The University of Chicago acceptance rate is around 5%. For the undergraduate Class of 2027, the acceptance rate that has been 4.7%. A total of 38,800 applications were submitted to the university and the total number of applications that got accepted were 1,849. Looking at the acceptance rate, it can be said that UChicago is very selective at the time of admissions. It is at par with some of the top-ranking universities in the US which are very difficult to get into such as Harvard University, Stanford University, MIT, etc.

Though, it is quite evident from the acceptance rate that UChicago is extremely selective, but, it is not just the academic factor that is considered for granting admissions. Some of the factors that are considered alongside the academic factor are given below:

• SAT Middle 50%: 1510 – 1560
• Apart from this, students participated in extracurricular activities in High School such as Community Service, Editorial, Music, Student Government, Varsity Athletics, Theater, etc.

For the University of Chicago admissions, the applicants are required to submit English language proficiency score. In the case of graduate admissions, the minimum required scores varies as per the programs. The accepted test scores are IELTS / TOEFL  in the case of graduate programs. For a majority of the graduate programs, the overall IELTS score required is 7.0.   

The University of Chicago has international students from more than 100 countries and comprise 21% of the University’s student body. International applicants at the university also are required to apply in the same process as any other first-year applicant. First-year international applicants are also eligible for both need-based and merit-based aid from the university.
