History
In the year 1865, the Indiana General Assembly voted to participate in the Morill Act of 1862 and took steps to establish an institution. Then, in 1869, the Indiana General Assembly chose the Lafayette area for the new institution. In 1874, a few of the buildings of this university were completed and then, in the same year, the classes began. Then, in 1877, the University Hall was completed, becoming the central building on campus. Then, in 1929, the Graduate School was officially established.
