University of Birmingham Requirements for International Students 

With a Birmingham University acceptance rate of just 13%, it can be considered very selective when it comes to the University of Birmingham admission process. The general entry requirements for undergraduate students are given below: 

  • Must be over 17 years by 1 October of the year of enrollment 
  • Minimum of three A-levels (or equivalent from an accredited institution) [Students are recommended to visit the university website to check the Indian Standard XII equivalent for A-level subject] 
  • GCSE grade C/4 in Math and English (or higher, depending on the program chosen) 
  • Any other level 3 qualifications like the International Baccalaureate (IB), BTECs, T levels, and other range of international qualifications. 
  • Birmingham Uni requires its applicants to showcase proof of English proficiency via IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE 
  • Health Declaration (Program-specific) 
  • Certificates or High School Transcripts 
  • One reference (LOR

Postgraduates: 

  • 55%-60% or higher for 2:1 equivalency, or 50%-55% for 2:2 equivalency from a recognized university in India

  • For MSc programmes, one must have completed a three-year degree programme with first-class or very good upper second-class grades from a recognized Indian institution.

Tips to get selected at the University of Birmingham 

Some of the tips to improve one's chances of selection at Birmingham University are:

  • Improve English Language Proficiency- Like any other study abroad university located in a predominantly English-speaking region, Birmingham also requires its students to submit proof of being well-versed in English.
