  • Point’s application process is open to all college students regardless of citizenship.   • Point scholarships are awarded on a "last provider" basis. Point fills in the gaps and provides funds not provided by other scholarships, grants, loans, work/study programs, etc.
  • It is the responsibility of the Point Scholar to secure as much outside funding as possible
  • Point is not intended to be, and cannot be, the sole source of support because there is no guarantee that the financial support will be the same each year, or will be provided each year
  • Point never meets 100% of demonstrated financial need. The average scholarship award per scholar is $10,000 for up to four years

Eligibility

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher recommended – All Majors
  • Applicant do not have to be LGBT to apply but you should have a history of leadership in the LGBT community and plan to be a LGBT leader in the future
  • The Point Foundation Scholarship Program is looking for individuals who have proven leadership skills, excellent scholastic achievements and want to make a difference in the world
  • Some scholars will choose a career that is focused on the LGBT community and others will use their skills and influence to support the community, while not working full-time on LGBT issues. Talent and a drive to contribute are key characteristics of a Point Scholar

  • Applicants don't have to be "out" to apply.
  • It is important to note that some of the major components university will evaluate are your leadership skills, abilities and dedication to the LGBT community. If selected as a Point Scholar you will be required to submit your photo and bio for our website as well as be willing to attend and speak publicly at Point events.
  • All applicants are evaluated on the totality of their situation including, academic accomplishments, financial, emotional and social need, extracurricular activities, personal circumstances and goals for the future. You do not need a 4.0 to apply, but prospects for future academic success are a consideration.
