University of Manchester: Applications Open For MA Digital Media, Culture and Society

Study in UK: MA Digital Media, Culture and Society at the University of Manchester is a one-year duration course and there are various scholarships and bursaries available for international students.
The University of Manchester has invited applications for an MA in Digital Media, Culture and Society for the 2025 session.
The course offers an advanced interdisciplinary exploration into the utilization and analysis of digital media and technology with emphasis on the societal and cultural ramifications.
“This program delves into the critical examination and active participation in new modes of intellectual inquiry, artistic expression, and civic involvement facilitated by digital media. Moreover, it equips students to identify and address digital-mediated challenges to civil liberties, such as privacy erosion and algorithmic biases, while also imparting essential digital skills like data analytics and visualisation.,” reads the university statement.
Eligibility Criteria For MA Digital Media, Culture And Society
The following are the eligibility criteria for the MA in Digital Media, Culture and Society:
- The applicants should have a First or Upper Second-class honours degree in a humanities or social-science-based subject area or an international equivalent.
- Overall IELTS 7.0 with 7.0 in writing and no score less than 6.5 or one can have 100+ in the TOEFL iBT with no skill below 22 and a minimum writing score of 25.

The tuition fee for the AY starting in September 2025 is £30,000 per annum.
There are various scholarships available for international students including the Humanities Bicentenary Scholarship of £10,000, the Manchester Alumni Scholarship Scheme of £3,000, and the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP) General Scholarship.
Also, several scholarships available from the Indian government including the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship (Maharashtra), and Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence (Rajasthan), Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship (Jharkhand), and the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
The course will be research-driven and will include students from various backgrounds. It will be taught in a seminar-oriented environment.
“ Throughout the program, participants refine their abilities to assess the cultural and societal impacts of digital media and technology, appraise digitally enabled forms of intellectual exploration, artistic creativity, and community engagement, and conduct independent research within the realm of digital technology and media,” added the university statement.
There will be different assessment methods including creative reflections, academic essays, visualisations, Storymaps and practical portfolios.
