Singapore Student Visa 2026: Requirements, Fees, How to apply

What is Eligibility for Singapore Student Visa in 2026?

To get the Singapore Student Pass approved, you must fulfill the strict eligibility criteria set by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Your application will be rejected if you do not meet these standards. Here are the key eligibility criteria for 2026:

• Admission: You must be accepted into a full-time course at an approved Institute of Higher Learning (IHL).
• Financial Proof: You must provide evidence of sufficient funds to cover your tuition and cost of studying in Singapore.
• Health & Character: You must be in good health (medical screening is required for those aged 15+) and have a clean criminal record.
• Age Limit: There is no specific upper age limit for a Student Pass, provided you have been accepted by a school.

Application Process (SOLAR System)

All student pass applications are processed online through the SOLAR (Student's Pass On-Line Application & Registration) system. This makes the process faster.

• General Process: Once your university registers you in the system, you will submit e-Form 16 via SOLAR. Most applicants do not need an interview.

• Processing Fee: A processing fee of SGD 30 (approx INR 2,100 as per January 2026 rates).
• Issuance Fee: Issuance fee of SGD 60 (approx INR 4,200) and an additional SGD 30 (approx INR 2,100) multiple entry visa fee, if applicable.

How to Apply for Singapore Student Visa?

New applications for a Student’s Pass must be submitted at least one month before the commencement of the course. Applications must be submitted through the Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration (SOLAR) system. 

Registration of Application by an Institute of Higher Learning (IHL)

Before the foreign student applies to Student’s Pass-through SOLAR, the college must first register the student through SOLAR with the following information:

• Name, date of birth, gender and nationality of the student
• Course details
• SOLAR application reference number

Submission of eForm 16 by Student

Once the college has successfully registered the student, the student may log in to SOLAR to submit eForm 16. Applicants must have the following information before logging into SOLAR:

• A registration acknowledgement notice
• Passport details
• Singapore’s address and contact details (if not available, provide the school’s registered address)
• Applicant’s email address.
• One recent passport-sized colour photograph

Upon submission of the eForm 16 through SOLAR, students are required to print a copy of the eForm for submission to the Student’s Pass Unit, ICA, to complete formalities for the issuance of a Student’s Pass.

Additional Information About Singapore Student Visa

You can work part-time in Singapore for up to 16 hours per week. Work permits are not required for those who want to work during holidays, as they can work full-time without any visa restrictions.

After the degree program is over, international students can submit an application for a one-year Visit Pass to ICA (Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore), if they want to look for employment opportunities in Singapore. This can be done online through e-VP.
