Sheffield, a city of hope.
Tips: I have lived by myself before so chores were not a challenge to me. I didn't grow up in a traditional and conservative home so not much of a cultural shift. I received a 2000 scholarship that was approved in my acceptance letter. Overall, I'm glad I'm here.
Likes (Indian Food): A typical day at the university is just attending classes, lunch and then back home. There are a few events on campus organised by the Hallam Students' Union (HSU). The first 2 weeks of joining, we had welcome week events lined up for us to get acquaint to the university and union activities, clubs and societies.
Dislikes (Safety): The teaching faculty is very approachable and helps us with everything through the course and modules. The weekly schedule is set and they adhere to it and assist us with any help that we need. The faculty is quite diverse even in terms of nationality.

Try to embrace the cultural differences.
Tips: There is always a cultural difference when travelling to a different country. I would say embrace that difference and make this time to blend into the system. There are multiple scholarships, I would say they were difficult to get but it's always worth the try.
Likes (Public transportation): University is located at the heart of the city. So the public transportation is very reliable. There are city buses, trains and trams throughout the city which makes transportation easy and from this, you can actually save a lot of money. Bus offers a discount price for students which is 13 per ride.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I would say there is recession going on throughout the world. There are many companies that are willing to sponsor jobs but for freshers it's quite competitive. It is better to come with the job experience in hand for easy access to the job market. However, if the right skill and confidence is there you are a winner wherever you go.

Affordable and the best college!
Tips: Students should do research about the modules of their courses. They should check ranking of the university according to their chosen course. Do they want to live in a bigger city or a cosmopolitan city because Sheffield doesn't have so much to offer as compared to London and other big cities?
Likes (Value for money): Sheffield city is the 4th biggest city of United Kingdom and it is very cheap compared to others like Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Essex, Reeding and London. Quality of life is also very good with less population and less traffic. No crime is there. Everything is so cheap.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian food isn't available so easily including the Indian groceries. When I came to this college, the whole country was under national lockdown and because of that, the options for food and groceries were so limited that I had to suffer a lot but now, the things have changed. Lockdown restrictions have been removed and now lots of options are available to go out and get whatever we want.

Diverse learning environment.
Tips: They should be prepared to work part time and have reliable skill sets. Students need to keep in mind the work culture and the type of studies for which they are pursuing. Great communication and the basics of finance will make your life easy. The most important thing is cooking which is much needed.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport connectivity is good across the city. And one should enjoy travelling through trams and trains. Bus service is also good. Travelling through Ola and Uber will cost you a fortune so better to get a rail pass or travel by bus. Cycling is also a good option.
Dislikes (Internships): There are no internship opportunities. You will need to do part time jobs and make a living out of it. Please prepare yourself to know at least the basics of communication and customer service. People are helpful and connections will help you to get a job.

Difficult at the start but the best experience throughout.
Tips: At the start, it will be a little difficult to manage everything at the same time. However, as time went by, it became a beautiful journey and a good experience overall. It was fun trying out a new culture and a totally different approach to education. However, it would have been better if I had done a little research on the pattern of study before starting.
Likes (Post study jobs): Very few companies offer sponsor visas, which makes it difficult to apply for jobs. Also, companies often require applicants to have a driver's license, which makes it difficult for freshers to get a job.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking myself because of the different food choices. There are a lot of Indian restaurants to go to once in a while with a lot of food options but are a little expensive. Also, there are a lot of Indian shops to get the ingredients to cook.

Balanced academic experience with no internship support but good personal growth opportunities.
Tips: One thing you really need to know is that you've got to be pretty proactive about finding internships or part-time work. Career guidance can be a bit hit-or-miss, so doing your own research and networking is honesty a must. You should definitely be ready for the cost of living toou2014it's not cheap. For me, the whole transition was pretty tough at first, mostly just getting used to the new education system and the way people communicate here. There's a big cultural shift in how people interact in class and at work, but I eventually found my feet by just talking to classmates more and getting into the daily rhythm of UK life. I didn't actually get any scholarships and had to self-found everything, which wasn't easy. I looked into some research funding later on, but I just didn't qualify for what was available back then. I'd still tell anyone thinking of coming here to check the university sits early, because scholarships depend on so many random things like your grades or where you're from. Overall, I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. My course gave me some good lab training and teach skills, and just living in the UK has made me way more independent and better at dealing with people from all over.
