BSc in Business Management - Batch of 2025
4.5
An exceptional place to discover your potential.
Tips: The university has way more resources than what you can use in your time at the university. So my genuine suggestion would be to put yourself out there. Try as many new things as you can and be comfortable with the ambiguity. In terms of cultural shift, there won't be any major issues. In terms of satisfaction, I think I am pretty satisfied with the university; however, the UK in general is a rough subject. The country is going through a lot and is not in its best position, so setting back and finding jobs is a little harder than usual.
Likes (Indian Food): Birmingham has loads of Indian restaurants all across the city. There is even a small Indian cafe on campus. So personally, I have never faced an issue with Indian/veg food in Birmingham. I usually prefer to cook for myself because it's healthier and cheaper on a daily basis. Irrespective, I still choose to eat out at least once a week or two. And when eating out, the bill comes to about £10-25 per person.
Dislikes (Part time work): I saw plenty of opportunities for part-time work on campus. Even I had worked across 3-4 different part-time jobs on campus, including student ambassador, welcome week staff, business school experience ambassador, and more. They usually offer zero-hour contracts, which are genuinely amazing as a student.

Worth a living, if you have a passion, it's worth the risk and hardship
Tips: Moving over to Birmingham definitely throws a bit of a culture shock your way at first, but it's the kind of place where you find your feet before you know it. The whole transition takes some adjusting—especially getting used to the British weather and the sheer pace of uni life—but everyone is in the same boat, so you blend right in. Financially, the university makes things a bit easier for overseas students by automatically applying a £2,000 international scholarship right to your tuition fees, which takes a decent bite out of the upfront costs. Looking back, I’m incredibly happy with my decision to come here. The Edgbaston campus is stunning, my modules are exactly what I wanted, and living in the UK has been an amazing experience overall.

MSc Food Safety, Hygiene and Management - Batch of 2025
3.1
There is no internship and apprenticeship drives campaign by the university.
Tips: It was very academically oriented practices. Transition was challenging due to the difference in teaching style and cultural differences but a diverse student community was there to support me throughout. I'm highly satisfied with my course and university.
Likes (Safety): Safety wise it is good, students' guild community, religious societies countrywise. Cultural programs, events and festival celebrations. Universities arrange career fairs for a diverse range of students but there should be some internship drives that need to be prioritised to get exposure.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is no internship and apprenticeship drives campaign by the university. There are just a few companies that offer sponsorship, most of them reject international students due to visa status. Average starting role with minimum wages. This is not enough for experienced candidates.

MSc in Advanced Computer Science - Batch of 2025
4.1
A rewarding academic journey in Birmingham.
Tips: If you're looking at coming here, my biggest piece of advice is to do your homework on the course and slide into the DMs of current students or alumni on LinkedIn. Getting their raw feedback on how the modules are actually taught, what the internship scene looks like, and the real job prospects is a lifesaver. Moving over to the UK was actually a pretty smooth transition for me, even though it took a hot minute to get used to the British academic style, which is way more focused on you studying independently and pushing for critical thinking rather than just memorizing notes. The campus itself has a massive international crowd, which is amazing for meeting people from totally different backgrounds. I also managed to bag a £2,000 scholarship straight from the uni based on my past grades, which definitely took some of the sting out of the tuition fees. Overall, I’ve been really happy with the whole experience. The facilities here are top-tier, the academic support actually helps when you ask for it, and Birmingham itself is a fantastic city to live in. Whether you're chilling on campus right by Old Joe or staying over in Selly Oak, the whole student vibe here is honestly class—there’s always something random going on.

MSc in Computer Science - Batch of 2025

One of the best universities and also one of the top universities in the world within the top 100z
Tips: There wasn’t any cultural shift as such because wherever I went, there were Indian people. I did get a global master's scholarship, which waived some amount from my tuition fees. I’m very satisfied with the course that I did, and I love my university!
Likes (Student Life): The lectures aren’t too lengthy and not boring at all. College is just 2-3 hrs a day and about 3 days a week at most. Most of the work is based on self-study after lectures. Students get plenty of time to manage their lives and studies, plus there’s no pressure.
Dislikes (Internships): Vast majority of options to choose from, including paid and unpaid internships. Many opportunities are based on the course you’ve opted for, and depending on your knowledge and experience, you’ll surely land one good internship. If successful in it, you might also get offered a permanent position in the company.

The UK Dream: Inspiring Studies, Struggling Careers
Tips: The culture shock hit me in pretty much every way possible, from just trying to do basic grocery shopping to how the lectures are actually run. The second you land in the UK, you can just feel the difference—the air is clean, and the whole vibe is fresh and lively. Honestly, doing a master's at UoB is a completely different experience, but it’s 100% worth it. My only real piece of advice is to keep a close eye on the job market right now, because that side of things can get super stressful. I managed to bag a £3,000 Commonwealth Scholarship, and the uni definitely has other funding options you can look into on their site when you’re applying.
Likes (Indian Food): Birmingham is honestly amazing for South Asian food. There are so many Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Indian spots around where you can grab a really cheap meal. That said, as a student, you're obviously going to have to cook a lot, but the city has tons of local grocery shops and markets where you can find literally all the ingredients you miss from back home.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are very limited companies that offer visa sponsorship, lately, companies in Birmingham have topped selecting international candidates let alone sponsoring them. Although there are many companies around Birmingham including pwc, Mondelez, Deloitte, etc. Still it is becoming to land a sponsored role or internship.
