources into immigration enforcement and returns, so those who have no right to be here, particularly those who have committed crimes in our country, are removed as swiftly as possible. I want to pay tribute to all the Immigration Enforcement staff and other officials in the Home Office who strive tirelessly every day to make our returns system work firmly, fairly and swiftly."
