My NTU Experience and takeaway
Tips: The university is really cool. The faculty's strength and their knowledge are on another level. The classmates you get are all at different levels in a master's degree, which will be a great experience. Networking is the most important thing one should focus on when doing their master's degree.

Nanyang Technological University provides quality education and research
Tips: When I arrived in Singapore, I initially felt a minor cultural shift. However, it is easy to quickly adjust to the diverse, multicultural environment here. The environment at NTU and in Singapore is very welcoming and filled with optimism. I did serve under the Service Obligation Scheme. As per this scheme, I had to sign a bond that allows a subsidy in my education, and I had to commit to employment in Singapore for 3 years after graduation. It is very helpful to relieved financial burden for your education. Though, as per my knowledge the same course no longer offers service obligation, some Masters and PhD research courses might still be offering the service obligation. It is better to check NTU's official website or drop an email to the admissions office to confirm the details. In addition to providing me with quality education during my Master's degree, NTU has been my employer for the past 7 years. It has been a wonderful experience to learn and then use my knowledge to contribute to 5 different research projects with NTU.
Likes (Public transportation): Singapore has a very good, well-connected transportation system similar to New Delhi in India. It has a very strong MRT and LRT (metro) network. It also has access to buses that ply regularly, covering almost the last-mile distance. Additionally, well-laid-out footpath and cycling path infrastructure allows pedestrians and cyclists to get convenient access to the land infrastructure. If you are in a hurry, you can also book a car ride (Grab/Gojek/Tada) but usually can is expensive.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It is very difficult to secure permanent residence in Singapore. Many people have been employed by firms in Singapore for a very long time and are still working in Singapore under a work permit. If given a chance, I would love to secure permanent residence in Singapore.

Limited support from the university.
Tips: I got into the wrong company. I associated with the wrong set of people. I spoiled my career and personal life because of that. Be aware of what you are doing. The University itself is safe but Singapore has other influences. You may be an adult according to the legal definition, but that does not mean you will make mature decisions.
Likes (Public transportation): The bus and train network in Singapore is excellent. New train lines are under construction. It is the policy of the Government to have at least one Metro station within a kilometre of anywhere one is in the country. The University campus is expected to get a metro station or two. The bus service is also great.
Dislikes (Part time work): The part-time job option for foreign students is sub-standard jobs in departmental stores, casinos, or something similar. They are not helpful at all unless you want to meet some daily expenses. The good jobs are for Permanent Residents or Citizens, and no foreign student is them.

Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design - Batch of 2026
4.5
It's similar to doing an endurance sport with really good friends.
Tips: For the Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design, you have a chance to apply for the DAAD scholarship every semester. There is an additional academic scholarship for the first semester and a scholarship for women. This course is not eligible for the MOE tuition waiver.
Likes (Internships): The university hosts a career fair and company tours where you can interact with different teams. During the visits, you interact with Alumni from the university who share opportunities and advice. There are a lot of semiconductor companies in Singapore that provide opportunities for internships and Master thesis.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are part-time jobs on campus, but for the specific course I studied, taking on part-time work was not possible. Undergraduates are generally preferred for part-time work on campus. Master's students can work with a professor (especially students enrolled in the Master by Research programme).

Faculty is amazing, approachable and easy to interact with.
Tips: Many cultural shifts. Although there are a ton of Indians natively in the country, there still are some differences in the mannerisms, food and thoughts. There are no scholarships. I am very satisfied with my university, the course, the amenities it provided and the faculty and friends I integrated with.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty is amazing, approachable and easy to interact with. They are always there to help you out and if nothing you can always find a professor to hear you out. The most unique teaching experience was a class test I gave which had no right answers and everyone arrived at different solutions. Pretty cool way to check concepts and also avoid copying since there was no point. Mostly Singaporean and Chinese with a mix of a few Indians, Australians, Europeans, Japanese, etc.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It is not too difficult if you are able to find a job post Masters, but it can be difficult to find a job given the market. My chances are 50 percent. I need to work a few more years to make it 100%.

Master Programs Review in NTU
Tips: A cultural shift is not important here since Indians have been living in Singapore for a very long time. However, there is an overwhelmingly large number of people who belong to the Chinese ethnic group. The Master's program usually consists almost exclusively of Asian students, and very few non-Asians participate in it, except in the business classes. NTU is known for its research potential, and I would definitely advise studying there.
Likes (Public transportation): Singapore is one of the best countries in the world for public transport and safety. The MRT and Buses are well connected and very punctual. The city is clean, organized, and safe when traveling alone at night. Cars are expensive to own in Singapore, COE is a form of tax that is 3* the cost of the car for a period of 10 years.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Singapore's Permanent Residency process is not point-based, making outcomes harder to predict with no clearly defined criteria. In general, it is harder to get PR in Singapore for Indian students. And cost wise for settling as foreigner it is one of the expensive cities, with child care costing easily between around 500$ minimum in any decent playschool.
