Sample SOP for Singapore

Here, we have provided a sample personal statement of an applicant for NUS Singapore. An NUS personal statement is an essay with a brief description of who you are as a pupil and an overview of the things that matter to you. Please do not copy the statement and use it only for getting an idea about writing an impressive statement of purpose for Singapore.

What’s my spark? What do I want to incorporate as my lasting legacy? What keeps me going? I often ask myself these questions whenever I try to figure out my goals. And I always come up with a consistent reply that I wish to be an entrepreneur and create a product which would make our lives easier, simpler, and better. The curiosity within me to innovate, create, learn and break stereotypes is unwavering. To satiate this curiosity, I participate in quizzes and case study competitions for it gives me a chance to use my knowledge and hone my skills to deal with real life situations. My best quiz experience was the Reserve Bank of India quiz where I acquired the knowledge of repo rate, legal reserve ratio and different aspects of banking. I have also won the prestigious Horlicks Wizkids and qualify for the South Asian Finals. In fact, I love participating in such competitions as a lot of research and preparation goes into it.

Academically, I am a consistent performer with 10 CGPA in 10th grade. However, Business Management subject can gear me up any time. I was a part of the School’s sales exhibition ‘Marketing Minds’ wherein I had set up my stall for ‘clothing and apparels’ and savored the experience of selling my products, thereby challenging my marketing abilities.

Apart from that, I am equally talented at dancing, singing and sports. Three years of training in Hindustani classical music, album release at the age of nine, qualification as a grade 2 guitarist by Trinity College London comprise my musical background. A trained Bharatanatyam dancer, I have so far performed in 90 stage shows. I am also a socially aware individual and started an NGO ‘B-Fit’ for promoting personal hygiene among the underprivileged children.

With all these multitude of activities, I now seek NUS’ assistance to turn my goals into reality through its entrepreneurship support ecosystem and overseas study programs. With each new opportunity at NUS, I will constantly challenge myself to reach greater heights.
