In 2024/25, there were a total of 9,000+ new enrollments at ETH Zurich with 3,650 being enrolled in a UG course. In total, there are 11,300+ students studying a BSc program, whereas there are 9,500+ students enrolled in an MSc program. Engineering stood to be the most popular course for UG and PG students with 4,000+ enrollments each.

Indian students are required to fulfil the ETH Zurich admission requirements to be able to secure a seat at the university. These are mentioned below-

  • Upper secondary school leaving certificate
  • Certificate of university admission in a relevant field provided by a recognized Indian university
  • Reduced Entrance Examination ETHZ OR Comprehensive Entrance Examination ETHZ

Tips to get selected at ETH Zurich

  • Ascertain the language of instruction of your course of choice. Depending on the same, you will be required to provide the English or German language proficiency proof and it will take time to build these language skills.

Q:   What are the language requirements for ETH Zurich?
A: 

The main language of instruction for Bachelor's degree courses is German. For this German C1 language certificate must be submitted by the application deadline of 31 march. These shouldnt be older than 3 years.

For master's courses the language of instruction could be both German or English but English proficiency proof is mandatory

Q:   Can I apply for more than one UG programme at ETH Zurich?
A: 

No students are only allowed to apply to one degree programme at a time. They can do so by selecting their desired programme on the eApply portal of ETH Zurich.

Q:   When will I receive my decision from ETH Zurich?
A: 

ETH Zurich specifies that students may have to wait for a few months  after the submission of their application since there is a lot of processing that goes on to have a fair evaluation. They can expect a decision by March end for PG courses.

Q:   Can I apply to more than one PG programme at ETH Zurich?
A: 

Yes PG students can apply to two different programmes per sem at ETH Zurich. Each application will have a different application number and thus will be evaluated individually. However, you can accept only one place offered even if you get accepted in both
